I was at a stop light and when the light turn green I started driving forward and the ABS/ Brake lights on instrument cluster came on with repeated blinking. I slowed off the gas to apply the brakes. Brake pedal went to the floor with no brakes or slowing down at all. Luckily no one was in front of me and I had to pull the emergency brake. It was the only brakes I had at all. Once vehicle was towed to the nearest Toyota Dealer I had them diagnose the problem. Right rear wheel had leaked out fluid due to the rear brake cylinder failing. Upon repair of all brake pads, rotors, brake shoes, brake drums, both rear brake cylinders the problem was still an issue. Costly amounts of money already being spent to find out another failure with the Brake Master Cylinder/ Module. That part alone is also very expensive. Research has shown that the 2018 and 2019 Toyota Tacoma-??s did have history of faulty brakes in turn possibly causing an accident. For my case on the road I was lucky. I can-??t understand a loyal customer of years with Toyota that the company refuses any sort of aid and assistance in the matter. Why did the recalls end? Especially if this affected not just the 2018 model but the 2019 model like my Tacoma as well. For such low miles and no abuse this vehicle has faced other failures not only with the brakes alone. Vehicle is still with the Dealer at this time. Requesting some assistance in the matter please. Thank you!

I take it Toyota and they tell me everything is fine and it was just a traction issue with the program of the truck

Brake pedal went to floor as I tried to stop truck from hitting a VW that rear ended a truck in front of them. I can still press brake pedal to floor taking just a few seconds to do so. I have forward this fact to my insurance adjuster, along with the dash camera footage of the accident.

In a matter of minutes, the brakes were fine and then they weren't. there was no notice given. Pushed on the brakes, the pedal went to the floor and did not stop or slow the vehicle down. Pumped the brakes and was able to safely decelerate, but not before almost crashing into the car in front of me. An independent brake shop has indicated the master cylinder is leaking internally. There is a safety recall (18V-888) for production dates of 30 days before this vehicle was produced. Seems to me that this vehicle exhibits the identical behavior in the recall that applies to "not" this one. At least at the time of this writing.

Multiple occurances - 2019 Tacoma 42xxx miles and on the 3rd issue of warping front rotors. Vehicle is highway driven primarily and rotors warp and cause shaking while braking at or around 3000 miles after having them cut or replaced. Shaking is violent when slowing from 65-70mph and lightly present durring city driving. This issue was also a problem on my previous 2019 Tacoma, my 2018 Toyota chr, and my 2014 Toyota corolla leading me to believe this is not a model specific issue. On past vehicle the concern was resolved by switching to a non oem rotor. Every Toyota I have driven that was 20110 or newer also has a heavy front bias to its brake pressure distribution which is more thank likely a key component to the cause of this ongoing concern.

Vehicle stops as expected with normal braking action. While sitting stopped with engine running applying pressure to brake pedal results in brake pedal going almost to the floor ~ seems like the brake pressure is "bleeding off" from the system. In this situation - brake pedal almost to floor - the vehicle does not move. Took vehicle to dealer and they said this was "normal" ~ never had this situation in any other vehicle I have owned or driven. In all other vehicles I have driven when the brake is pressed, sopping the vehicle, and with constant pressure on the brake pedal, the pedal does not slowly go down to almost the floor.

My 2019 Tacoma 4X4 dbl cab SR5 has 22000 miles on it and has a history of the brakes pulsing. The dealer has replaced both front and rear brakes at 5K and 11K miles, and now again at 22K miles. At each service appointment I complained that the brakes pulse badly, and they confirm that the rotors and back drums are warped. So they replace the rotors & drums, and the problem is relieved for a time, but the pulsing comes back within a few thousand miles. I keep telling the service people that there must be a different problem causing the brakes to warp but they just shrug it off.

When applying the power brakes at a stop the pedal after a few seconds starts to fade to the floor if released and reapplied they come back up to stop position and will fade again. When backing up and brakes are applied and backing slowly to house garage the brake starts to fade to the floor and has to be reapplied to stop the truck. Yesterday in a shopping mall I had to go around a parked car with another car headed in my direction had to apply brakes and slowly move past the parked car the pedal went so far down my foot hit the accelerator and had to take my foot off the brake pedal and reapply the brakes. Had truck back to Toyota dealer twice and they insist there is no problem with the truck. If you have ever driven an older car where the master cylinder fails that is exactly what it feels like, having that experience once in my driving career of over 60 years/ the truck to me is not a safe vehicle to drive and am concerned for myself and my wifes safety.called customer service 1-800 number and was told nothing they can do if service dept said no problem with the truck, looking for some solution I see others have posted the same problem on your web site. Thank you.

The contact owns 2019 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated while driving 40 mph, the brake pedal was depressed however, the vehicle failed to stop in a timely manner. The contacted stated that while depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle would vibrate as well as the brake warning light would be illuminated. The vehicle was taken to northridge Toyota (19550 nordhoff St, northridge, ca 91324) where the brake drums were replaced. The contact stated the failure recurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer at least four times for the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

  • 6,900 miles
When driving my 2019 Toyota Tacoma (approx. 6900 miles) I noticed the brakes were not firm after initial application. The pedal then would slowly sink to the floor and braking power was drastically reduced that time. I pumped the brake and achieved better braking result but when constant pressure was applied the braking result diminished very quickly. This continued during all driving conditions. To me it very closely resembled a master brake cylinder seal failure, which I have experienced with vehicles in the past. I checked the brake fluid level and operated the brakes in a stationary position and the same symptoms occurred. The brake fluid in the reservoir was at the correct level and did not vary. I was able to return the vehicle to the dealer for diagnosis and repair. Upon inspection of the vehicle I was notified that the technician believed the brake master cylinder was faulty. The dealer has ordered the replacement part and provided a rental vehicle at no charge. I was informed everything would be a warranty covered repair.

Two days ago I felt slightly softer brake pedal on normal driving. Yesterday, 6/25/20, I was traveling in a 60 mph speed zone approaching a traffic light. Light turned yellow and I attempted to slow and stop. I immediately noticed the brake pedal went very soft and could be pushed almost to floor with very little braking effect. Stopped about two feet into the intersection. Continued trip with caution and soft and abnormal braking capability. Calling Toyota today.

I started to notice when you would stop at a red. Light and apply the brakes the pedal would slowly ease off like it had air in the brake line.this went on for a couple of months.I had a doctors appointment and when I got to the office and was pulling in the parking space I pressed the brake and it went to the floor so I pressed the second time and the same thing I didn't have time to try the third time because I hit the concrete wall and did approximately $5200 damages to my vehicle.the engine has a noise in engine compartment on the passenger side that sounds like a lifter making a noise that can be heard over the engine running.the brake problem I believe has to do with the booster.

Recalled fuel pump with no remedy- constant vibration from 20-40mph - automatically braking from shadows- automatically redlines when cold driving - various trim melting from the sun - power steering fluid disappearing told them at every service since new - again on March 25 was told truck was good - then on March 26 they tell me they are replacing an entire steering rack. Rear brake drums are loud and clumsy feeling - rear end whine - mpg 17 at the best- stalls shifting from D > R < D. this truck is a death trap. It is sitting at the dealership waiting for a fuel pump recall remedy. The auto braking and automatic acceleration has almost killed me and most likely would have a less experienced driver. Toyota of nashia nh have given me no updates. They have locked me into this lease without paying thousands to get out of it. The date of occurrence I put is a random date as all of these issues have been happening since ieased the vehicle brand new. Toyota of nashua of course can never replicate any problems. I need help asap getting away from this truck and I cannot get any help. I am 100 percent disabled veteran and needed a reliable vehicle not a death trap. Help me please.

  • 4,300 miles
In the 3 or so months I have had the vehicle, I have experienced several instances of intermittent braking issues. When coming to an unexpected or urgent stop, the brake pedal feels like it cannot be depressed any further and increased pressure to the pedal does not increase stopping power. I am an athletic male weighing 205 pounds (point of reference for you on how much pressure I am able to apply). Having owned dozens of cars over 35 years, I have never experienced anything like this. The closest I can describe the issue to any of my experiences would be this: It feels very similar to using a brake on a vehicle that has power brakes when the engine is not running and there is a loss of vacuum to the system. At first, there is initial vacuum assist, but after a moment, incredible pressure is needed to stop the vehicle. I view this as an urgent and important issue. So much so, that I want to get rid of the vehicle for the safety of myself and others. Since the problem is intermittent, I don't know if the dealer can help. I will bring it to them for a check-up as a precaution though. I have tried to replicate the issue in abandoned parking lots, but have yet been unable to do so. There have been at least 3 incidents where this has occurred to me in the 4,000 miles I have driven the truck. I bought the vehicle new and followed the break-in procedures outlined in the manual. It had clear instructions to avoid hard stops, which I was careful to do.

I was drivin in the highway 65 M/H and I was using the cruise control, just as it passed through the ezpass toll booth the pre-collision system activated and brake abruptly, I also feel that when you drive about 60 miles per hour you apply the brake I feel small vibrations in the car and finally the 4X4 control knob is close to the fan knob and by mistake I connected the 4X4 when I want to turn on the fan I think it should have something like security to not be connected so easily

1. vibration felt when slowing down. Usually between 50 and 20. Below 20 it goes away. Feels like the tires are out of balance but my truck has 8K miles on it and I have felt it since the day I bought it. 2. also when the transmission is out of gear and clutch is out or the rear end makes a squeaking noise when hitting bumps. 3. clutch makes a noise when releasing it. 4. high pitch hum in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th when maintaining consistent speed. Took it to the dealer, the dealer was able to replicate the issues with comparable truck on their lot and brushed it off as normal.
