Issue: Abrupt engine shutoff while driving at high speed. Occurance: While driving on an interstate highway at approximately 70MPH in far left lane, the vehicle abruptly shutoff. With no power, the power steering also did not function, however, had enough speed to safely pull onto the grass median. It appears the problem is with a known issue to Ford, which is the fuse for the fuel pump (#27 in the engine compartment PDB) will melt and cause either intermittent or complete failure even while driving at high speeds. Given the conditions I was extremely lucky to have been able to pull off, and then back on to the roadway safely. Ford has a fix available Fuel Pump Jumper Harness Kit. Kit Terminal Part #: WT56872 (14293) as a result of this problem, yet it seems there is no active recall for this to be installed. WHY"?" This could have resulted in multiple deaths and injuries for a single incident - I think that's unacceptable and hope NHTSA will concur and compel a recall to fix this issue.

There have been 3 times now that my vehicle has randomly died while driving on the highway and city streets. With the engine not running I lost power steering and almost couldn't make a turn. No warning lights, no chimes. Looking into it myself I found that the fuel relay 20amp fuse was melted and the plastic around the terminal also melted. Ford has a tsb out for this issue but I feel it should be recalled for safety purposes as there is no warning and you lose all power. Little to no steering or brakes until you come to a stop and pop the hood open and wiggle that fuse in hopes that it will make contact again. This means that you could be left stranded or get into an accident trying to stop. Many people in online forums have had this same issue and it needs to be addressed accordingly.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving, the vehicle shut off without warning. The vehicle was pulled to the side and later restarted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that there was high resistance from the wire that connected to fuel pump. The technician also diagnosed that there was a sign of excessive heat which caused the fuse location number 27 to melt. The contact referenced a tsb number: 15-0137. The contact called the penske Ford, located at: 8970 la mesa blvd, la mesa, ca 91942, (619)350-8731 and was referred to the manufacturer, however, the number was not the right number for the manufacturer. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000.

Smelled gasoline odor inside vehicle after cranking on a cold day. I drove it for several miles. I parked it. I was in building for about 15 minutes. When I came out, I smelled gas outside vehicle. After leaving I then took vehicle to crossroads Ford quicklane in cary nc. They found the plastic fuel line had split lenghtwise on top of fuel tank. They told me it was spraying gas. Part was apparantly defective. I am sure it could have caused a major fire or explosion because of being not far from exhaust pipe. Part replaced was 9L3Z-9S278-B. I am wondering if there have been unexplained fires or explosions because of this. Repair cost was $569.89

Several times my Ford F150 will suddenly not start and has left me stranded numerous occasions. One mechanic said it was the fuel pump so I replaced that. However, it happened again. Upon researching the internet, I discovered the fuel pump relay may need to be replaced. I took the rear defrosting relay and placed it in for the fuel pump relay and the truck started. However, several days later it happened again. In order to move my vehicle, I have used several different relays to get the truck to start and it's worked up until yesterday. I've bought new ones and it still wouldn't work. Upon further research, I decided to check the fuel pump fuse and it was melted to the fuse box. This made me look up recalls and tsb no. 15-0137 seems to be applicable. However, when I search my VIN, my vehicle is not listed under the recall. I believe it should be.

The fpdm was going bad. The truck would shut off in the middle of driving. Twice it died while turning and I couldn't steer. Once almost had me in the back of a parked car. This cost me over 300 dollars to fix. It's only going bacd because the are mounted to the steel gram and the aluminum backing on the fpdm is pitting and water is getting in. This problem also made it difficult to start, and messed with my mpg.

While driving on the highway the engine shut off. Upon inspection, fuse #27 burned out instead of blowing. This fuse controls the fuel pump, and when it burned up the fuel pump lost power at highway speed. Upon research it is a very common problem with the 2009-2014 year models and Ford issued a tsb but not a recall. I hadn't known about this when purchasing the truck used, and it is a very serious safety issue.

Vehicle would stall at random while driving. Mechanics at Ford advised that it was relay wire or harness wires for the airbag sensors that ran through the fuel tank were corroded or shorted out. They reported that the engineers at Ford made a bad call when they decided to run the wires through the fuel tank, which in turn resulted in me having to dish out 1500 bucks for the repair. This issue occurred multiple times prior to the repair on a truck with less than 53000 miles at the time, between during March or April of 2014 when I first purchased the used truck. Lost all power at various speeds and on several road types including highway, highway service road, residential street and farm to market road, while going strait and during turns, after multiple events and having put less than 1000 miles on it, I took it up to Ford. Grateful that no accidents occured during the episodes I experienced. I was able to cometo a stop, place the truck in park and restart it. Ttince the repair no issues. Love the F series pick ups and have owned several over a span of 18 years and its all my dads company uses. I know its been almost 4 years since having the issue but felt like I needed to say something to at least give others a head up or warning. Never set well with me. I still have the repair paperwork if needed.

11/29/18 will be the 6th time my engine shut off when coming to a stop and making a turn. Other 5 incidents were about 3 years ago. Each occasion, slowing down to a stop, engine shuts off while making a turn, and I put it in neutral while pressing brakes, starts up, and I keep going down the road. 122K miles, love the truck but this has me very concerned for my family riding in the truck. I looked up any recalls but did not find anything regarding this. F-150 forums have the exact same incidents and when taking to Ford dealership, they cannot find anything wrong. Please let me know my options of getting Ford to do something.

Ive had the same problem now twice in a row with the fuel pump 20A fuel in the fuse box under the hood getting hot and melting then blowing the fuse. This fuse if it hadn't blown would have caught the fuse box on fire. Ford makes a kit to bypass the tiny fuse to relicate it to a larger fuse in an open spot. There are multiple others in numerous forums who state they have had the same problem. Ford has never issued a recall for this issue that can turn bad if the fuse does not pop.

Ford F-150 will not start intermittently. The engine cranks but will not start. The issue has been identified with fuse #27 over heating but not blowing. Fuse #27 is the fuse for the fuel pump diver module. The engine has not died on me while in motion though there are multiple other instances of individuals who have had their vehicle die on them. (https://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-C21953_ds740770) I worry that I won't be so lucky as to have the issue only happen while parked and it only be an inconvenience. Ford has issued a tsb for 2009-2014 F-150S, tsb 15-0137 to relocate the fuse. I recommend NHTSA order Ford to recall of all trucks possibly affected so this does not create an accident in the future.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford F-150. After filling up the vehicle with fuel, the vehicle failed to restart. The contact attempted to start the vehicle for approximately 45 minutes before finally succeeding. The contact stated that the same failure occurred approximately six other times after the vehicle was refueled. The vehicle was not diagnosed by the dealer. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic where it was determined that the 20 amps fuel relay fuse and the high power relay were damaged and needed replacement. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 42,000.

My truck cranks but won't start. The fuse to the fuel pump relay was blown. I understand this is a problem with many truck owners and Ford is offering a bypass kit for this system for $400-$500. Shouldn't this be a recall if they're having to install a bypass kit?
