Takata recall: I am deeply concerned that there is an active recall for my truck that neither Chevrolet, or takata is concerned about. The safety of my wife and infant son could be at risk due to a known defect in the airbags, and apparently that is alright with Chevrolet and takata, because both companies are pointing the finger at each other and are not worried about the safety of their consumers! weisner Chevrolet in huntsville, tx told me this morning that they know about the recall, but cannot do anything about it. This is unacceptable! I want to be able to know that my young family and I are safe in the very expensive vehicle that I purchased from Chevrolet, and am very upset with the lack of give a [xxx] that either company is displaying about the fact that my family is currently not safe in one of their vehicles. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). My air bag light has continued to flash on and off "service air bag" since August 2015 @ 34,147 miles. Vehicle was purchased and serviced previously by kuni Chevrolet sacramento ca. They state there is no record of my vehicle, but they continue to send me mailer request service other than the outstanding recall# [xxx]: also filed a complaint with General Motors case #[xxx] where as [xxx] has stated General Motors has no known issues with air bags. I have contacted kuni Chevrolet several times requested a phone call from both service manger and general manage which continues to be ignored. I understand that this should have been resolved in a reasonable link of time. It has been going on for years and they are not taking responsibility. My question to you is what are my options? thank you [xxx]12/04/2017

Takata recall I have pursued through the Chevrolet dealerships for over a year a remedy to the airbag recall. My understanding is that they were to provide a free repair or replacement of the airbag inflators. Every time I have called to get a repair scheduled, they have either told me that the repairs are not available, or that the parts aren't currently available, and they will call me when they are. Every time I follow up on that call, they seem to not have my information. I just read something online saying that they were supposed to have a final decision from the NHTSA in August 2017 reference my vehicle and others. It is now November, I received another recall notice in the mail recently, and still the Chevrolet dealerships are not cooperating in the repair process.

Silverado 1500 Hybrid

Takata recall-received a recall letter in July 2016 stating the airbags are defective and that GM will conduct a recall if they are not able to prove to NHTSA they are safe. GM recall 49151. November 2017 received notice of takata bankruptcy proceedings. Following notice I phoned the dealer who sold me the vehicle and was given voicemail. I left a message but they did not return my call. Subsequently phoned GM to inquire into status of recall. I was told my vehicle was safe to drive and that GM was still working with NHTSA. I was told I would be notified if the airbags needed to be replaced. My complaint is that there should be a decision by now. Other manufacturers have already completed recalls and repairs. With takata filing for bankruptcy and GM not making repairs who will take responsibility for the repairs or any associated injuries/deaths?

1/08/2017- bakersfield, ca. Passenger side airbag, for my model it has been identified as defective. Received legal notice this date from tk holdings Inc, monroe wi. They are debtors, who filed chapter 11 for takata corporation. They stated take your vehicle to local dealership immediately to schedule a free repair on a defective or potentially defective airbag inflator. I've known about this issue for over a year now. General Motors, takata corporation are in a legal battle over this airbag issue. In the mean time citizens of our great country are going to be impacted by this continue delay, and cost of all parties involved to prevail in court. The federal govt. Natl. Transportation safety board needs to intervene, and stop this airbag crisis. I would classify this matter as a natl. Security & safety threat because lives will be loss. Everyone involved are not accepting responsibility for this serious dilemma, due to ongoing litigation. I very rarely allow anyone now in my truck, minor fender-bender, airbag deployment, extraction metal shrapnel. Maybe I can get our Washington DC senator of our district apply a little pressure on this matter, election time in 2018, look what happened on 10/07/17, state of Virginia, state of New Jersey, both republicans loss to democrats. This is not time for politics. Lives are and will be loss.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16V381000 (air bags); however, the part for the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. While idling at a stop light, another vehicle suddenly drove through a red light and got T-boned and pushed into the contact's vehicle. The contact's vehicle was severely damaged on the front driver's side. The air bags did not deploy. There were no injuries. A police report was filed. The other two vehicles involved in the crash were totaled. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated prior to the crash. The contact took the vehicle to an unknown independent repair shop in St. George, Utah where it was diagnosed that the rims, grill, tires, and headlight capsule needed to be replaced. The parts were replaced and the air bag sensor system was reprogrammed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 83,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
