When going at lower speeds as well as freeway speeds the car will lurch and roughly shift. It seems to have a difficult time shifting into gears while driving.

Pacifica 6-cyl

  • 88,000 miles
The engine, brakes, steering all seized up on takeoff. I had to turn off the car and turn it back on. It happened while trying to cross a busy road. Extremely dangerous and scary. On other trips, the gears seem to change roughly when accelerating at times and not others.

Pacifica 6-cyl

The gear shifts very hard when going at slow speeds. It is so rough that one tries to avoid it at all costs when driving, thus increasing the risk of an accident. Irrespective of the risk, it seems that the vehicle's power train is faulty and it needs to be recalled.

Since purchasing 10/1/2016 there have been at least 5 - 6 times where the vehicle cut out but did not die. This appears to me to be a defect in the transmission yet the dealer could not locate and fix this issue. There are many documented cases where the transmission was an issue with this model as well as a recall that has been completed on this vehicle. The vehicle has 61379 miles and is now being required to replace the transmission and we are just out of warranty. I feel we are lucky that there has not been an accident caused by the known transmission for this model year. On 05/15/2020 the vehicle had a P0732 error code after the transmission cut out 2 times. This is the exact same issue that has been going on since we purchased as described above. Chrysler dealer now wants to put in the same transmission '21002105 automatic trans assy, R&R ew 2017 from 06/12/16. I have a huge concern that we will end up with the same transmission that is simply unsafe in my opinion, as well as having to put in another transmission down the line. Interestingly enough this code was not still showing when I took the vehicle for an inspection to the dealer on 5/16/2020.

The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the vehicle inadvertently rolled. Additionally, there was a clicking in the steering wheel while driving. The contact stated that the vehicle was difficult to steer. The contact also stated that the vehicle jerked while changing gears. The contact stated that the accelerator went to the floorboard however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact was concerned about rust to the hood of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an auto body shop and the vehicle was provided a rust treatment however, the rust spot increased in size after the treatment. The vehicle was taken to victory Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (45 naber dr, shallotte, nc 28470, (910) 356-9867) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The mechanic sealed the steering column with lock tight sealant however, the clicking sound returned and the vehicle remained difficult to steer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The approximate failure mileage 7,000.

While pressing the gas going from 1st to 2nd gear the vehicle makes a sudden jerking motion almost stalling, transmission issues since purchased. Back passenger sliding door has not always closed successfully, since purchase, causing safety concerns. Vehicle will not start all the time without unplugging the "brain". gear shift light is not always on. Brakes have had to be replaced due to an air intake issue.

Original owner of a 17 Chrysler Pacifica. We have been exhibiting multiple hard shifts while in motion\driving in both city streets and highways, delays in accelerating from a stop in an intersection, up to a forward lunge while completing a stop at a city street light. I've brought the vehicle multiple times to Chrysler and have received the same experience many others have reported from "resetting the transmission learning module" to the most ridiculous "you don't know how to drive a 9 speed transmission". I don't understand how Chrysler refuses to acknowledge a well reported issue across multiple forums and to their dealerships.this is clearly a safety and quality issue that needs to be addressed by Chrysler.

When braking with left foot to slow down or stop... if right foot is on accelerator the car loses power (engine keeps running though) and cannot accelerate and must stop engine and restart to regain control. Relative had same problem with his 2017 Pacifica and was told that there is no fix for this problem. Chrysler hasn't been able to fix mine either. Chrysler closed my case basically saying take it in to be repaired...there is no fix. Happening when car new to present.

Hard shifting at low speeds. Loud clunking sound as if someone has run into the back of you. Have had into dealer numerous times. They've reprogrammed the computer and replace valves in transmission and no change. Always get a run around and act like they've never seen the problem even after shown many complaints on line.very alarming and dangerous.

  • 40,180 miles
Just bought this car used a few days ago with just over 40K miles on it. Occasionally after coming to a stop as I excelerate the transmission seems to miss a gear, causing the engine to rev the car to coast and then eventually catches a gear as the car is rev'd and then lunges forward. Again this doesn't happen every time, just randomly.

We bought our 2017 Pacifica with around 30K miles on it. Shortly thereafter, the transmission would occasionally shift very hard while at a slow speed. It's hard to pinpoint, however it seems to happen between first and second gear. Sometimes it will rev like it has been thrown into neutral, then will finally hit a gear and shift hard with a jolt and loud bang. It did this a number of times so we took it to the dealership. They checked everything out and couldn't find a problem. The dealership said the transmission adapts to each person, so different drivers could cause the problem. However, my wife drives the van 99% of the time and she has the problem even if I haven't driven it in a long time. The problem cannot be reproduced as it seems to happen randomly. Our van now has approximately 50K miles on it and still has the hard shifting problem. The powertrain warranty ends at 60K miles and I'm afraid once it's out of warranty, the transmission will totally go out, costing us thousands of dollars. This same issue has been reported by many other Pacifica owners.

Like other complaints. This has been an ongoing issue with our vehicle: Driving at low speed (10mph or less) transmission does a hard shift as if it was trying to engage 2nd or 3rd shift. Car does a huge bump when the shift is engaged.

Many other drivers complaining about same issue: 1. driving at low speed (10mph or less) transmission does a hard shift as if it was trying to engage 2nd or 3rd shift. Car does a huge bump when the shift is engaged. 2. at high speed (65mph ~) is possible to hear a rattling noise coming from left side panel / drivers side. This is very concerning for us. Already have dealer check the vehicle but they always say they could not reproduce the issue. This is happening since the very first recall for this car. Before the first recall, no issue.

Pacifica

  • 54,200 miles
At 10mph decelerating to stop light. Engine shutoff. On restart error message appeared _service shifter. No lights on shifter designating gear in use was able to return to Chrysler service. Replacing shifter. Previously there have been instances when doors opened while car was at 30 mph. That was corrected with new locking computer. Several times the transmission would not shift into drive when car was started. Ignition had to be switched off then on a couple of times before the shifter would work properly. The parking brake would not disengage when car started and brake control button was presseed. Ignition had to be cycled couple of times. Not shifting into drive and failure to disengage brake occurred together frequently but not every time on downhill roads in cruise control at 45 to 55 mph, transmission down shifts so RPM would exceed 3000 and did not immediately upshift when road became flat. RPM would remain above 3000 for several seconds then return to 1500 RPM. This is a very recent new action. There a disturbing thunk sound and hard jerk when transmission shifts under load at approximately 40 to 50 mph
