The contact owns a 2011 Ford Escape. While the automatic tailgate was closing, the latch closed incorrectly and the window shattered. The contact stated that the liftgate latch was faulty ever since the vehicle was purchased. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic for repair and the latch was lubricated. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 12,500.
