The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. While making a turn at 35 mph, the vehicle shut off. The contact coasted the vehicle into a parking lot where it would not restart. After making arrangements to have the vehicle towed, the contact was able to restart the engine. A year later, while on a trip, the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to moberly motor company (1520 N morley St, moberly, mo 65270, (660) 263-6000) where the failure was able to be duplicated. The contact called the manufacturer and was waiting to hear back regarding a possible diagnosis of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 19,500. The consumer stated there was a 2nd failure on 3/28/2019 and vehicle could not be repaired until the problem was duplicated. The dealer still has possession of the vehicle.

It started about a month or so after we bought the vehicle. When trying to accelerate after a complete stop the van feels like it's trying to stall then takes off so hard it feels like we've been rear-ended. We've taken the vehicle to the dealer many times & never got fixed. They kept pushing it off & even ignoring me. They finally gave me Chrysler customer care #a month ago so I called & got a case. Chrysler finally called me & said there is nothing they can do even though it's still under warranty. We looked up the lemon law & realized they ignored us because we were supposed to start a claim within 18 months of purchase which was last month.

On multiple occasions the vehicle's engine has shut off while in operation on city streets bringing the car to a stop in traffic. Two of the occasions have occurred while crossing a street with oncoming traffic. Two of the occasions occurred in our neighborhood street. The vehicle then instructs the driver to shift into park to start the engine again. After shifting into park and attempting to start the vehicle all power/electrical is lost leaving the vehicle stranded.

  • 39,000 miles
I continue to have problems with "jerking" while driving my 2017 Pacifica. The best way I can describe it as the car "jerks" forward very forcefully. I have had it in 6 times for the same "jerking" motion. I am concerned that it may cause an accident if it jerks and completely stops. The "jerking" happens at very random times, acceleration, coasting, cruise control use, and slowing down. Some days it happens multiple times a day, and others it can go a week or two without happening. Chrysler has replaced valves and the entire transmission unit, however, the problem is still happening. For the past month, when the jerking happens, the steering wheel now attempts to lock and this didn't start happening until Chrysler started "messing" with parts. The vehicle was purchased with 18K miles on it as a "Chrysler certified vehicle." I have filed a case with Chrysler and was told I would be contacted within 24-48 hours and it has been 8 days with no contact from them. I have reached out to them day after day and still haven't recv'd a call back. I don't feel comfortable driving this on busy roads with my children in the car for fear of an accident.

2017 Pacifica continues after multiple attempts to repair to drop/slip out of gear while driving with no warning and then suddenly thrusts back into gear causing the entire car to jerk forward as though we have been hit from behind. These issues happen under 20mph and there is no way to control what is happening. Our necks are forced forward and the sudden shock of the movement forward is not possible to stop. The problem began in December of 2017 and after 4-5 visits to the service I still have no resolution 2 years later.

Our 2017 Chrysler Pacifica has been jerking into gear and won't accelerate and then after a few moments, it does. The jerking feels as if someone just hit you from behind and you stall before being able to accelerate. This always happened while in motion flat road, incline, or down hill. When we called the dealership and took it in and informed them of the issue, they said they didn't see a problem. Now, we have an unknown message that says "service shifter". this came after the van was sitting and we got in to start the vehicle. It wouldn't start. Had to wait for a tow. The power windows, doors, hatch won't work but the radio and communications systems work fine.

The vehicle electronics malfunctioned with the windows rolling down on there own. Following that the vehicle completely shutdown at around 40 mph locking up the steering, loss of power steering, engine turned off and would not restart. This occurred on the highway and this is the second time this occurred. The key fob will not work and the car will not start again. I can't even lock the vehicle. Luckily we had started to slow down and did not have to turn or this would have resulted in an accident with my kids in the vehicle. I will not be putting my family in this van again.

Engine, lights, and all electrical shut off twice. The first time we were stopped waiting to make a left turn.we were able to restart it right away. The second time we were making a right turn off of a busy road onto a side street and got about half way through the turn when everything shut off and we were not able to restart it.this was scary and very dangerous fortunately the van rolled sufficiently to get off the main rd. We tried to push it further but with out electric we were not able to release the parking brake which turns on when the engine stops. We were finally able to start it with the help of a portable jump starter that we always carry in the vehicle. We took it to the dealer and they were not able to find anything wrong. I have no idea what the problem is but it involves a total electric disconnect that is possibly reconnected when an outside power source is introduced (jump starter). I am afraid to drive it. I notice online several more of the same type complaints. The first was 12/26/18. The second was 1/6/19.

Vehicle started having issues starting, the vehicle would not start once the start button was pushed. Once it did start and put into reverse or drive the vehicle would not move. I would have to turn the vehicle off, and on again several times before it would start. The vehicle would shut off and then turn back on while on the interstate whenever speed was reduced. The headlights would spontaneously shut off at night while driving, and could not be turned back on. The inside dash lights would also turn off making for a very unsafe situation. The air control also did not work properly. It would be very hot at 68 degrees, and would not blow a steady flow of air. It will speed up then slow down....

Third post of same complaint. Coming from turns or when shifting in low speed, the vehicle randomly stalls upon acceleration then slams into gear, causing the entire vehicle to jolt. Have taken van to original purchasing dealership multiple times (10+) in the past year and a half, and have been told that they cannot find a problem. This category has the most complaints on the NHTSA website all of very similar issue ' something must be done from Chrysler.
