problem #2

Aug 012012

Fusion SE V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 75,000 miles

Under the warranty they said that since it was not an electrical degrees like 72% and it had a turn knob it was not covered. As of today FORD never fixed it and still goes on and off by itself...

Fusion SE V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

Believing the Edmunds ratings and other similar publications about the fusion, I took the leap. Mechanically, nothing happened the first three years with the exception of the interior parts quality, the silver plating started lifting on the inside door levers within a year of buying the car. About the same time, loading the CD player, I get a "bad CD error message" so I have to eject the CD, re-load it before the CD will play. This is consistent with operating the CD portion of the car's radio. Oh yeah, the sunroof side curtains fell apart.

The next problem arose within the first year of the car, the brake rotors warped and I do not know why. I took the car into the local dealer thinking it a warranty issue, I was sternly told I had caused the problem with my driving, to which I replied I had to call BS on that one. I went to my regular mechanic with the problem, and to no suprise, he told me he'd turned the rotors on several other fusions with similar front end vibrations. His opinion and mine after looking at the rotors and shoes, poor quality parts. He told me to driver the car untill the problem arose again and recommended replacing with thicker rotors. After the rotors were turned I haven't had a problem.

Next problem is AC exactly after warranty period ended; It work intermittently, been checked for proper charging, no one seems to be able to locate a condensate tube, and it takes 30 mins of driving to begin cooling; In order to get it to cool at all, I have to turn on the windshield wipers and the temperature will drop noticably. My wife refuses to ride in the car.... period. Have had problems with 3 other fords we've owned and have switched to GMC/Chevy.

I have a 98 corvette that gets better gas mileage than the fusion, even on a bad day, 30-31 MPG to work and on trips, and oh yeah, frosty AC so my opinion of the fusion, the so called 06 car of the year is this car is one of the worst cars I've owned and consder it a POS (and that is not an abbreviation for positive feelings)
