Fusion SE V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 153,300 miles

My car began to shake , jerk and stopped being able to drive on the freeway over three months ago. When I took the car to the dealership, they told me that the cv joints were needed to be replaced and that they fixed my check engine light issue. I was told that it was the intake manifold. They said that my check engine light turned off and I paid them $3000.00 and left. By the time I drove one mile, the check engine light came back on and my car still exhibited the same problems. I could not drive over 50 miles p/hour and if I tried to, then the car would begin to shake uncontrollably, jerk and I would have to take side streets everywhere. I then drove to work one morning and with the check engine light on. I began to hear loud clicking and my car stopped moving. I could rev it up, but the car would no longer move. I had the car towed back to Ford this time. When I was done there, I was told the front axle had broke and that they fixed it free of charge and that my check engine light was now off again. By the next day, my check engine light was back on and my car still cannot be driven on the freeway. I still have the shaking, the jerking and now the hard gear shifting. I am afraid to take my car back to ford at this point.

Fusion SEL V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50,889 miles

Coming home from church my car started lurching, making a terrible noise and knew I had a serious problem. Took car to local Ford dealer and they determined the transmission had a major failure and repairs would be around $2500 or so. I am retired, on Social Security, and had car serviced at same dealership since original purchase. There were no dash lights, no advance warning of the transmission failure. Original warranty is 5 years/60,000. I had car for 6 years, but had only 50,889 miles as I do not travel much.

Wrote a registered letter to Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan on November 21st for relief on my bill as transmissions just do not crash with so few miles. Today, I finally received a response from Ford, dated December 28th, but there was no relief given in their letter.

Was my first Ford purchase, and will be my last. Traded the car like a hot potato for a 2018 Toyota Camry LE and hope any 2011 Ford Fusion owners will think hard about keeping their vehicle or getting rid of it.
