At approx. 67K my fuel pump failed. I purchased and installed a new fuel pump, adhering to the manufacturers installation recommendations. Less than 6 months later the new pump failed. The has been a recurring problem now for at least 10 fuel pumps. This installation recommendations have not changed and I have had the electrical system that powers the pump checked out as well. In each condition it was a no start "failure", leaving me stranded in each case and costing me hundreds of dollars in towing fees that are non-refundable. Even though the auto parts stores have been kind enough to honor the warranty most times I have still had to pay for at least 5 of the 10 fuel pumps. That's a 1 to 1 ratio. I have also read about the condition with brushes in the motor wearing out. Some of these pumps have provided 30K miles or more and others not 3K mi. This is a huge problem and I for one will not be shopping for another Chevy until this problem acknowledged and resolved. I am researching my purchases/exchanges to verify the dates and will register each one of them individually.

I am the owner of a 2003 Chevy Cavalier and I have 2 complaints that should have been recalls as there are many with the same 2 problems, first every gauge in my car quit working no RPM, no gas guage and no speedometer. Second ever since I bought my car for no reason at all it would just stall at redlights when I would take off, dealer said no problem, I have nearly wrecked many times because of this, the latest was today I have read many forums that say they found out it was the faulty plastic fuel pump, why no recall this is going to get someone killed.

I have read on several websites that this is a common and sometimes continuous problem with this particular year's model. Roadside assistance was called to the scene and the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. A certified mechanic inspected the vehicle and stated that the fuel pump failed. The contact made several attempts to restart the engine, but it failed to restart. There were no warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. Car went dead because fuel pump let go at 50,000 miles the bill came to 700 and something and I have the receipt for it I do not have the old part but the garage can be contacted about how damaged it was it is a reputable garage that fixed it.

Fuel pump on 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier went out. Only have 110,000 miles on car. We were driving down I59 when car stalled out. Car has been sitting in drive way for 2 months because we can not afford to dish out $600 right now. I called GM and they said we pay for the diagnostic they may be able to help with repair. I know it is a long shot but worth a try. If they do not pay for repair it will be another 2 months before we can get our car back because we will have to pay a little out of each paycheck. There goes christmas.

My car almost came to complete stop on the freeway after it post power and started slowing down. Luckily was able to coast off the freeway offramp. My mechanic said it was the fuel pump on my 2003 Chevy Cavalier. After internet searching, I saw that many, many others had the same problems and that it should be on the recall list. Put my name on that complaint list. Maybe after someone dies will they get the part recalled.

My fuel pump gave out on a 2003 Chevy Cavalier after 86,000 miles of proper maintenance. I'm not really sure of the events that lead up to this problem, but after speaking with other owners of cavy's, I am not the only one. I am having to repair this problem with 700 dollars!!! please investigate this to see if there is a possible recall on fuel pumps of Chevy Cavaliers before someone else has to come out of pocket 700 dollars.

My 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier broke down with me and my daughter in it. It just stopped running. Come to find out it was the fuel pump and when I had it looked at the person said that a lot of them are having the same issue. All at around 60,000 to 80,000 miles. It seems that the electrical connection is faulty and melts. It seems that some people have had fires. When I searched online I found thousands of people with the same problem. I'm just glad that I was not one of the unfortunate people that had a fire.

No start and stall condition on my 2003 Cavalier. It started with a no start. After reading on the internet about someone pounding on their fuel tank I attempted this and tried to restart the car and it restarted. This frequency of no starts has increased. Recently while driving, the car stalls as if the car is out of gas. Once it stalls it will not start. I banged on the bottom of the fuel tank and attempted to restart the car and it would start. The frequency of the stalls also are increasing and occurs when driving regardless of speed. The last stall was on Oct. 22, 2008 while traveling at 50 mph. The restarts are becoming more difficult. It now requires one person to turn the ignition while one is under the car pounding on the fuel tank. It appears to be a faulty fuel pump. The engine turns over but appears to not be receiving gas. The fuel filter has already been replaced.
