Chrysler knows that these vehicles, completely stop running. It's a death trap. They finally bought my vehicle back, gave me absolutely nothing in return. Corporate America at it's finest. I did not have another vehicle and they would buy my vehicle back only if I purchased another Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge. The dealership put me in another vehicle. Only to find out I had to pay both payments until they paid it off. I told them I couldn't afford two payments, they said don't worry about it, it will be paid off fast.Took them 3 months to payoff my lease, in the mean time they screwed my credit up. I still haven't received my check for my down payment either!!
Tried talking to someone from Chrysler and they tell me to call the dealership. Really!?
The consumer is never protected.

My car has stalled out on multiple random times. It first happened to my boyfriend when he was driving in town, he told me about it and I assumed he maybe did something to cause the problem. The second time it has happened was when I was in the car and my boyfriend was driving it again and it stalled out again in the middle of the intersection with no traffic around (Thank God!). Since then, it has done it three times in town in 25mph speed limits zones.
Around the same time this was happening, I had received the recall letter and set up an appointment and just had to wait till that day. I notified the shop the day of my appointment and told them the problem and they assumed that the new recall fix would hopefully and maybe fix the problem. Since then, it has stalled out four times, and three of the times happened in the same day.
The first stall out was in town again and right away I called the dealership shop to schedule an appointment again and there soonest availability was about a month away so I had no control over that. It wasn't until the next day that it happened 3 times throughout the day and 2 of those times were within a 10 minute window and this time it was on the highway. I was lucky enough at the stalling times that there was little to no traffic around me in town and on the highway, where I was able to pull over to the side safely, shut the car off and turn it back on.
The dealership has the car still, they have driven it themselves for a couple days and it did not happen to them once and they cannot find an issue so they were forced to give me my car back. The problem with this is issue is that this stalling problem happens at random times and in different speed zone areas. It is very scary thought to have when driving on the road with heavy traffic, trucks, semi's, or other vehicles behind you and not knowing if your car is going to stall or not that day or very much to that minute you are driving.

I really don't feel safe driving this car anymore. I had just got off the freeway and driving the car just stops no warning. I can only think about the poor families and victims of the horrible mistake GM made. Please do something before Chrysler has this issue.

I was driving down a highway when the check engine light came on and the car stalled. I was able to get to the side of the road to safety, however wasn't able to actually turn the car off run mode. When I pressed the button to turn off it just kept trying to restart and jugging. I finally held the button and it turn off. Roadside assistance towed the vehicle and they diagnosed the problem as a coil in the ignition and changed spark plugs. Picked up car four days later to have it break down 40 minutes after I got it back with the same problem. After reading all the complaints I'm afraid to drive on a major freeway and not be able to control it if it stalled there as you are not able to put the car in neutral to control it.
Update from Aug 31, 2015: Was told that my engine harness and the wiring melted together. They've ordered parts and said it will be fixed in the next week or so.
Update from Sep 9, 2015: Received engine harness and wiring parts. Replaced parts and took it for a test drive.... parts melted again after 5 minutes of driving. Was told they were ordering new parts again and that they were also ordering a new transmission harness to replace. Received a call yesterday that car is fixed (9.08.2015) and they wanted to keep one more night for test driving. We'll see..... Supposed to receive a call today on whether car is ready to go.

Driving on highway on the way home from OKC and indicator light starts flashing and lost all rpms. Had to pull over and put in park, then was able to put back in drive. 30 minutes later, it happened again. Luckily, I was able to pull over again and put in park and then back in drive. 30 minutes later - it happened a 3rd time. This time I was near an exit - and I am very glad I was - I tried putting the car in park and then drive again and nothing worked. I had to actually turn off the car and wait about 5 minutes before I was able to restart it and drive. I finally made it home and took to dealership.
So I take the car to the dealer on Wednesday and Friday they call and say they are going to have to replace the TCM and it will be Monday before it will be ready.
I pick up the car on Tuesday evening. Drove car home, 7 miles, drove to work Wednesday morning (4 miles) then on they way back home, Wednesday night it happened again - indicator light started flashing and I lost all RPMs again. I was lucky again, that I was close to a side street and was able to coast in, put the car in park and then drive again and make it home. Taking it back to dealer tomorrow.
Took vehicle back to dealer on Thursday, 7/2, and they had the car until Tuesday, 7/7 - and couldn't replicate the issue or find anything wrong!!!!!! On the way to dealer on 7/2, the car completely shut down and wouldn't turn off - the engine was off, but all accessories were still on. Had to call roadside assistance to get a tow.
Went to pick up vehicle on 7/8, and was told again that they couldn't replicate the issue or find anything wrong - was backing out of parking place, when vehicle started doing the SAME thing!!!! Indicator light started flashing and lost all RPMs, with flashing messages again about check transmission, check parking brake, check engine. Dealership is of no use - was basically told - well you can leave the car, but it'll probably be Friday before we can get around to looking at it again.
Have had NO vehicle for almost a month now - car is still in shop and they REFUSE to give me a loaner vehicle. I have almost decided that I am not going to pay anymore payments on the car until they get it fixed. Really, why should I have to pay for a vehicle that is sitting at the dealership. And Chrysler has been NO help, either. At least if I skip a payment maybe someone will return my call!!! Seriously considering contacting a lawyer about the lemon law - 3 trips to the shop, no ideas on what is wrong or how to fix and not even 2300 miles. I'm done.

The first the engine stalled/shut off, we were driving about 50 miles per hour. Very scary feeling, because we didn't know what was wrong. It did not want to start it was like if the engine was choked. After 2 or 3 hours it finally came on again. We didn't drive about 2 miles when it stalled again, this time in the middle of a one line narrow bridge, DPS had to assist us in getting our car off the bridge, as it is a very busy bridge. Took it to my dealer told me they didn't have a service department and to take it to another local dealer they are associated with. Took it there and was told they could not look at it because they were busy, but that I could leave it or take it back in the morning.

A new car with 133 miles with this problem? Chrysler 200 is garbage. Chrysler is the same as before, lemon cars.
- Edilberto G., zion, IL, US
I was driving approximately 40 mph on a busy highway, Jefferson Avenue, in Newport News, VA. My Chrysler 200 C just stopped in traffic and would not restart. The policeman found the manual release for the gear shift and pushed me in a parking lot. I called Chrysler assist and they towed the car. This was a very dangerous incident and could have resulted in a serious injury or worse. Chrysler provided me a rental car, another 200C. I am afraid to drive it. I took my vehicle in twice because the check engine light kept coming on. The first time I was told that the washer fluid was low and the second time that it needed a software update. I waited a long time to buy a new car and decided to try American. I feel I have made a huge mistake.

You always buy a new car so your family is safe and have no problems, but when your car stalls in the middle of the road, with a electronic transmission and car will not respond to starting push button, and stuck in gear, you just go into a panic mode waiting for somebody to rear end you with kids in car. Now that I have read all the complains about this issue I don't think I will be able to drive this car without thinking that it could be my last drive, big accident ready to happen.
Update from Aug 21, 2015: Hey fca offer me 1500.00dlls to keep it quiet if I accepted the money they said l will not sue them or the dealer or even claim car as a lemon, good deal huh, for them of course, so they know there is a problem, just like I told them , how many death people is going to take for u to take action

I purchased my 2015 Chrysler 200 in November of 2014 brand new. After about 8,000 miles the car started stalling out and the engine would just completely shut off. I would have to let the car sit wherever it stopped (middle of intersection) because when the engine is not running you cannot put the car in neutral.
After letting it sit for about 20 min it would finally start back up. This happened to me on numerous occasions. One day in April of 2015 it stopped in the middle of a busy intersection and almost caused a collision. That's when I called emergency roadside assistance. They said it would take an hour to get there (way too long) so I decided to keep trying to start the car until it started.
The very next day I drove it to the dealer 7miles away and it cut off twice on the way there. When I pulled into the dealership service center it shut off again right in front of the service tech. They said it would take a few days to look at and diagnose and they will call me. I demanded they provide me a rental car, which they didn't want to do at first but they did.
After a few days I got a call from the dealer saying they had to replace the ECM and reprogram the car and that it would be ready within a week, if everything went smoothly. Of course things didn't go smoothly because I didn't end up getting my vehicle back until 3 weeks later.
When I got the car back it drove like normal for the next two weeks. One day in June 2015 I left the car running with the A.C on and it shut off as soon as I took it out of park. I believe they sold me a lemon, that's why they make them so easy to qualify for. I stopped driving with my children in the car and on the fwy because I was afraid it would stall out in the middle of the freeway and get us all killed.
Today Aug 13 2015 I drove the car on the freeway and as I was exiting on a downward sloped off ramp the engine shut off!!! The power steering went stiff, and I tried my best to get to the far side of the road. As I tried to gain control of the stalled vehicle I was hit by an oncoming speeding bus!!! Me and my passenger sustained serious back neck and head injuries. Thank God we are still breathing.
I had roadside assistance deliver the car to the nearest Dodge dealer. The dealer said to take it to a body shop because they don't do bodywork. I told them the cause of the accident was because the vehicle malfunctioned. They immediately went into defense mode and told me to call corporate and report what happened because they didn't want to be held liable for anything. The service manager immediately came out and took pictures of the vehicle and damages.
I called Chrysler and they told me to leave the car right where it was and they will have someone come look at the vehicle within two days and they would get back to me. Meanwhile I'm stuck in the E.R with no car and No answers. I am going to hire an attorney and file a suit against Chrysler ASAP!!!

On 285 in Atlanta during rush hour traffic doing 60 mph car completely stalled. Messages were running across the panel with different comments, car speed decreased rapidly tried to cross three lanes of traffic to get out of traffic but the car stalled. The car automatically went into the park position (the knob turned by itself to park) The car would not turn off, I mashed the off button but the engine kept running and would not get out of the park position. Almost got rear ended three times, police was called to help me out of traffic. could have been killed. Had to find panel to shut down car to get it to go into neutral to move the car. Car was taken to nearest Chrysler dealership and it has been there for two days with no word on what is wrong with the car. Shutting don for no reason is deadly and this car has done this.

This is the second time with the same issue. The vehicle it stalls then it turns off and it won't turn back on again. After an hour or so then it will turn back on.
Update from Jul 29, 2015: It happen again after being in a dealership for a while this time I was going at high speed and it turned off completely almost causing serious accident. The engine turns off and won't start again. It had to be towed back to the dealership Bert Ogden in Harlingen Texas. This is the fourth time with the same issue.....

The car stalled while driving down a highway with my children. When it stalls, it will not restart. It just makes weird noises and won't start. After I let it sit for about 10 minutes it would restart again, but then stall out again. Got it towed to the shop. They called me next day and stated car was fixed and ready to go. Picked it up and drove it one day; stalled again while driving down the road. Had it towed to another authorized service location. They called me the next day, stated they corrected the recalled issues with car and ran their 23 point inspection and all was good. The same day, again while driving down highway, car stalls again.
This car is a death trap. I will not let my children get in it any more. This is unacceptable and a shame Chrysler is allowing this to continue.

I was driving 70 mph on I-64 in VA, there was a little bit of an incline after leaving the tunnel and crossing the bridge, every time I tried to accelerate the car felt as if I was slamming on the brakes. It started to do it constantly and eventually the car starting flashing all sorts of error messages and completely locking up.
I was in the passing lane and had to swerve onto the grass to avoid being rear ended. Unfortunately the butt of the vehicle was still partly in traffic and I had to wait until the car decided to restart to pull the rest of the way off of the road. I waited some more time to try and drive it again, at least to the right shoulder. When I started it again I was able to get to the right before it started locking up again. At this point when I tried to turn the car off, it would just shake and stay in Run, several times it did this and wouldn't let me shut the car off. After about 10 minutes I was able to shut it off and wait for towing to come.
The car is currently at the Chrysler dealership for repair. I hope Chrysler is able to resolve the issue because I am terrified to drive a vehicle that chooses to shut off whenever it wants to!

Anyone with this problem should report it to safercar.gov.
This is very serious as the car stalls when driving.

My wife was driving to work and the dashboard flashed "D" and she lost power. Luckily she was able to pull off the road. After putting it in park she was able to start it and continue. The problem hasn't happened since but I was in for a oil change yesterday and told the service manager about it. He acted like he never heard of this problem before. He checked for service codes and found two. One said something about lost satellite signal, and the other was a code he wasn't able to determine. Said I would have to bring it back in for service to take a more detailed look at it. After seeing all the posts with very similar symptoms and no known remedy I'm wondering what good taking it in will do. But I will and see what happens.
Update from Jul 1, 2015: It happened again before I could get it into service. This time I was driving. The dash displayed a message that said service transmission The "D" flashed on the dash, all the shift selector lights flashed in unison (ie. transmission options D, R, P S) all the while the engine continued to run but it had shifted into neutral. I could not accelerate and was basically coasting. I was able to coast to a safe place to pull over and put it in park. Once I put it into park everything went back to normal and I was able to drive away.
Took it in for servicing. Dealership had it for 4 days. As noted on my invoice, the cause was noted at U11C2 in the PCM & U0101 in several modules, 181906CM Module, Powertrain Module (PCM). Reprogrammed Module, Powertrain Control (PCM). Performed valvebody solenoid learn and quick learn procedures.
It has only been a few days since service, but so far so good.
Update from Jul 17, 2015: On July 13 wife was driving when check engine light came on. Mileage is now 4457. She drove directly to the dealership and they found a code related to the ESM (electronic shifting module). They had the car from Monday afternoon to Friday afternoon and was unable to replicate the problem. Why try to replicate a problem when it was already in problem mode when it was dropped off? Wanted to keep the car a few more days. I said no. This is what the work order stated: A 21t automatic transmission concern CK Trans Going to Limp mode while driving. 85412104 Transmission, trouble not found - no repair
We have the car in twice now with transmission related problems. They have had the car for a total of 9 days. Very frustrated at this point and expect round 3 is just around the corner.
Will be researching lemon laws in coming days.
Update from Aug 3, 2015: Round 3 on 7/21/2015 Mileage 4715 It happened again, this time in traffic going about 40 mph. Was able to coast into a parking lot. Took video of what was happening. Cause was diagnosed as internal failure flash module. Replaced Module, transmission control. Also reprogramed module, powertrain control (PCM). Car returned to us on 7/24/2015.
On 8/1/2015 mileage at 5275 is happened for the 5th time. This time on narrow road with many curves and hills. Going about 35 mph. Had to stop in traffice, shift to park and back to drive before being able to move forward. Took car to Chrysler this moring (8/3/2015). This will be dealships 4th attempt at fixing it. Will post diagnosis and fix in next post.
Update from Sep 8, 2015: Got car back on 8/7/2015. Mileage now at 5468. Dealer could not duplicate problem and returned car. Service manager called me the next day and told me about another car with the same problem and they found some loose pins and think they got that one fixed by repairing the pins. As luck would have it, my car failed again for the 6th time a couple of days later. Took it back in on 8/11/2015 for repair attempt number 5. Service report states: No codes loose terminals in PDC number 15 18, 0894ATM2 checked and found terminals #15 and #18 loose in PDC connector 4 tighten loose terminals as per star cases 278 W40. Now a month later on 9/8/2015 and added another 1000 miles or so on the car and haven't had any recurrence of the problem.. Interesting I told service manager on my first service attempt, that I saw a similar case on the internet and loose pins where found to be the problem. He told me you can't believe what you see on the internet.

New car 11K miles driving and it shuts off. Won't restart. Pain in the ass to get into neutral had to dig in the book and then dig the plastic panel up to get to the release. Friend of mine also has one newer than mine the S edition and his shock mount was looks from the factory! quality has gone way down hill with Chrysler. While I was at the dealership a 2015 Charger was brought in on a tow truck the engine was shutting off while driving on it as well.
Update from May 21, 2015: I received it back and they are saying there was some pins pushed out or not properly seated in the ECU or SCM harness. So far it works and hasnt shut off since. The also ended up reprogramming the TCM and another part in the transmission control.
- James H., South Point, OH, US
This was the third time it was towed to the dealerships. They called Chrysler Tech Line and were told to check all the electrical connections for tightness. Now if we can get the stumble out of the transmission, I will be happier. I am still leery of this car.
Update from Aug 17, 2015: No engine stalling since the 3rd visit for the problem. Chrysler has acknowledged the problem and issued a recall for 85,000 vehicles.

Brought this brand new car about 2 weeks ago and this weekend we were at a three way stop. I started to pull out and the throttle went dead, the car was still running this put us right into the oncoming car with no way to get out of the way. I kept feather the throttle an finally it came back and we progressed on.We talked about the issue on the way home and thought it may have been due to the air conditioning being on.
The next morning I received a panic call from my wife stating that she could not get out of our complex as the car was lurching and stalling and the shut engine light was on and so was the check engine light. So she called the dealer and they stated they were sending a tow truck. Upon getting to the dealer the lights were off and they could not duplicate the issue. They stated that they looked at it and could not find anything, I insisted that the throttle went dead while pulling out on to the street so they kept it for one more day.
The next morning I received a call from the dealer stating that they told to QC to take it out one more time, needless to say that as it was stated to me by the dealer it did not make it out of there lot as it did all of the issues all at once stated above. So I have not seen it as of going on 4 days and to be honest after seeing all the current issues with other newer model some of the same things. I am going to scared to drive it without thinking to my self how reliable is this vehicle going forward.
Update from May 2, 2015: Well received the car back from the dealer after 4 days of trying to figure out what was wrong. I was told it was the mass oxygen flow sensor. Took it out on a small drive on Friday and every thing seemed pretty good except for when it shifted down it seemed to pick up speed. Went out this morning and guess what would not run and all the engine lights back on including the shut down once again. This time the dash reads Service the Throttle control, funning I told the dealer it had not throttle the first time. So back to the dealer on a Saturday, darn car spending more time at the dealer then in the my garage. Ran the codes and still can not figure out what is wrong, they called Chrysler to see and where told to change out the whole computer system. Great considering the dealer has put more miles on it testing it, then we have driving it. This should not be what new cars are for.

This is the letter I sent to Chrysler!
Dear Chrysler,
In January of this year, I allowed myself to go out of my comfort zone, and purchase my first BRAND NEW car ever. I chose a 2015 Chrysler 200. I even named her Juliet.
I have 16,000 miles on my car. I received a recall notice in the mail, and scheduled it to go in to the dealership this morning. Then Tuesday on my way to work, my car started shifting with loud clunks and jerks. As I was driving 62mph down the interstate, my car suddenly lost all power, and began flashing the check engine light and battery light, and told me to place the car in park. I was able to ease over a lane and then over to the shoulder thankfully. I called a tow truck, and called the dealership to let them know that it was being towed in immediately. Then I did some investigating. You see the week before while in the post office parking lot, this same thing had occurred-and I had thought that somehow I hadn’t let the car fully engage into Reverse prior to driving.
Let me tell you for a moment how terrified I was on I5 losing all power in my vehicle. I was in a very serious (I was not at fault) accident 10 years ago that left me disabled. I have had 9 related surgeries. So I was whimpering in terror while trying to get off of I5 while my car quickly went down in speed. So I started researching 2015 Chrysler 200’s. To my shock, I discovered page upon page of complaints regarding the EXACT same issue I was having. All starting between 4000 -20,000 miles. You can go to this website to view them: http://www.carcomplaints.com/Chrysler/200/2015/ A couple people even ended up in accidents from the loss of power. So when the dealership called me to tell me that my car was ready the next afternoon, I was quite leery. Upon reading my paperwork and speaking to my ‘advisor’ at Chrysler, I find out that you are completely aware of this issue, and have given dealerships a directive of “tightening the number 15 and 18 pins†and that you will be issuing a recall on them, but you don’t currently have the parts and the capabilities to do that. It states quite plainly on the paperwork that the dealership is then instructed to send the car home with the customer. So you are sending your customers on the road in what could be a death trap. My husband has to drive 6 hours away tomorrow, and again the next Friday. He will be driving a car, that COULD LOSE POWER AT ANY MOMENT! I am on the lemon law for Washington, the next time it happens, as it’s very dangerous, I will be taking you to court. Let me tell you, that if something happens to my husband and family in the meantime……you will not even know what storm hits you. This is unacceptable. These cars should NOT be on the road until they are fixed at 100%. On that website, there are people that had the pins tightened just like mine, and have had it happen over and over. I hope you people can sleep well at night!
