This Car also have Major Brake Problems that the Service Technician cant Fix, I believe its the Rotors because every time they check the pads I'm told they are still good. At the dealerships I have told them since about 18 months ago that i believe i need brakes, but from numerous dealers i went to they always tell me the brakes are fine, but they NEVER test drive the vehicle. I'm disappointed in the Car and the Dealerships Service Department,

Okay so I realize I am lucky to have this vehicle last as long as it has with 127,000 miles. I get regular maintenance ( oil changes, tire rotations, basic's replaced etc) and this past Jan. I needed a new water pump and new timing belt which cost me over $1,000; but is fairly standard for vehicles with 120k plus miles...HOWEVER, now my Sebring sedan has a whole new set of problems that sounds similar to other people's complaints on here. Every time I'm starting up the car, reversing it to park, or driving it and coming to a stop at a stop sign/light, the damn thing stalls out. This is very dangerous when merging off of highways for one, but I'm perplexed as if this is some problem that Chrysler is aware of considering it seems to be pretty common? I'm worried that I'll need more expensive repairs done and I'm a full time college student and don't have money to blow...any suggestions? Should I take the car to a Chrysler/Dodge dealer or will a regular mechanic be able to solve the problem? :(

Upon coming to a stop this car would just stall out on you with no warning. It would run quite well on the highway and stall when at a stop light or stop sign. And sometimes the transmission would bang when putting car into drive. I do not know about this car really all one can do it keep your fingers crossed and get an extended warranty for peace of mind.
The car looks good but that is not good enough when you are out at 2:00 in the morning!

My 2004 Sebring has been stalling out when I come to a stop. Why even have a warranty when the dealership lies and won't fix it?

Ever since I bought my Sebring used with 24k miles on it, it has been randomly stalling when I come to a complete stop. Usually it's without warning and it's impossible to get it to do it for the service department. It'll always start back up, but it just does it as the most inconvenient places...traffic, at a stop light, or at the drive through. Take it from me, if your Sebring starts doing this....get rid of it as soon as you can; It's all down hill from here. Now the oil light is starting to come on whenever I stop.

I had gotten all 4 of my spark plugs replaced because they somehow became loose and I would stall. Now, I continue to stall while slowing down or as I start to accelerate. I do not like Chryslers! =( (terrible blind spots as well!!)

I had to buy a used transmission to fix this problem because a new one is sickly over priced for this car. Chrysler seems to forget this isn't a BMW or Mercedes. Unfortunately, a KIA is better in my opinion.

I bought the car in August of 06'. The car was ok until around February of 07'. I remember the first time the car just died on me. It only does it when i come to a stop...or it revs up like i've hit the gas. But this only occurs when I am at a stop. No one seems to know what it is. I don't understand how a company can make so many damn cars with problems, and not know what the problem is. I don't get it. The car has never left me stranded, but that's besides the point. This was my first newer car, and I really wanted the Sebring. It's a shame it is such a piece of sh*t. I will never buy another Chrysler nor recommend it to my worst enemy. I had a 92' Honda Accord with over 200,000 miles on it that ran better than this piece of sh*t. If anyone finds a solution to this...please inform me. Otherwise...it's trade in time for this girl.

The car would buck like it wasn't getting any gas and the engine light would come on. It would do it at various times. Some times it would stop running when stopped or at a stop light. I took it to the dealership and they keep my car for a week and they couldn't find any problems. So I just kept driving the car, so off and on it would do the same thing. The bad park is it would just stop running while driving, which I felt very dangerous, especially while driving on the freeway. Most recently it wouldn't start. I had to have it towed to the dealership and they replaced the pcm. The same day I picked it up from the dealer, drove it out and half way around the block it stalled at the traffic light. It did start I drove it right back to the dealership. They are working on it. I received a call this evening and they informed me that a wire wasn't installed properly after replacing the pcm. I pick the car up tomorrow and will see if all is well or not. After reading all these complaints, I have my doubts.

Bought this car with low mileage thinking I got a good deal. What a mistake. The stalling at a stop - or slowing down - started about 3 weeks after I brought it home. We took it back to the dealer and they advised us that there is a transmission upgrade for the 2004 car. They assured me that this is the problem and so far it hasn't happened since. I'll keep my fingers crossed, but I definitely won't hold my breath. I think my next car will be Japanese.

The oil pressure light will come on during idling. The car will stall after coming to a stop after driving faster or on the highway. Also the jerky-ness when pressing the gas to go. Seems like we all have the same problems!

Just started doing research to educate myself on extent of problem with my car and I cant believe the consistency and accuracy that my problem fits with others..always thought it was just my car! Has stalled at very low speed or at stop rather frequently past 2yrs, occasional revs up while idling and now oil light lights up at idle almost all the time. service tech advised to flush engine and if that doesn't work, sell now while it still runs!! unbelievable..at least I have gotten 102k out of this car..luckier then some others

I have had similar problems to thee ones stated above. Rough idle, jerking at stop lights, stalling in drive and reverse. I took it to two dealerships, and they were not able to fix it. I had a tune up (replaced spark plugs) and that didn't work. Took it into the dealership again and was told it maybe fuel injectors and throttle which needed to be cleaned. They wanted to charge me $400 for this service. I took it to a local mechanic and for $120 they cleaned the fuel injectors and removed/cleaned throttle. Was great for 2 whole days, now having the same problem. I have no idea what to do... it's a 2004 sebring with 44000 miles. This car has been in and out of the dealership over 12 times in the past year for various problems. They replaced the rack and pinion, alternator, battery, brakes. Any suggestions or advice???

I seem to be noticing the same problem everyone has mentioned about the engine stalling. After driving my car for more than 20 miles, occasionally when coming to a stop, the engine will stall then die, or it will just about die, but then race back up causing the car to lurch forward.
Are there any solutions to this other than bringing your car to the dealer only for them to tell you they can not find any problems or charge you for unnecessary engine updates?

My car is experiencing the same problems as everyone else. The car seems like it should be idling at 600 RPM or higher when stopped or inching along at slow speeds. The problem most often occurs when coming to a complete stop or after repeated stop and go traffic. The RPM dips below 600 and immediately stalls. The oil indicator light comes on. The car immediately starts and you can get going again. I've noticed the problem happens more frequently the longer the car is driving. I just got done with a 200 mile trip and it happened 3 times. When driven shorter distances for shorter times, it seems to be less frequent. I also notice at times when the RPM starts to dip below 600, I'll experience a surge in the RPM, going up to about 1200 then quickly back to 600. I took it to the dealer before my warranty expired thinking it was a transmission problem but they said they found no problem with it. With so many complaints, I find it hard to believe Chrysler doesn't know what causes this problem. I want to get it fixed but don't have confidence that the dealer or repair shop will be able to find it and will instead tell me something else is needed when it isn't. I have no faith in repair shops telling me the truth. Very frustrating.

I AM A YOUNG MARRIED FEMALE WHO BOUGHT THIS CAR IN AUGUST TO GET A CAR WITH MORE ROOM. AT THE TIME WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR I THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD CAR THAT WOULD LAST ME UNTIL I WAS READY TO UPGRADE. MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE A TIME AS IT IS TO MAKE ENDS MEET AT HOME, UNTIL THIS ISSUE CAME TO PLAY. NOT ONLY DOES IT STALL ALL THE TIME, IT ALSO WHEN YOU GO TO PARK THE CAR IT DOES NOT CATCH TO RELEASE THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION UNLESS YOU SHAKE THE GEAR SHIFT TO GET THE KEY OUT.

This problem came about in the mid to late 1980's and was a big problem for many of my customers. Automatic transmissions were built with a "switch- pitch" torque converter to add overdrive to the 3 speed automatics offered in the General Motors line on their front wheel drive models. The cars would drive normally on city streets as long as they didn't go into overdrive ( above 46 mph) but once they did, the trans would lock up the converter to lower the engine rpm for cruising. When you came to a stop, and the speed was below the set-point, the converter would release out of overdrive and would let the car idle when it came to a stop. If it didn't release, the car would stall out. It would start up again normally because the system would see ( 0 ) MPH and the converter would go back to its starting point again. I fixed the problem on those cars by Disconnecting the computer plug on top of the trans so it would not go into overdrive. The car would drive just like always, but wouldn't have the lower rpm on the freeway. When it came to a stop, the car would stay running. I test drove many cars after doing this and it always cured the problem till the converter was changed at our trans shop. Hope this information was helpful to you all. If the trans is good except this issue, the cost will be much less than a complete overhaul and will save lots of money. Labor for removal / install plus the converter, with no other internal parts, only the fluid to fill it. What can be tried in the meantime is, don't put it in overdrive mode on the shifter when going into drive and see if the problem goes away.
