problem #1

Focus ST 2.0L 4

I went to lock my car with the keyless remote and it would not lock until I pressed the "lock" button 3-4 times. The same thing happened when I tried to unlock my car. I tried using a spare remote, but the problem persisted. I replaced the battery in one of the remotes, but that did not fix the problem. While I was researching a solution to the problem, I started to use the emergency key that is provided (inside the keyless remote) to unlock/lock the car, as a quick-fix. Unfortunately, I found out that if the emergency key is used to unlock the car, the car alarm will go off if you don't turn on the car within 5 seconds. After about a week the lock button on the keyless remote stopped working completely, and I had to use the lock button on the inside door panel, to lock the doors.

A secondary issue happened at this time which was that the car would not recognize the keyless remote even if it was in the car. I would need to put the remote in the designated area (inside the arm rest compartment) so that the car would recognize the key and allow me to start the car.

I gave up my troubleshooting/researching after about 2 weeks, and now have the car in the dealership. Hopefully they can find a solution, but seeing that it has been there for the past 4 days, and the updates by the dealership have been inconclusive, I'm getting worried.

If anybody else has had a similar problem feel free to comment on this.
