This is the third complaint in a series of 3 (3 brake/rotor/caliper issues in a 4 month period) Brakes sound awful!!!! Grinding and squealing....took it to the mechanic for the THIRD time in 4 MONTHS - In July, our mechanic said - brake pads were gone - rotors shot, caliper shot, so we paid over $400 to have all of that repaired. So, new rotors, brakes and calipers on the rear of this car.....we THOUGHT the problem was fixed (although we are still puzzled at why the brakes/rotors/calipers were so bad). Well, 2 months later the problem was back and worse this time. The rear driver side brake was insanely hot, you could hear it ticking with heat and could feel the heat from a foot or two away - the squealing sound was back and even worse - people were looking at me on the road because it was so loud. NOW in November, for the THIRD time in four months - that we have the SAME problem (brakes/rotors/calipers SHOT) 3 TIMES in a four month period. The second time (September) it was so bad, our mechanic was not comfortable with me driving it so he told me to leave it there until it was fixed (which I did). Again, needed new brakes, calipers and it even ruined the brake line with the heat!!! The caliper "broke" the brake pads were worn down again - in ONLY 2 months!!! So, now that we brought it to our mechanic for the THIRD time in a 4 month period - he knew something was wrong. Our mechanic researched the problem and said Chrysler put the wrong brake system on the Dodge Journeys (years 2009-2013 I believe) and corrected it in 2014. The current brake system is not adequate for the weight of the vehicle and is going through brake pads like crazy. He said there is a class action lawsuit right now - but no recalls as of yet...can anyone tell me how be a part of this class action lawsuit? He said it would be $400 for a new brake system - Chrysler should be paying for this! I am very upset with Chrysler right now. Our mechanic said we would have to keep paying for new brake pads, etc. every couple months for as long as we own the car, unless Chrysler "does right" by its' customers and replaces this brake system. Our mechanic also said Auto Zone will not longer keep replacing our brake pads for free (they did this 3 times as we thought it was faulty brake pads/calipers at first) as there is nothing wrong with their product - the problem is with the brake system in the Dodge Journey. Please help! How do we get Chrysler to replace this brake system?????

I bought this car for my wife to have a sound vehicle while we are overseas. Here recently, we have been driving and the vehicle brakes make a horrible grounding sound of metal on metal. I am taking it to the shop on base because there is no dealer here that I am aware of in England. It appears very unsafe to say the least and this should not be an issue, I dealing with a car only a few years old. The vehicle only has 36K miles on it and this makes absolutely no sense. The roads over here in England are not safe as it is and then to now have this problem makes matters worse.

I have noticed all of the other complaints from other owners and this is absurd that the company has not made any attempts to correct this issue. Peoples lives are at stake and as a military member this makes no sense to wait until someone is hurt before taking the necessary safety precautions to ensure the livelihood let alone the money consumers have placed in the products purchased.

I have had my car for about 3 years, and I love it! I would have no complaints about it until the other day it started squeaking badly. I took it to my mechanic and he took off the back tires and my brake pads are totally worn down to the sensor which is what is squealing. These are my rear brakes, I only have 36 thousand miles on my car, and my front brakes are totally fine. Annoying that I already have to change my rear brakes when usually you have to replace the front brakes first. I am going to replace them this weekend so I am not sure how much it will cost. I also have to have the rotors turned because they were all worn as well.

Journey Crew V8

Bought this 2011 Dodge Journey crew and from day one it has been nothing but trouble. Six times it has been in the shop and [not fixed] now the brakes are making terrible noises and you cant go around the block with out them getting so hot you cant touch them. I am so tired of the mechanics saying its my fault or they don't know what it could be. I sure know i didnt buy this vehicle to be stranded and have to walk. Dodge doesnt stand behind their vehicles and right there i should have not purchased anything from them. I know it will never happen again and i will be sure to tell all who i know not to purchase a Dodge ever.
