Random loss of power steering while vehicle is moving. Pulling over, shutting truck off and restarting usually clears up the issue. Previous recall number is 21V213. My truck does not qualify for this recall but is now having this issue.

My 2015 Colorado is repeatedly losing power steering. Twice while driving and three times upon starting the vehicle the power steering has failed. A warning light shows on the instrument panel to service the power steering. After parking and restarting the truck I have been able to resume driving. This is a VERY FRIGHTENING AND DANGEROUS SITUATION. I learned there was a partial recall of SOME 2015 Colorados, however my truck was not included. I have an appointment with my local Chevy dealer on Monday, August 28.

The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact previously received notification of the NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V054000 (Steering), and the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the recall repair was completed; however, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel became stiff and difficult to maneuver. The power steering assist warning light illuminated. The contact turned off the vehicle, then opened and closed the driver-??s side door and the steering wheel started to perform as designed. The contact stated that the front driver-??s and passenger-??s side low beam and the rear passenger-??s side taillight failed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the steering rack had failed and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that a percentage of the repair cost would be covered. The failure mileage was approximately 110,372.

I lost Power Steering while traveling on an interstate. Luckily at the speed I was traveling it wasn't difficult to steer the vehicle. Once I reached my destination and at a slower speed it was extremely difficult to turn. I turned off the engine and restarted and then it was fine. But the incident has happened about 5 other times at a slower speed. The vehicle is very difficult to steer when making turns. Each turn I was lucky there was not another vehicle in the opposite lane. Otherwise I could have crashed. I took the vehicle to the dealer and they had no detail of which vehicle were involved in service bulletin 15595B. The gave me an 800# to call and was told that my vehicle was not involved. It is obvious that my vehicle should had been included. The bulletin is very vague to the dealer and the consumer. It just reads "certain vehicle".

Power steering keeps cutting out as well as stabilitrak, after supposedly being fixed under the 2015 recall. Original recall wasn't even done properly according to the recall informational sheet. Second recall in 2021, I never received any recall letters, now dealership are saying I am out of recall warranty and want me to replace the entire steering rack assembly instead of just the torque sensor cover as stated in the revised 2021 recall, this is an inherent safety issue that has been recalled multiple times now so it should be covered or at least replaced properly.

I lost power steering while driving the truck. My safety was put at risk because I lost power steering in a curve without warning. I have not had a chance to take it into a dealer yet but this has happened twice. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone yet. No warnings prior to losing the power steering just went out all of a sudden.

Was in a drive thru line luckily, was pulling out to leave and light came up on dash reading -??Service power steering, drive with care.-?? The steering wheel would barely budge. Luckily drove off to side and turned car off. Waiting a few seconds and the light went off and everything was working like normal again. This was actually the second time in a week this happened. The other time was pulling out of my driveway, so I have been lucky where this has happened. I saw some vehicles have been recalled for this, but not mine for some reason and I am having the exact isssues.

Power Steering failure, while vehicle in motion. Warning message of same. Additional indication that "stabili track" is off line. Back up camera also does not function when this error is present. Turning vehicle off *usually* allows the system to function again when restarted. Not always. Steering becomes very difficult after this failure... certainly dangerous. Can yank wheel out of my hands if it occurs in a turn. Temperature seems to be a factor as this has happened many dozens of times in the past few years. On cold days (near freezing) the system seems more reliable. On warmer days, failures are frequent. Appears to match previous recall(s), but this VIN is not on recall list.

The power steering assist may be lost due to a poor electrical connection within the steering gear assembly. A loss of power steering, particularly at lower speeds increases the risk of a crash.

Often on startup, though sometimes while driving, I will get a message on the dash to "Service Power Steering", and the steering wheel will become very hard to turn. This is not something you would want to have happen mid curve while driving as it could very well cause a crash. There was a recall on my truck model for this exact problem, but my VIN# was not on the recall and GM/Chevrolet refuses to pay for it to be fixed. I took it to a Chevrolet dealership for a diagnosis and the truck was giving them a code for "steering wheel torque sensor".
