Forester

  • Manual transmission
  • 4,000 miles

Have owned 4 Subarus (2001 Forester, 2002 Outback, 2008 Outback, 2009 Forester). Only one was able to keep the compass running for life of vehicle and it had the usual head gasket blows, coolant drains, overheats even after major repairs at 65K miles. Compass usually fails (unreadable display) within one year of purchase new. Didn't even bother to try for repair - got a GPS with a direction item in the display by the time this one went out.

Forester Limited 4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 34,000 miles

Vehicle is 2009 Forester with factory Electronic mirror/compass. After 4 years, compass does not work, space for direction is blank. seems odd seeing Forester is advertised as a sport type vehicle. I would think a decent compass would be a given. The vehicle is not driven hard or abused, and I am the only driver of vehicle.
