Pacifica

  • 30,000 miles
While traveling at low speeds, especially when making turns/ coming out of parking lots, our Chrysler Pacifica will stall. It does a hard shift and jolts forward, as if a gear has slipped or we have been rear-ended. The first time we took it in for this issue was in September of 2017 when the car had about 32,000 miles. Numerous 'software updates' have been done and a valve throttle body was put on in June 2018 to try and resolve the issue after many former attempts. It worked for a couple months, but now we are experiencing the stall/ hard shift again. Chrysler's customer care has blantantly denied me the opportunity to speak to supervisors and points the finger at the dealership, while they point fingers ar Chrysler. The car is 2 years old and doesn't give me any hope of ever really being fixed. We have been meticulous about maintenance and have only taken it to certified Chrysler dealerships. Our first family car purchased together has been an experience we don't want others to go through. Chrysler is not taking responsibility for producing unsafe vehicles.

The transmission slips out of gear between 1st and second gear momentarily before slamming back into 2nd gear. This is an ongoing issue. We have taken the vehicle into dealership multiple times and each time have been told that they can not recreate the problem or that the transmission is fine. The momentary loss of momentum is incredibly dangerous when turning into active traffic lanes. A cursory search of the internet will show that this problem is rampant and that Chrysler continues to fail to address the issue.

Hard shifting - going from 2nd to 3rd gear the van feels like it wants stall out and then all of a sudden a hard jerk(feels like you were hit from behind) then a loud knock and it drops into gear and takes off. Most often happens when in stop and go traffic. Sometime happens when just taking off from a red light. I have brought the van into the dealership over 8 times in the past 12 months, we have been able to duplicate the problem with the mechanic and Chrysler care first tells me it is the adaptive transmission control trying to adapt to my driving habit so its the way I drive, then they tell me that is the way the van was designed to operate since we able to duplicate the problem in the same van but a brand new model that was on the lot. Then they tell me there is nothing else they can do.

In Sept. 2018 I took my Pacifica in for cruise control recall and check engine light. Recall and check engine light repair completed. Next day check engine light came on again and has been on and off for the past few weeks. It seems to stay on about 4 days and then off for a day or two. Cruise control (in motion) goes out sporadically. Power window- drivers window- auto up does not work. Window(parked and moving) goes up half way, stops and goes back down. Transmission-not consistent issue but lurching @ 10-15mph also at 30mph

Driving at 70 mph, my Pacifica just shut off. Had no control, had nothing. Managed to pull over to the side of the road. When called into the beaver county Chrysler dealership I was told, "we just sell them, we don't make them." His vehicle has been one issue after another. The sliding doors not closing, the dvd player not working, the radio not working, the sliding door on driver's side still not working and they had to completely replace the gas tank because I couldn't even put gas in the tank it would shut off and wouldn't let gas get into the tank. Now this. We were scared for our lives and then told, "we just sell them we don't build them." This is not a safe vehicle.... consumer stated problem was solved. Updated 12/19/18

Wife and children in the van in August 2017 driving at around 55mph on highway. Message center told her to place vehicle in park before starting. Vehicle lost all power while in motion and she coasted to side of road. Would not start, towed to dealer dealer drove for 10 days before faulted on them. Chrysler repaired a "faulty egr." August 2018, message told her that auto on/off needed service. Vehicle lost all power at 30mph on residential street. Took to dealer, they replace a battery for auto off/on. September 2018, while pulling into garage van put up message telling her to place vehicle in park before starting. All power lost and vehicle died. Van has been at dealer for 29 days. Currently has data recorder installed, and we are in contact with Chrysler enhanced customer service to figure out the problem updated 11/29/18

When accelerating (in motion) the vehicle randomly stalls or hesitates with an abrupt jolt and loud thudding sound. Feels and sounds as if vehicle is being hit in the rear by another vehicle. Dealer has been unable to rectify or diagnose any "problem." Problem occurs almost daily in a random manner.

The van will hesitate with the foot pushing the gas in between 10-20mph and all of the sudden will jump forward with a loud clunking sound when going to the next gear. It feels like you get rear ended. This happens at random. The dealer said they have never heard of this issue and did a software update and sent us on our way. Within a few hours after leaving the dealer, the van issue occurred again. I found the below link forum for Pacifica owners and it sounds like a lot of people are having this issue. This seemed to have started back in July 2018 after I had several recall software updates put in place. I would just like some help getting this resolved and make others aware of the issue for safety reasons. My fear is that my wife will make a turn in traffic and the van hesitate and her get T-boned.

The vehicle was in motion on a city street just driving straight. The engine shut off while driving. The display indicated to put the car in park to start the vehicle. The power steering shuts off. I was not going fast at the time and was able to stop, put it in park, press the brake, start the vehicle, and put it into drive. However, I was in traffic and almost was rear ended by another vehicle who was fortunately able to stop in time. This issue affects the brakes, engine, steering, power train and all around safety. I was lucky that I was driving and that my kids were not in the car. I was going to pick them up.

The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. While driving 30 mph, the vehicle stalled and the "shift to park check engine" warning indicator illuminated. The contact also mentioned that the vehicle lost complete power and the clock needed to be reset. The contact also mentioned that the failure recurred while at a stop light. The vehicle was able to restart. The vehicle was taken to hall Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram chesapeake (3353 western branch blvd, chesapeake, va 23321, (855) 544-8545) where the contact was informed that the system needed to be updated. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to a local auto shop where the contact was informed that the wiring harness was burnt, but it was not determined if that caused the failure. The vehicle was repaired again. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000. Updated 11/29/18*

My 2017 Chrysler Pacifica has lost power three times while driving on the roadway.the first time was in May 2018 while driving on U.S. hwy 9 (55 mph speed limit); the second time was in September 2018 on a secondary roadway and the third time was in September 2018 on a tertiary roadway. All three times the car remained on however the car would not move forward when the accelerator was depressed. I have returned the car to the dealership all three times. The first time the car remained at the dealership for 14 days. They claimed that they could not get the car to replicate the problem however they replaced a valvebody harness. The second time the car was taken to the dealership via flatbed the dealership told me they could not get the car to replicate the problem and they did no work related to the transmission. The car was taken to the dealership for the third time on September 15, 2018 and they, despite several requests, have told me that they will not be replacing the transmission. They have had the car for 17 days this time. I do not have a service invoice for this last visit as they still have the car..the car is not safe. The car should not on the road.

I have experienced repeated and worsening problems with my Pacifica shifting very roughly and multiple speeds, to the point where the car jerks and acceleration stalls. I have taken the car in multiple times to the factory dealer and they said the computer is not capturing any error codes, and they can't replicate the issue. This car has had multiple issues starting the day I bought it, and I think the car is just a lemon...would never buy another Chrysler product again! updated 10/18/18

The van seems to have trouble shifting from 1st to 2nd gear when going to a low speed, moving forward. It happens out of no where, doesn't matter on the weather, temperature. The van was in motion on a city street and a parking lot. It is my guess it's the transmission.
