Warning light appears "service advancetrac", then lost power steering. This happened twice while driving the vehicle. Happening intermittently. Drove to Ford dealership. Diagnosis was defective electronic steering gear. Ford had recall on this same issue by recall #14S09, but my truck was not included in recall. This is a safety issue and could have caused an awful accident. Obviously the epas steering gear is defective and vehicles with it need to be recalled before someone has a major accident.

  • 61,000 miles
2014 F150 with 61,000 miles intermittently loses power steering. Had it at the dealership twice until the condition happened. I was told that the steering shaft is failing and must be replaced (approx. Cost $1900). Doing research I found that there was a recall on the 2014 F150 (NHTSA id 14V316000) in which the steering assist was incorrectly assembled and must be replaced. Also, the recall only includes trucks manufactured between May 26 and June 19, I'm told my truck was not manufactured during that time and I am responsible for the repair.

Steering started getting tight the week of January 20,2020.it does loosen up slightly once you drive it for a few miles but it is not 100%.it is super hard to turn in the morning or after sitting 8 hours while at work. But I estimate it takes driving it about 6 to 10miles before it get easier. I have 73,000 miles on this truck and according to VIN. Date no recall on steering issue.

I was pulling out of a parking structure as I turn right and then try to sraighten into the street my steering wheel was not abel to turn N was making a funny noise as I tried to and almost crashed had to yank the steering wheel hard and was barely abel to turn enough to not hit a car now car is just abel to go straight.from my knowledge it has to do with the electric power steering the trucks come with and looked into it as I was parked as close as I could to the side of the street that the trucks are known for them giving out with no warning N a recall was done on a certain batch I called Ford N dey said no my truck has no recalls N read up that the recall number was 14S09 N was happening to alot of those truck models

When turning the steering wheel once in a while it seems hard to turn like you have a flat tire. I see there is a recall on some of the 2014 Ford F150, S but not my VIN number.I called Ford and they told me there is no recall. On the computer I see there is a recall bulletin under NHTSA. Campaign # 14V316000.

Starting a month or two ago while driving, the power steering on my Ford F150 stopped working leading to an inability to turn without using a lot of strength. The issue appears to be relatively intermittent but frequent. This means sometimes I have the ability to steer normally, but more frequently than not I am muscling the vehicle through turns. The only precedence I can find for this issue is a recall on my same make, model, and year for the electric power steering, but upon talking with Ford, my truck was not identified as part of the recall, even though all of the symptoms match. I cannot find any other precedence for the issue, and cannot find any guidance. All I know is that the vehicle is not safe to drive, as there is no telling whether or not I will be able to steer. On carcomplaints.com, it appears that about 70 other people have reported the same issue. Which leads me to believe the issue is very prominent, as I'm sure only a small percentage of people have reported the issue to this site.

I remotely started my truck that was parked in front of my house. I entered the truck to drive and got a warning light that said 'power steering assist fault'. I cannot move the steering wheel. I cannot steer the truck in any direction. This happened one day after my wife experienced the same issue but it corrected itself and she could drive the truck. The steering wheel is frozen and the truck is not maneuverable at all. Fortunately I was not driving fast when this happened.

  • 80,600 miles
While driving my 2014 F150 truck, the power steering suddenly got stiff whenever I turned into a right or left side street or encountered a tight curve in the road. Steering in these instances necessitated varying degrees of additional strength to make the turn and then the wheel rarely easily returned to a position to go straight thus resulting in over steering. I was towing my travel trailer through mountainous terrain at the time of the first incident on Sept. 23,2019, but the problem continued upon detaching the trailer and under more normal terrain conditions. The truck has 80,600 miles of mostly highway driving. After some research, I am feeling that it is the epas system causing the problem. I bought this truck in early 2015. It was a leftover from 2014. I have also seen that there is a recall (14509/NHTSA recall 14V316) for this year and make, but since the truck sat at the dealer during the recall, I am wondering if the epas recall work was actually done. I have set a service appointment with the dealer on 9/26/2019 (nemer Ford queensbury, NY) because I do not feel safe driving the vehicle and my wife will never be able to apply the strength necessary to turn the vehicle when the problem occurs. I fear how many of these vehicles are on the road waiting for really bad fatal accidents to happen. When the recall occurred, many of the affected vehicles were in the hands of dealerships and I am concerned that many were not repaired by those dealerships and the owners were never knowledgeable of the problem until incidents happened. There are many, many reports from owners of this make and model having epas systems.

When driving this vehicle the steering seems to lock up making a slight adjustment going down the highway will throw you either to the right or to the left if making a turn it will not turn in all of a sudden it will release itself and suddenly throw you into a turns harder than what you wish and if you're not real quick to react you will almost crash this that this is happened several times to us and also to the technician who just drove the vehicle he almost wrecked my truck because of steering locked up on him on a 90-degree turn this is a very much a safety hazard and a safety feature other trucks are the same year have been recalled for this and I believe the recall should be expanded this is a issue that was continuing to happen

My truck doesn't want to steer right. It's very hard to steer and sometimes the steering wheel sticks. Heard they are having issues with the electronic steering in these trucks. The vehicle is in motion when this is happening and it's when you are going around a bend. I should not have to pay to get this fixed. This is a major safety issue. It happens everytime I drive.
