At any given time my call will not restart. I will park it after 1 hour of driving or 5 minutes of driving and never know if it will restart. I called Dodge and they say they know nothing about this. How can this be when the web sites are filled with the same complaints. I do not have the money to start randomly replace parts. Why will Dodge not stand behind there product?

Journey 6-cyl

  • 3,900 miles
After owning my car (August 2009), I turned the key... it clicked once but, it did not start. I waited a few seconds and tried to start it again. This time, it started. I remember mentioning this when I went to the seminar for new car owners given by the service department at the dealership; but they said, "it was just a glitch". but, since then, it has happened intermittently. However, lately, it happens more frequently, including five times within the past week (Monday, June 9 - 13, 2014). Specifically, on Wednesday 09/11/2014, it happened as usual. However, this time it took about 15 minutes and several tries (turning the key) before the engine finally started. This is unacceptable. I cannot believe this is "just a glitch" as I was told by the dealership's service department personnel approximately five years ago. Please respond as I wonder if this is a recall issue? if so, why haven't I been notified (I purchased the extended warranty). Recently, a friend who also owns a 2009 Dodge Journey warned me that his car did the same until one day, it just stopped working period. I sincerely hope you can help me with this issue. Thank you. 2009 Dodge Journey. Has an intermittent starting issue. Car will go weeks, even months without any problems. Then it will fail to operate the starter motor. If it sits for a few minutes of hours, the car will eventually start. Taken to local auto repair center. Tested battery, alternator, and electrical system, with no apparent reason for the problem. Please notify auto maker of this situation.

I purchased this 2009 Journey in 11/2013 with 51000 miles. It randomly will not start. At first I thought it was a simple problem; now I am finding out that is a problem well known to Chrysler and has not been addressed in the 2009 vehicles. This is a serious failure on Chrysler's part to fulfill their obligation to address safety issues on their vehicles which leaves the public at risk. I have put over $1200 into the repair on this vehicle and the problem persists. I have a new battery, a new starter, and a new win module and I have the same issue.the car will randomly not start; I started researching this problem on the internet and found that there are a lot of complaints about 2009 Journey owners and that the win module was recalled on the 2010 Journeys because of the same issue " yet Chrysler has failed to respond to the issue with the 2009 vehicles. Why is this acceptable ??" I understand from the Chrysler technician who replaced the win module that he replaces so many of these modules that they sends out pre-packaged replacement kits for the installers to use.in early may I contacted the customer service / department at Chrysler (1-800-853-1403). I spoke with [xxx] who pulled up the VIN and confirmed that I am the owner of the car.when I explained that I had a new battery and a new starter and believed that I needed a win module he asked me why I did not use the extended warranty on the car; I told him that I am not the original owner and he said I had the warranty coverage until 5/23/14 under contract 36410717 according to your system. He gave me the mopar # to call to schedule repair--I called that same day and was told that I am not the original owner of the vehicle and I do not have the warranty coverage. I called Chrysler back and was told that [xxx] had "made a mistake... sorry"-- information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Front power windows and power mirrors suddenly stopped working. Rear windows do roll down however the drivers and front passenger windows do not work from the drivers side. The front passenger window rolls down from the passenger side but not the drivers side. I believe this is a known issue and should be fixed by the manufacturer before they loose more business.

I have been having trouble with this car ever since I purchased the car the car stalls while you are driving, the rear passenger door fills up with water and it is always heating up, at four years old I had to replace the evaporator coil and heater coil which is a $1200 job. I am a teacher I don't have money just dropping out of the sky I purchased a new car so that I wouldn't have to worry about issues of used cars. I am one who always keeps up with the annual maintenance of my vehicles. Driving this car is very dangerous and Dodge should be held responsible for these issues. By the way it takes 15-20 minutes sometimes to get the car to start up. I am really disappointed with Dodge I was planning keeping this car for at least ten years now I maybe forced to get a new car note as soon as I am finished with this just to have a reliable vehicle that wont indanger my life. My next car will definitely be a Honda!

While driving the car started to sputter with the wipers going extremely fast then stopping and coming back on. Door locks wouldn't work with key fob or door buttons, left low beam and right high beam wouldn't work, neither front turn signal would work, and temp gauge was off by 30 or 40 degrees. Replaced the battery and none of the issues were fixed. Had to take it to the closest mechanic it finally shut down completely on him while running tests. He called the local Dodge service center and they told him it is a known electrical issue with Journeys and durangos that they see all the time. He had to order a complete new integrated power module or fuse and circuit board for $860 part only. When he ordered the part out of Chicago they only had 1 in stock as the guy stated they can't keep these in due to so many issues. Car is running now but it is at the dealer service center because only they can reset the computer so everything works as normal. So, another $100+ for that as well. This needs to placed in a recall status before someone is seriously injured when their car shuts down while driving. I will be submitting a reimbursement request.

Car will intermittently not start. All lights, windows, locks, radio etc still work, just "clicks" when you try to start it. This has happened too many times to count. Typically it will start after a few tries. Battery has been replaced- that is not the problem. Contacted Dodge and they stated "no recall for my VIN - take to a local Dodge dealer to have it inspected." We are a military family and I am a mother of 3 children- it is not safe or reliable when my vehicle doesn't start repeatedly. It is obvious Dodge knows that this is a problem, they need to take responsibility for their faulty vehicles and replace what is wrong.

I was driving down the freeway and the )lighting bolt( symbol came on and my motor shut off completely. This is the electronic throttle control symbol, and I could have been severely injured had I not gotten to the side of the road. I called the Dodge dealer in my area and the customer service line. Dodge says this is my problem not theirs. My car is a 2009 with 102000 miles on it. I feel that this is Dodge's problem, what happened to taking care of issues like this. My family could have died because their electrical part malfunctioned. When I checked on line it stated this happens all the time on many different Dodge models I say Dodge should recall each vehicle with these same components so a family does not die because of their use of inferior parts. Dodge has recalled this part on different vehicles just not my model they state that my vehicle, which has the same parts as the other ones recalled is fine because the model year and options are different. To me this is asinine and we all know Dodge needs to do what is right in this matter and fix my car, at their expense.

The win module (wireless ignition node - part # 05026875) has been failing for several weeks and finally died completely. A new one has been ordered however it is on back order. The dealership actually has 5 other Journeys waiting for the same part. This has also been an issue with other models for this part. It should be recalled due to its continued failure.
