After fueling, especially if the take is full. The engine will die several times in the first 5 or more miles driven. Of course, this also means no power steering. You may be turning at an intersection, on a freeway or just traveling on a surface street. Still, you are without power and no power steering putting the car and occupants in danger. Usually, putting the car in neutral and starting gets you going again, at least until the next event. We have had as many a 5 such events on a 4.5 mile drive home form the gas station. This has now progressed. The last fill up, the nozzle cut of several times and restart over and over to finally fill the take. We knew it could take more fuel, Ultimately it took on 15 Gallons. This time, even after the second day and about 20 miles on the car it will still die at random, especially at idle, say at a stop light. Also with this phenomenon, when the gas gouge gets to just below a half of a tank reading, it may suddenly drop to (E) empty. This is not a good feeling, even though we know it is a bogus reading. The gauge may or may not read correctly at about a half tank the next time the car is started, after an overnight rest. We suspect this may relate to the saddle bag fuel tank system. Currently the check engine light is on, solid, not flashing. However, this problem after a fill up has occurred when there was no check engine light active. Our mechanic is aware of the problems and we are scheduling a visit again and will make sure he is aware of all of these issues. Safety issue, yeah, like suddenly rear-ended or t boned with loss of power and almost impossible steering without power steering. Thankfully, the emergency flashers work fine.

Several Times while driving and often when turning at a slow speed the Pacifica stalls. This is a common problem with no help from Chrysler. No codes come up and several mechanics and dealers have tried to fix the problem to no avail and at a lot of expense. In checking this problem out on the internet, many, many people have complained about this problem because it is highly dangerous and puts peoples lives at risk! Why doesn't Chrysler investigate and find the reason and provide a fix or why won't the NHTSA look into this problem. It also is known to happen to 2005 and 2006 Pacificas.

After putting in gas in the car it will die as if it is not getting gas and when filling up I have to pump slow because it acts like it is not taking the gas. Its died on several occasions while driving without any warning. In traffic goinf through a light it shut off as if it had no gas. The car then will not turn on the key turns over but sputters. Once I pump on the gas after 3 or more attempts it come on. We have replaced the fuel pump and autozone code gave P0461 fuel level sensor a as the problem. This is dangerous as the car just shutting off while driving and unable to start in traffic or just shutting down on the highway. The oil light comes on as well. Theres a noise like a ticking sound I can hear by the gas tank when I shut off the car. As soon as I left the gas station today I had it in drive about to turn on the street with traffic coming and it shut off and wouls not turn on for about 10 minutes. I was lucky I did not get hit.

"takata recall" the vehicle will only take a little fuel at a time, it will only take about 5-6 gallons per fueling stops and it wil no longer accept any fuel, there is a strong fuel odor after fueling inside of the vehicle, plus the fuel gauge shows empty right after putting fuel in the tank, let me add that this has happened at least 3 times within the last 11 years of owning the vehicle. We purchased the vehicle as a "program vehicle" in 2007 and it has been a good vehicle, I am just glad we purchased the extended warranty.we purchased this vehicle when it had 29,000 miles on it, it now has 202,000 plus miles on it.

The gas gauge drops to absolute zero and the low fuel warning comes on even though there is plenty of gas in the tank. This causes a check engine light with the code U1403. There are many owners of 2004-2007 Chrysler Pacificas that have this exact same problem. The general consensus on forums specific to this common problem is there is a gas pressure problem that causes the gauge to not read correctly. People who have taken their car to the dealer for repair report that the dealers usually say the solution is to replace both fuel pumps. Customers, however, report that this is expensive and usually does not fix the problem (check engine light stays on). Most owners say the problem stems from the poorly designed saddle tank and believe the problem is with the gas pressure. I contacted Chrysler and they were no help at all. Two separate customer service reps told me to take it to the dealer. There have been hundreds if not thousands of 2004-2007 Pacifica owners (I also found many Jeep forums with the same problem) and surely Chrysler has a record of these problems and how to fix them. Having each owner take their car to their local Chrysler dealer with no common documented fix means each owner is relying on techs that may or may not be aware of this problem and the proper way to fix it. Trial and error each time is extremely wasteful and expensive for thousands of owners. A recall would at least ensure that each service center has the correct instructions on what is exactly wrong and precisely how to fix it.

This vehicle has had one major issue with the fuel system. When the fuel gauge gets to half way, the gauge drops to E and does not want to accept gas. It acts like it's full and you can barely put any gas in. When this happens the vehicle acts like it's out of gas even when it's not causing me to run out of gas while driving down the interstate and sometimes the car won't even start when it drops below half way.also, my odometer reads gascap like there's a leak but it's a brand new gas cap. I've read days worth of information on the world wide web and this is the most common issue but noone has done anything about it. It is not fair to the consumer. I know I will never buy another Chrysler and I will warn others not to also. Not only that but my seatbelts do not work anymore, two of them anyway. My kids have to sit in the far back to buckle up. I bought this vehicle used. I've had the fuel pumps replaced, the vapor canister and vapor filter replaced, gas cap, ect. Nothing repairs the issue. I know now why the previous owner gave it up, if I didn't have to pay a down payment, I would have already let it go back.

Shortly after starting and driving the car, within a couple of minutes, the car completely stops running with no warning lights. Just dies while driving as if the ignition was just turned off. This has happened multiple times causing a significant safety hazard as the power brakes and steering immediately stop working. The car is under an extended manufacturer's bumper-to-bumper warranty so the repair should be covered as it is a clear defect. Apparently, because the car just stopped, no codes were recorded as to the nature of the problem. Hence, the dealer was unable to identify a problem. The dealer recommended that the cost of a suspected repair be made by the owner because they could not definitely define the problem as necessary to be reimbursed under the warranty. Recommended repair was done at owner's cost yet the same thing happened again. An earlier model of this car had a recall to repair a similar if not identical problem.

Much difficulty in filling the fuel tank, the pump handle would continuously shut off, as though the tank was full, we had to repeatedly operate the handle off and on for several minutes. The fuel gauge would never show the tank as full. It would also, during normal operation, reach half empty, then plunge to empty, sometimes illuminating the empty light!! we were told by our Chrysler service manager, on three separate occasions, that our car was repaired, it was not repaired !!!! $1500 on a new fuel tank, and hundreds on rental cars later, our car is still not fixed!!! never again!!!!

Purchased the Pacifica touring AWD in September/October, 2013. It was in fabulous condition. A couple of months later, I experienced my first of eight occurrences wherein the vehicle shut off without warning. Once the engine shut off, power brakes and power steering didn't function properly, likely because the engine was no longer running. Five of these eight occurrences have been within one mile of my residence. Additionally, it occurred once in a parking lot, once in an intersection, and once as I was getting onto an interstate highway. A few of the occurrences almost resulted in accidents. I was at the mercy of the other drivers in those cases. I have six grandchildren. I'm hesitant to take them on trips because I have no confidence in my Pacifica's safety and reliability. My vehicle safety complaint seems eerily similar to numerous other owner's 2007 Pacifica safety complaints. I pray Chrysler will investigate this issue to determine what is causing the engine failure before a precious life is lost. Chrysler, please identify the cause and notify the owners of the fix soonest. It makes no sense to continue neglecting these safety claims. I'm certain $$$ is causing your hesitation to investigate; however, it will seem like pennies compared with the cost you will undoubtedly pay due to negligence in the event of injury or fatality. Thanks in advance for hearing my concern, diagnosing the problem, identifying the solution, and quickly implementing your plan to repair the affected vehicles. Safety has a price, but human life is priceless.

When I started the car, the check engine light came on and the word 'gascap' appeared in place of the car's mileage. I read the owner's manual and followed directions to reset the message after tightening gas cap. It had no effect. I went to autozone and had them run a free diagnostic scan which returned the diagnosis of: Evaporative emission system leak. I installed a new gas cap and followed directions to reset message. The check engine light and 'gascap' message remain.
