There was a recall on the vehicle which affected the power steering. Even after having the vehicle serviced to address the recall, the problem persists. The mechanic says the problem is with the rack and pinion, which needs to be replaced. There should not be problems with the rack and pinion on a 4-year-old vehicle. I am wondering if the problem that necessitated the recall also compromised or damaged the rack and pinion.

Drove top speed of 20 mph because I was on base. Came to stop at stop sign to turn onto Maryland ave to exit the base. Started to accelerate to turn left, mid turn, van shut off/died, error message of put car into park and then vehicle speed too high(something along those lines) flashed. Electric panel fried. Driving all of a sudden on highway my power steering light came on jerked me to the right very hard and the in lane light pop on that's turned off in my van. While driving the steering wheel will stick like the power steering is failing. It is most noticeable when on the highway. If you turn slightly to the right, the steering wheel will then stick and then you have to give a jerk to the left to get it back to center. It feels like the power steering is going out. I see that there is a recall on the van for the power steering on some models but when I checked the VIN on mine it said it wasn't included. I'm concerned that my vehicle is having the same issue but was not included in the recall.

I took it to the dealership and they cleaned the wires but it's still happening. Now, they want me to pay $3,500 to fix a problem that I didn't cause.

We purchased the car in 2018. The vehicle's power steering always starts to lock/stick into one direction after the vehicle has been driven for 45 minutes or so. It is most noticable on the hwy at speeds of 70 mph or above, but on longer trip as the car has been running longer, the power sterring locking/sticking takes place lower speeds as well. When thw power steering starts to lock/stick, it requires a jerk force on the sterring wheel to straighten it out and this can easily cause oversteering in the opposite direction. Once the problem starts it is constant and you have to always fight against the power steering. It is dangerous and we are getting rid of the car. We have taken it several times to the Chrysler dealeship service department (mopar) and they have always told me the power steering needs an update and have never resolved the issue. They cannot replicate the problem either.

The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The mechanic sealed the steering column with lock tight sealant however, the clicking sound returned and the vehicle remained difficult to steer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The approximate failure mileage 7,000.

This past week my wife and I took a long road trip over 1000 miles.the car drove just fine and when we arrived I didn't drive the car for two days. I believe my vehicle is have the issue of a known recall on this type of vehicle: Engine stall or loss of power steering assist a loss of power steering assist or a stall can increase the risk of crash. I was driving and suddenly the power steering went out and the vehicle came to a stop. I was instructed on the screen to put the vehicle in park. Once I put it in park the vehicle shut off. I tried restarting it. The brake was stiff and would not push in. When I pushed the button it went to "acc" then when I pushed it again it went to "run" but the vehicle was not on and I could not change the shifter out of the park position. This was very dangerous and happened while vehicles were driving behind me causing people to suddenly come to a stop.
