Escape 1.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 134,000 miles

I was driving my mother to a friend's house which is about 5 mi away car ran fine. Drop her off get back on the road and out of nowhere the check engine light comes on and the temperature gauge is buried in the red and it says to pull over immediately safely so I do. Pop the hood sit in the parking lot for about 15 minutes. But as I pop the hood nothing really seems to be hot like you would think. Call my mechanic he says to sit there 15-20 minutes and then drive it to his shop which is about 4 miles from where I'm at. So I started the car and drove it to his shop, the drive to his shop everything was fine it drove perfect and when I pull in the check engine lights on. I don't remember what the code was but basically the engine had got to 255 degrees. He originally said it was a blown head gasket it was going to be 3,200 to fix and the motors in these cars are known for this problem.

So the car was at the shop for 3 weeks come to find out under where the head goes there's a little crease itty bitty that leaks coolant into the cylinders. Fix is a brand new motor. And the mechanic told me that this has been a problem because the new motors are made differently wear that little itty bitty crease or hole is. The mechanic quoted me $8,000 for a new motor the car is only worth $6. I told him to put it back together with new head gaskets on it and I'm going to sell it as soon as I can. I've written letters to Ford corporate without any response I did not contact the dealership.

Escape SE 1.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 121,000 miles

So far this Ford Escape has left us stranded with the transmission linkage coming off transmission, torque converter failure, battery failure, and now cylinder #3 dead with coolant into the lower part of the engine. I had heard the 2.0l engine was a problem but I wasn't expecting a total failure of a 7 year old vehicle with 120,000 miles on it. I'll never buy another Ford again.

Escape SE 1.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 128,000 miles

Owner of a 2015 Ford Escape 1.6L with 132k Miles. White plumes of smoke have started to billow out every time I start my vehicle in the morning and then again on my way home from work. My understanding is that Ford knew about this major problem and now we're all stuck with fixing this. A New Long Block engine is about $3,500. I'm sure I speak for many of us when I say, not many of us have $3,500 in the bank to get this fixed. I'm going to start saving money but won't accumulates enough until maybe mid-next year. Hope the car lasts me until then.

My ford has had white/blue smoke clouds coming from the exhaust for weeks. I scheduled maintenance at a ford dealership and was told a diagnostic was not even worth the money because the knew exactly what the issue is, the coolant is leaking into the engine, causing the engine to smoke and eventually will misfire, overheat and catch fire. I was told there is no repair, the engine needed to be replaced and because my warranty had expired, I must pay to replace the engine. Although, Ford is aware of their mistake and faulty parts, Ford is not accepting responsibility for the issue they caused innocent buyers.

I am a single mother of an adopted kid. I bought this car 3 years ago under the impression Ford is a honest company.I am now seeing otherwise. I now am stuck with making a decision during a pandemic on paying upwards of 6 to 7,000 to replace an engine on a vehicle that has a faulty system, caused by Ford. If paying thousands of dollars on a vehicle that I can hardly afford now isn't hard to swallow, the newly purchased engine will result in the same failure because FORD HASN'T FIX THE PROBLEM.

Ford refuses to put in a new engine and Ford has not fixed an issue that has been occurring for almost 10 years, forcing Ford owners into debt and bankruptcy because where would a person like me get the money to pay for something like this again and again? I can't even afford to get into another car. I am scared to put my son in the vehicle now. I need help.
