Truck gave "service advance trac" warning. Only 1 day later, a loud squealing came from front of truck, then less that 1 minute later, all steering was out. Fortunately I was in a parking lot when the steering went out while trying to park the vehicle. The noise came when turning the steering wheel either right or left. As of 6/18/2019, while checking mileage for this report, a warning of "power steering assist failure" came on.

The power steering has stopped working. There is a loss of steering control and impaired steering. The truck is impossible to drive and a huge safety hazard. We were told by our mechanic after he diagnosed it that this problem was part of a recall. Safety recall notice 14S09/NHTSA recall 14V316. We were then told by the Ford dealership that our trucks VIN number is not part of the recall. That makes no sense that we were told by the mechanic that the exact problems we are having is the exact same thing this recall is fir but our truck doesn't fall under it.

After hitting bumps in the highway the truck starts to wobble uncontrollably and the only way to get it back is to slow down to 30mph and then the wobble will stop. We have replaced the track bar, stabilizer, brakes and rosters, new tires, and balances.

Initial startup, vehicle is cold. Steering has binding occurring that increases and decreases as the wheel is turned in either direction as I am driving, as it is turned from full left to right, or right to left. It requires substantial force to continue to turn the wheel to get the vehicle to go in the desired direction. As vehicle warms up, the force required to turn the wheel lessens, but still requires significant force to steer in either direction. If it became necessary to make an avoidance maneuver, it may not be possible due to the force required to steer the vehicle in the necessary direction. This has been occurring for about a week.

While driving the power steering will lockup. It would last for a few moments and then be ok. Then while driving at normal speeds will continue to do this of and on till I stop. This all happens now every time I go anywhere. There is a recall for this matter on the 2014 F150 but Ford tells me not on my truck and they will not help me at all. This has been going on for months now and when I got it checked out that is when the dealer told me why it is happening. Recall #14S09 (epas)

The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the electric power steering malfunctioned. When the contact started the vehicle, he noticed that the steering wheel was tight. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who stated that the entire steering rack needed to be replaced. Sheehy Ford Lincoln of richmond (10601 midlothian turnpike, richmond, va 23235, (804) 794-0500) was contacted and advised the contact to call NHTSA. The dealer did not look up the VIN. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 97,805.

The service advancetrac and hill descent control fault come up on my dashboard and my power steering does not work. While most vehicles can be driven without power steering but this truck is not drivable without that feature. The lights and blinkers do not work. These faults happened while driving and I almost lost control of my vehicle and crashed. I'm lucky I didn't hit and kill somebody. This is a huge safety issue for which afford already knows about but refuses to fix our truck.

The power steering fails without warning. At times it requires 'muscling' the steering to turn or straighten the wheels after a turn. It happens when the vehicle is in motion on city streets, highway and turning. There are a lot of other Ford F-150 truck owners having the same problem as reported on different sites. This is a serious safety concern as it causes the driver to potentially lose control of the vehicle B/C it's unpredictable. It's very expensive to have 'fixed' if the service department even knows what to do or the repair fails! there have been recalls on this problem but only in a very limited date range. Also the power steering seems to be failing on other Ford vehicles, as even reported to NHTSA. Imagine losing steering while traveling on I-80 (esp in pa) or negotiating a turn. Please investigate!!!!

Power steering is only working intermittently. There was a recall on the model year, but my truck was not included. I see several online complaints about this from other owners that weren't in the recall. I live in a mountainous terrain with windy roads and if the power steering quits when zi don't expect it, I will veer off the road and have to jerk it back on.

Truck down shifts while driving. My pregnant wife and I were driving 70 mph on highway, when truck down shifted to 1st gear and nearly caused us to slide off road in the rain. Ford just recalled 2011-2013 for same problem! they need to recall 2014 as well! my truck was fixed at Ford dealership.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. While driving 50 mph, the vehicle decelerated and both rear wheels seized. The steering wheel also seized and became difficult to steer without warning. The contact was able to coast the vehicle to the side of the road and powered off the engine. The vehicle was restarted and was able to drive normally, but the failure recurred twice. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

2014 Ford F-150 stx 4 door. I bought this truck new and it's been a problem since around 26,000 miles. I reported the issue with Ford, took it to the dealer which went for a 30 mile joy ride I guess to tell me the problem couldn't be duplicated. Absolutely enrages me how this type of product can be sold to hardworking individuals knowing that there's an issue that puts lives at risk and still deny the claims. This vehicle has absolutely ruined me from driving and makes me sick every time I drive. There is no rhyme or reason as to which way the truck will go while driving. Driving down a road it travels from one side to another. If you get on the interstate and the wind is blowing you may as well get off and go all backroads or get ready to stroke out before you get to where your going. I don't think anyone understands the stress on a body of traveling on a freeway fighting to keep your vehicle on the road. The car in front of you moves it pushes the truck the opposite way, a car beside you it either pulls you toward them or big trucks nearly blow you off the road like your in a small car.you can never judge how much pressure to put on the wheel when making gradual or sudden turns on a road or highway because it's never the same. One minute you turn the wheel all the around to make a small turn and the next turn you barely touch the wheel and it may send you into the next lane. I was told by Ford to drive with one finger on the wheel that the epas notices the slightest movements and that I'm countering what it was designed to do. Absolute bs! I'm glad to see I bought a 40,000$ pos and the only thing Ford can do is give a smirk when I take it in knowing good and well they have an issue. How you don't have a recall going puzzles me and scary to think how many others are out there with the same problem traveling on highways. Junk
