Was in reverse to enter a parking spot, shifted down to drive (lever moved to D) but car stayed in Reverse. I could freely move the lever from Drive to Reverse but the transmission would not shift out of reverse. I moved car to parking spot, moved lever to park (car never shifted out of reverse), put the emergency brake on, then shut the car off. The car will no longer start now because the transmission is stuck in Reverse (lever is in park). Significant safety issue...I could have unknowingly reversed into anything or anyone at first when I "shifted" to Drive remaining in reverse. Upon inspection the bushing/cap did fall off of the shifting cable, which was recalled on thousands of Fords same model and year. Consumer had to pay for a cap and seal to replace the one that was missing.

The power steering goes out randomly, mostly when it is hot outside or on the interior. It is not included in the current recall for this issue, however it needs to be. It happened in 2021 and now is still happening in 2022. No issues prior to the failure until power steering alert goes off. I have almost crashed multiple times due to this failure.

This recall should apply to my VIN but the dealer say it does not. NHTSA ID: 19V362 My car did exactly this issue thought I had put the vehicle in Park by the shifter but when I went to get out of the vehicle it started to roll away. I have found this part in the recall notice is what the problem but they won't replace it. So now I have a unsafe vehicle.

On February 15th 2022 I experienced to failure in my powertrain system regarding the transmission center cable. I had my vehicle in park in a public lot and it began to roll away towards oncoming traffic. Thankfully I noticed and was able to get back into my vehicle and apply the emergency break before anyone was hit or injured when I looked closer I realized my gear shifter was in park but the dashboard read that my car was still in drive. When I tried to move the shifter It was completely stick in place and I had to get my vehicle towed to a Ford dealership. I spent $256.59 to have the transmission shifter cable replaced. In doing research on the issue I have learned there have already multiple recalls for this exact issue on 2016 Ford Fusion but when speaking to the dealership and looking on this website I was informed that my specific vehicle was not included in this recall therefore the repairs would not be covered. Also in my research I learned many other Ford Fusions who were not included in the recall have experienced the same exact system failure and safety concern. The Ford dealership that did the repair said it was the same part failure that resulted in the recall of the other vehicles. No warning lights messages or other signs appeared prior to the failure or notified me that a failure had occurred.

At a fuel stop I put shifter into park and turned off engine. When refueling was completed car would not come out of park. Dash shift indicator showed car was in neutral. Car was towed to local Ford dealer where inspection showed shifter cable had detached from transmission. The Ford dealer service department repaired the issue by replacing shift cable bushing (part number DG9Z*7K340) and cap (part number DG9Z*7S004). It is unknown if the replaced parts are available for inspection since I do not know if the service department retained them. It is unknown if components have been inspected by others. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. After researching this problem this appears to be the same issue that prompted a recall of the 2016 Ford Fusion with 2.5L engine.

We have a 2016 Ford Fusion. We-€™ve already had major engine work done on it by the dealership about 2 years ago. Then about a year later, the transmission wouldn-€™t go into gear. We took it in to have looked at and they said that the bushings failed and the shifter cable detached from the transmission. They charged us $184 and sent us on our way. They failed to tell us that this can damage the transmission cause now a year later they are telling me I need a new transmission on a 2016 Ford Fusion. This is the 2nd Ford Fusion I-€™ve had that had a transmission go early. I-€™ve also had a F-150 with Transmission problems. I was assured that they fixed the problems from the older years when I purchased this new from The dealer. The Ford Fusion has had a recall on the shifter cable and knew that it was going to cause problems down the road and didn-€™t say anything. I shouldn-€™t have to pay 6,000 dollars for a new transmission when they knew this was going to happen after the shifter cable disengaged from the transmission
