Vehicle is an Odyssey and is painted White and has peeling paint in front of moon roof and on the rear lift gate in two spots. Honda Co first agreed to pay for half of the repair paint job and on reconsideration said they refuse to pay for anything. The 2014 Odyssey is covered by a TSB which pays for a repair paint job. Our 2015 Odyssey is not covered and has the exact same paint defect.

Rear passenger sliding door power system failed causing the door to be stuck in the open position on 2 occasions. The driver's side rear sliding door has also done the same. The cause is the nylon rollers on the door wear out and cause the door to pull unevenly which in turn cause pulley system and cabling to pull at an unnatural angle in the mechanism/drive motor causing the door to be inoperable. This causes the door to not be able to be opened or closed in the immediate instance which this happens. This causes the vehicle to be undrivable until the cables are cut allowing the door free flow alng the track manually without restriction. At a later date and time, the nylon rollers have worn out to the extent that the passenger side rear door has become uneven in the track making the door inoperable at any time as the door is unable to be opened completely. This is both an annoyance that only the driver rear door is operational as well as a safety hazard causing the only exit of the rear of vehicle to be into the traffic side of the vehicle when stopped on a road, school drop-off, parked along a curbside, etc. This is an ongoing and known issue to Honda, which has a highly priced replacement process in order to correct this issue which includes replacing the rollers with metal rollers as well as a new logic board and a new motor to replace the failed system.

The Honda Odyssey 2015 ex model doesn't seem to allow the passenger to open and exit from the rear door in case of emergency when the four sides doors are not accessible. The more advanced version ex-L has an automatic powered door installed, so this is not a major issue. I don't know if there is a manual backup option to open when the power is down. As of now, I can not find any lever for a trapped passenger to open the door to escape from the inside. I didn't realize this until I was trapped when my car parked on a very closed, tight, and narrow parking slot, and all 4 side doors were not accessible. I realized there is no way to escape from the rear except to break the rear window. I think there needs to be a safety mechanism that allows the trapped passenger to open the rear door from the inside without needed to break the window, which can commonly occur. In case of a major catastrophe, it would be the passenger unfortunate doom. I hope Honda would soon look into installing an escape route from the rear door.

On December 28th we unloaded the back of our minivan and closed the liftgate and everything was fine. The next morning we came out and there was a 5"X5" section of the paint just peeled off and laying on the ground it peeled all the way down to the base color (perhaps primer layer). Realizing this was clearly a defect we quickly did our research and realized this is a very common issue with Honda vehicles, specifially Odyssey and commonly in the white pearl color. Brought the car to the dealer to have them look at it. They quickly asked if I wanted and estimate. I explainted that I was aware this was a common defect at which point they acknowledged it is an issue with the primer and they would take images and get in touch with Honda Corp. Honda Corp said my VIN did not qualify for their warranty extension as that only applies to 2012-2014 models. My car was delived in 2014, but was the 2015 model. They knowingly have sold me a defective product and they are refusing to take ownership of this widespread issue. This section is clearly going to spread. The cases that are more advanced than mine are ridiculous.

With vehicle in park, the drivers side rear sliding door opened normally and then would not close all the way. It would start to close and then stop and retract again. All methods for closing the door, both electrically and manually, were unsuccessful. Attempts were also made to close the door with the engine on and off.

I purchased my 2015 Honda Odyssey brand new and have done all the maintenance on time with Honda. My sliding doors do not stop if something is in the way. I have had multiple times where a child has tried to go in/out while the door is shutting and it has not stopped, this is a safety issue! then in 2018 with only 32K miles or so I started to hear a squeal type noise at 2K RPM and about 60mph. It only happened a few times on the road trip then again on my next road trip. Honda looked at it and said they didn't know but the transmission fluid should be changed. It was changed at 29000 miles with the 30,000 mile maintenance. When it happened again on the freeway I took it in again, now at 47,000 miles. Honda says the transmission fluid is dirty and needs to have work done. 4 weeks later I am still waiting for local Honda to get ok from head Honda for fix of throttle control whine. Honda tech was able to hear the whine/squeal while driving it.

Cable on back drivers side door snapped for no reason. Did not notice until van was parked and turned off and went to open door. Never heard a sound or understand why it broke. When the weather gets cooler the tail lift won't open. It is not power lift. I can pull as long and hard as I can and it won't move. I bought this as a used vehicle IN2018 in the summer so didn't find this out until it cooled down. The back door sensor always thinks the back is open once it warms up which makes the car alarm go off.

Door almost killed my daughter. We were getting kids buckled in and my 2 year old daughter fell down. I went to the other side to help her. When I opened the door I saw she was stuck between the door and the seat and the door was moving back on her. Her head was jammed between the sliding door cup holder and the side of the van. I am 220lbs and with all my might was holding the door from opening all the way and I think crushing her head (as the door going back with the cup holder on the floor- was pinning her head between the door and the van). This needs to be fixed. The door is very good with any obstruction while the door is closing is sensed by the door and it immediately stops. You need a similar sensor so that if a head, or arm or leg is caught in the door while it is sliding back to open, it would stop immediately. The door close button would have worked or pulling the handle out (which I did not know at the time) but I did not think of it as I was in a panic trying to stop the door from crushing my daughters head. It should have automatically stopped in case an adult was not there please fix this this really could have killed my daughter instead her ear is very hurt but should be ok. Thanks so much- tim

My wife's Honda Odyssey, while crossing/turning a city road at a low speed, was hit (obvious from approximately 90 degree angle) near the front by a volkswagon beetle turbo moving at 35 miles or less per hour. Apparently, all the front airbags (the driver and passenger side all airbags) of the Odyssey were apparently explosively deployed destroying almost the entire front upper inside of the vehicle. We suspect the airbags (we do not know but they might be faulty takara airbags) might have prematurely deployed given the low speeds of the vehicles before the crash and minimal visible body damages. After the accident, volkswagon was perfectly driveable with very minimum visible damage to its front and was driven away without doubt. Please investigate whether the Odyssey air bags or any other manufacturing defects were at play during this accident. The Odyssey is currently at a bodyshop in Virginia beach, va. Insurance Agency has decided to total the vehicle apparently principally due to extensive cost of replacing all the airbags and related damages. I am the owner of the Odyssey. Attached are two photos. Your prompt response and action will be highly appreciated.

The van has power sliding doors. Ever since it was new, we have had problems with the doors not closing. We have been told several times by the dealer that it is because we live on gravel. I finally took the van apart myself and found that the rubber coating had come off the cable that closes the door and bunched up and would let it slide freely. I bought a new and within a month it was doing the same thing. The coating was coming off. We just took it back to Honda and were told again it was dust but the coating is coming off the other side and jamming it up too. My wife hit a deer recently and this is where the problem is. The power door wouldn't slide and when you put it on manual mode which shuts the doors off, it won't slide either and my wife had to climb over the front seat and get my son out of his seat. If this was an emergency situation I don't know what would happen. Worst part, my wife says that it has never worked and she asked Honda about it and they said it was because we live on gravel. Now that our warranty is up, they want to sell us a bunch of new parts. I just ask that someone look into this problem because of the safety factor. I consider myself to be pretty strong and I can't sit on the inside the van and force it open so I don't know what my kids would do if something happened to my wife if there was an accident.

The contact owns a 2015 Honda Odyssey. While driving 60 mph with the sun roof tilted open, the glass shattered into pieces without warning. A couple of pieces fell into the vehicle. The contact was uninjured. The vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic or dealer for diagnostic testing or repair. The contact called spreen Honda (25050 redlands blvd, loma linda, ca 92354 (909) 799-7070) and was informed that a rock probably struck the glass. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 49,100.

I was traveling down an interstate at 70mph, when the sunroof spontaneously exploded. There was nothing above me, except for the sky, and no vehicles in front or behind me. It was approximately 75 degrees on a clear summer day. Sounded like an explosion when it occurred. Took the vehicle into the dealer, and they contacted the rep for warranty claims, and denied my claim, stating that it was caused by impact. Had the rep call me and he was absolutely unwilling to work with me at all. Studies have shown that it is "practically impossible to get an impact break on the top of a car". additionally, a me professor at uc berkeley calculated that a rock lofted into the air by a vehicle tire would reach a height of 10-15 feet and would have to come down at 70-80 mph to break the sunroof. "there is not a chance in the world that an unintentional rock that is lofted by a vehicle would ever break a sunroof panel. The maximum velocity of a rock coming down would be 25 mph, well short of the 70 mph". just like the other complaints on here about this issue, the glass was bowed out on the sunroof, like an explosion, and there was no damage to the sunroof sliding visor that you would expect to see if something really did impact the sunroof causing it to break. Honda has been absolutely unwilling to admit that this is an issue, and they claim they've never heard about this happening before. A simple internet search finds numerous issues of sunroofs exploding on newer model vehicles.

While driving down the highway on an 80 degree sunny day an explosion sound above my head. Opened moon roof visor and glass was shattered. Stopped and looked at the damage. Looked like something pushed it out vs being hit by anything. There was an 8" hole right in the middle and all the shards of glass around it pointed up. Nothing hit us as both my wife and I where paying attention and no bang like a rock or debris makes when hitting the windshield.
