7-17-2017 was a day from hell, my Chrysler 2015 shut off on myself and husband about five times while driving in traffic. I was on the phone with Chrysler customer service rep by the name of Chris, this individual was no help at all and acted like he did not have a care in the world. I was explaining to him that the vehicle has been shutting off in the middle of traffic last week about ten times and the dealership was refusing to help myself and my husband. Please know, I was speaking to a supervisor at a Chrysler Dodge and Ram dealership, listen this company wanted to complete a oil change and rotate my tires but wanted me to make a another appointment for an update, I could not believe it. The vehicle was completed on 7-17-17 for the oil change and so far the vehicle has not been shutting off not saying the issue is resolved, but Chrysler is getting all these complaints why are they sitting around doing nothing? I guess they are waiting on a death to occur then get sued.. Really Chrysler you need to recall call these 200's and make things right with your customers. I am very disappointed in the Highland, In office and the office located in Lansing, IL both Chrysler Dodge Ram companies are only looking for not the well being of their customers... Chrysler just doesn't give a damn. I guess it's a money thing, sad company.

Over the past few days my car has been completely going dead in traffic without any warning, which has cased me to almost have a car accident on all occasions. I got on this site and started reviewing the complaints on this site and realized I am not the only person having these issues. I also found I had a recall on this issue. I took it into the service department and informed him of the issue and the need to fix the recall issue and was advised this should fix my issue. Well I dropped my car off and it took seven hours, yes I said 7. I was ok as long as it was fixed... Well, As I was leaving the dealership, it went dead 3 times in 10 minutes, while in traffic. No lights appeared on the information system. Once able to get it started again I took it back to the dealership.. I am currently waiting to see what is the status. It doesn't have 60000 miles on it..

Since April 1, 2017, 2 weeks after I purchased this damn Chrysler 200 limited v6 I have nothing but problems. Not only did the Dealership not disclose that all 4 brake pads and calipers were pretty bad but that the engine stalls and shuts off while driving, I ended up spending $500 on the brakes and calipers and I haven't made my first car payment. Chrysler with this car you guys suck!!! Now I am stuck with this problem for 72 months!!! Way to rip off your customers...I will never buy an American car again!!!

I just bought the damn car on 3/18/2017 from First National Fleet in Seattle. Drove it for a few weeks and while going downhill the car suddenly stalled while I was driving, I have to put the car in park and try to restart and it takes about 3 tries to get it started. It's embarrassing because I have new car tag on it, because the license plate haven't arrived yet. This is pathetic because I bought the car for a little over $16,000.

I got this car July 23 2016 and I have already had the whole front end replaced, after a month.. Now Sep 27, 2016 my engine shut off while driving, I got it back running.. I was driving 25 miles an hr to the dealership in Fort Worth TX. My engine light was on.. I turned it in to the Dodge dealership left it til I got off work was told they had to reboot the powertrain.. Now here it is the next day, My car shut off while driving again this morning, on my way to work...All I know is I have a 6 month old grand baby, I will be damned if I get us killed because they can't make a car without these types of problems...Still working on getting an attorney if they don't get another car for me..

I will never buy a chrysler of any kind again. As if the car not working is not bad enough. I cant get a loaner car when the one that i bought i broke down from no wrong doing of mine. Wow and the dealership could care less. I was a loyal customer till now. I will be trading my car as soon as it comes back and you will never see another dime from me or my family as long as i have a say so.

I bought this car in August, had a newborn baby September 8th, every time this vehicle shut off it was in the middle of the road and I lost even my power steering. I bought it to feel "safe" and to be "reliable", this car is FAR from either of those. Now I am asking that they just give me what I have invested and let me go away and they can take the car and sell it to someone else and still make their money. It is just horrible because every time I drive this vehicle now, with or without my daughter, it's in the back of my head that it will shut off. I feel VERY unsafe.
Does anybody know what I can do?

It is a lease car and Chrysler refused to work with us. We had to leave the car in a different state for a month to get it fixed because no part were available. The engine stopped running 7 different time between Florida and Ohio on the expressway.. We were give a rental from Enterprise from Chrysler. We returned home and when the car was repaired 23 days later they call to have us come and get it. We told them we could not and have it shipped. We were told they could not do that because of liability reasons. We could not get off work to drive to another state so we told them we did not want the car it was unsafe. We were sent to the National Dispute Settlement Center for arbitration. They sided with Chrysler and we were told we were to pay for more then half the rental at a cost of $2000. We were never contacted by Chrysler or Enterprise to return the car until December 16 and we returned the car the next day. We were then told we had to pay. We also had to take the car to another dealership because the transmission was jerking after we got it back. Sterling Height Dodge did nothing to help. We have been a loyal Chrysler family for over 40 years and they treated us like dirt. The car still is not right but there is nothing they or will do. Now Fait comes on TV and says that the 200 and Dart were not tested enough and should not have been released. So what does every one do that has one?

This car is a piece of CRAP!!! Don't buy one ever! My daughter just bought this stupid car in June. Within the first 2 weeks, it was in the shop for the engine dying while driving - it took almost 3 weeks to fix. Then had to take it in for a recall - another few days. Now, the damn engine died and the brakes failed, causing my daughter to run into the car in front of her. Chrysler should be sued and have to pay for every one of these pieces of crap. NEVER BUY A CHRYLSER!!

I was starting to work about 20 miles out and started loosing RPMs the engine light came on. I was able to get off the road. After a hour the car started and we drove it to dealership where they put in new codes and told me it was fixed. I drove back to town and the same thing happened again, this time the car was towed to dealership. They gave me a car to drive but did not know what the problem was or how long it would take to fix. I am so grateful I was not driving down the mountain because I could have gotten killed because I could steer the car . After reading the complaints I don't know if I want the car back.

7/2/2015 I had just pulled out from a stop sign. Starting blinking service transmission, put car in park and shut off engine. Then, the car shut off on me. I was on a back road so, I didn't even have enough momentum to make it out of the road and to the grass. All gears locked up and stayed lit red while car continued to tell me put car in park which I couldn't do along w/service transmission and service park break. It was towed to Bluebonnet Chrysler Dodge where it stayed for 18 days. They stated they replaced the TCM? Fast forward exactly 21 days and the exact same thing happened again only I was still in my garage when it shut off and everything locked up and starting blinking all the same messages. Today 8/21.....the vehicle is still @ Bluebonnet Chrysler Dodge, 10 days after the second tow and they tell me the car is reading all different codes and they don't know what they mean soo... we are at a stand still. DO NOT BUY THIS CAR
Update from Oct 10, 2015: Picked up car 8/22. Stated is was a bad battery terminal. Took 11 additional for Bluebonnet Chrysler to tell me the battery wasn't connected correctly and they supposedly had to speak with Chrysler to figure this out. The dealer asked ME if I WAS HAVING THE CAR TOWED HOME! So, basically I am picking the car up from being fixed and you aren't even sure it is driveable for me! That's ok, I was going straight from Bluebonnet Chrysler to San Antonio Dodge to trade it in for a 2015 Dodge Charger I had purchased the night before. And, what do you know, the 20 mile highway drive and it started shifting hard and acting like it wanted to shut off. I made it to the dealer and didn't give it a second thought about trading it in.

I traded in my 2012 Dodge Journey (which I bought brand new by the way) because it was having electrical issues on 2/20/15. When I purchased the 2015 Chrysler 200 with only 6 miles I fell in love with it but that was short lived. I started to have problems accelerating and I couldn't merge into traffic properly. I tried not to make a big deal about it but my car continued to be an issue. the worse part of the problem was my car started dying out in the middle of traffic with no warning while my children were in the car.
With only 8,788 I finally broke down and took my car to the dealership because I couldn't take it anymore. My car would constantly shut off and the shifter would blink and the dashboard said to put the car in park to restart it. The trunk also kept opening on its own while I was driving.
My car was in the shop from 6/18/15 until 6/27/15 and the dealership initially stated that they didn't know what was wrong with car but it had been reset. I had to to had to return my car back to the dealership on 6/29/15 and they kept it until 7/7/15 at which time they stated they replaced the shifter but that still didn't fix the problem. My car continued to die and the shifter would blink and the battery and oil light would come on. The oil life even reset itself.
I had to take it back to another dealership on 9/21/15 and kept it until 10/1/15 they stated they replaced the PDC because my key fob couldn't be detected while driving and the car continued to lose power and die in the middle of driving with no warning. The day I picked my car up I didn't even get around the corner before it died on my 3 times and I had to return it back to the dealership. that's where it sits today.
I was contacted by the dealership and informed that a harness has to be replaced and it should fix my problems. I just want Chrysler to buy their death trap back because there have several times where I could have been hit by another vehicle. This car is more like a used lemon than a brand new car. I haven't been able to enjoy my car yet, I've spent more time in rentals than my own car and they are giving me a hard time about it I would never buy another Chrysler EVER!

This vehicle has had so many issues that it is worse than a used car. My first issue was so bad that I had to leave it at the dealer for 30 days until they figured out what was wrong. Every few months is a new different problem, suspension, electrical, Computer software.. Just last month I received the computer software recall update letter once it was updated my navigation did not work for 3 weeks.
Now this week a new recall letter came in the mail in which it states
""Either of these conditions may cause a crash without warning.""
I will never buy a Chrysler again...

My car was already service for this problem on 8/11/2015 they kept it till 8/14/2015 they said they replaced the TCM (transmission control module) and did a solenoid relearning process. Well today 8/16/2015 at 7:10 pm the car did the same thing. I called at tow truck and Chrysler corp and took pictures. Always take pictures!
conclusion: We will see.

This is the 4th time bringing my car to the Pine Belt dealership in route 88 in NJ. They say it was the PCV in the car. Bringing in the car on Friday 10/2/2015. If this car continues giving me problems, I will apply for the lemon law or take them to court.

Many on going problems. I'm working with resolution team. Only real solution for me is to have company buy back car at full price and keep this car off of the road

The Chrysler 200 is a death trap waiting to happen, and Chrysler has known about it since, at least, 2011! It has a stalling issue, and can stall anytime and anywhere.
On 9-11-15, less than a month after the car was purchased, my wife was driving it and it stalled 3 times within a 15 minute span on side streets. She thought, perhaps, the reason was because the gas tank was less than 1/4 full, so she pulled into a gas station to fill it up. After doing so, she attempted to leave and the car stalled with about 1/3 of it sticking out into the lane of a 2 lane highway.
At that precise moment, there was a semi truck coming from the north traveling at 45 to 50 mph directly towards the car. My wife was terrified and in that split second froze as she sat in it watching the truck speeding towards her. Only by the grace of God there were no cars coming from the south, or the truck would not have been able to swerve around the car. Had this not been the case, there would have been a catastrophic collision resulting in my wife getting severely injured--if not killed!
Immediately after this incident, the car was taken to Key Chrysler in Xenia, Ohio, where it was purchased. My wife explained what happened and was met with disbelief. Fortunately, the car stalled again just as she drove onto the lot, so the service people had to push it into the shop, and couldn't possibly doubt that there definitely was a problem with it.
In 5 days, it was supposedly repaired. Two days later it stalled again and was taken back to the dealership. It supposedly was repaired again and then driven about 150 miles over the course of 6 days. It did not stall during that time period, so the service manager concluded there was nothing wrong with it.
I don't believe there is any way to test drive it and replicate the issue. It was driven almost 1,100 miles before it stalled the first time, so test driving it is just an exercise in futility, and a waste of gas. The cause could very well be attributed to a degradation of whatever is the source of the problem to a point when a stall occurs, which could take time to be manifested again.
I have since spoken to the GM at Key. He said he knew nothing about this issue, and no cars have been brought to the dealership because of it.
I find both statements extremely difficult to believe, especially the one about him having no knowledge of the issue. It's all over the internet and the subject of a multitude of complaints on carcomplaints.com. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration even published a recall notice for this vehicle on 7-28-15. There were almost 87,000 recalled and there could easily be significantly more of them are on the roads of America being driven by people who have no idea that this life threatening problem could be lurking in their cars!
We want to return the car and have the contract canceled. It was supposed to be a gift for our daughter who is a college senior, but it has turned into a nightmare. She, as well as my wife and I, are fearful of driving it because we have no idea if, and when, it will stall again. Our daughter has a bright future ahead of her as a nurse practitioner, and we most certainly aren't going to put her life in jeopardy by having her drive a car that could, quite possibly, be the cause of her death!

This is my second Chrysler 200 in just under a year. Chrysler replaced the first one when they could diagnose an engine problem in 3+ months. I was driving down I-40 in NC and the engine just started to stutter and then die. I was fortunate to me able to get off the road and get it into Park. Tow truck came and we couldn't get it into neutral to load on wrecker. Had to drag it up on skids. About that time someone from my dealer [KY] called and told me how to override the electronic transmission so we could roll it off the wrecker. After we got it to the dealer in 2+ hours it started fine.
Dealer said the stored error codes suggested loose wires and/or harness[es], We had to drive home nearly 500 miles through the mountains. Brand new car, not safe or reliable.

This is the second incident for the same problem. While driving down a parking lane at a food store, the engine shut off and would not restart. This is the second time within 24 hours this has happened even after taken to the dealer and everything was checked out, updates done and car was given back to me as fixed. This time the car had to be towed in to the same dealer and after being there 3 days they still don't know what the problem is. Got a call today and was told they are consulting Chrysler for help.

It started innocently enough. For a couple weeks, when I was turning a corner and going up hill, the car's bell would occasionally sound and the dash readout would say "Press OK for KMH." Then, one morning on my way to work, as I was turning left and heading up a steep hill (I live in the City of Hills), my engine stopped entirely. After a brief moment of panic, I was able to restart the car. The next day, the exact same thing happened (twice!). I tried to get an appointment after the first incident at my local Chrysler dealership (where I had tried the week before to purchase a new car to replace my husband's Jeep but was met with such ineptitude I resolved that I would seek out different brands after being a loyal Chrysler/Jeep customer in my home state for at least a decade -- leasing new vehicles, on average, every 18 months). The dealership was unable to get me in for two weeks, even though my car has a serious fault that could be deadly. I called Chrysler to see what my options were and received no satisfaction. I was told I could take it elsewhere but they couldn't tell me until after I had the work done whether I could be reimbursed or not. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told I would get a call back in one business day and if I hadn't heard from someone by Tuesday at 8pm I should call back. I was given a case number for follow-up. No call came in and on Wednesday morning I called again using my case number and was told no request was put in for a supervisor to call me and that if they did, I would receive the exact same answer. So, I have a car I can't safely use and Chrysler will do nothing about it. When this lease is up, I will not lease another Chrysler.
Update from Jul 28, 2017: After a two-week wait (with my car tucked in my garage for safety) I was finally able to get into a dealer for repairs. The dealership ordered and replaced the steering angle sensor. Upon return, when I was driving down the same hill on which I encountered the previous problems while driving up it, the car went absolutely berserk. It felt like the car shifted down and I could not accelerate above 24 MPH. The dash flashed a warning about the variable transmission not being available at this time and then lit the engine light, the traction control light, and a big red lightning bolt. After stopping and restarting the car, the engine light remained on and the odometer continuously flashed. I returned it for repair and was told the software hadn't completely updated the day before and that it has now been properly updated. We will see . . .
