I hit a racoon or coyote on the lower front right side. The air bags did not inflate or open but the airbag light on the dashboard is on continuously. After fixing the front light which broke, the body shop could not reset the airbag (SRS). Honda dealer put the following: "SRS light is on and SRS unit has internal failure due to vehicle been involved in front end accident. Tried to clear and retrieve code but failed. Customer decline repair. Need to replace SRS unit (unable to communicate and unable to retrieve code after multiple tries").

Honda is asking for $1100 to replace the "burned" SRS unit. Somehow, this is not covered by warranty. The SRS unit shorted and the air bags did not deploy and somehow this is OK.

Update from Feb 27, 2017: I repaired the SRS unit for $900 at Honda. Now they are saying that they can see the error code and that I need another $700 to fix that error. Obviously, nothing was under warranty according to Honda.
