At 103, xxx miles, my van's engine seized up on our way to our wedding. I took it to a Chrysler certified mechanic in West branch, Iowa, and was told my connecting rods busted apart. The engine had plenty of oil in it and the engine did not overheat. Chrysler released a recall for the 2012 Town and country for the exact same issue on my 2011!! this is the same engine, a 3.6-liner pentastar V6! when I look for replacement engines, I can replace my seized engine with a 2012!! how can Chrysler getaway for releasing a recall on a 2012, but not a 2011 with the same engine!?!

The contact owns a 2011 Chrysler Town and country. While driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled and various warning indicators illuminated. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road, opened the hood, removed the battery, cleaned the battery, and then replaced the battery. Afterwards, the vehicle was able to restart. The vehicle was taken to marshall Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (140 spears ln, crittenden, ky 41030, (859) 824-3300) where it was diagnosed that the totally integrated power module was faulty and caused the electrical and engine shortages. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was 75,000.

My wife and I were driving the vehicle when all of a sudden it just completely died. We had no brakes no steering no power anywhere. Thank god we were only going 40 miles an hour and were able to cruise to a stop. Apparently this also happened to my wife earlier in the day. We have only had the car for about a week. But after doing some research apparently were not the only ones having a problem with this vehicle doing this. This needs to be fixed before someone either gets hurt or killed. We are taking it to a Chevy dealership tomorrow to get it looked at. If I'm right though its some type of module that Chrysler is very aware of that's faulty.

I have had electrical issues since the beginning of buying our vehicle brand new. Most recently the engine stalled while driving 25mph, engine light came on and flashed before the engine stalled causing power steering to fail. I took it to the dealership and was told they could not find an issue. The following week, on 3/16/18 they did an oil change and air filter change, again did not find any issues. On 3/19/18, as I was driving my 3 kids to school, the battery light came on and I lost power steering. I almost crashed with the kids in the car due to this issue. I ended up driving it back to the dealership and was told the power belt was completely off and the alternator was not attached to the engine as it should be. The brackets that hold the alternator on, was gone. This was the 3rd time this month I have brought this vehicle in, was told multiple times there was no issue. Now we could possibly have to replace the engine block.

The contact owns a 2011 Chrysler Town and country. The contact received a recall letter in 2012 and the vehicle was repaired. The NHTSA campaign number was unknown. After the repair, the contact attempted to start the vehicle, but the ignition would not turn over. After a few moments, the vehicle was able to be restarted. While driving 55 mph, the vehicle slowed down and the rpms went to zero. Suddenly, the vehicle accelerated independently and then decelerated without depressing the brake pedal. The check engine indicator illuminated prior to the failure. The vehicle was taken to sears auto center where it was diagnosed that the power steering module needed to be replaced. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to a Chrysler dealer. It was unknown if the manufacturer was contacted. The failure mileage was 79,949.

The car is having major issues with the fuel pump continuing to run. In the last 30 days it is not wanting to start in the morning. I have read on this issue and Chrysler has had several hundred complaints about the tipm being bad causing the fuel pump to continue to run or the van not to start on cold mornings. This has also cause the van to stop running while you are driving the vehicle down the road.

I believe that the tipm fuel pump relay is causing the issues. It has left the fuel pump on when the engine and power was off with the key out of the vehicle. It has many time cranked without starting, while stationary with the engine cold and also while hot. Last night it shutoff the engine while driving down the highway followed by cranking without starting.

My van started to have problems with the RPM, surging from 2 to 5 and then to 6 or 7 RPM with speeds ranging from 40mph to 65 mph. The van also sort of stalls for seconds which makes it terrifying. We took the van to bob caldwell in columbus Ohio three times to repair the issue and they updated the software, added fluid to the transmission and allegedly "drove the car for 60 miles" yet couldn't duplicate the issue. All the times that this has happened the car was running. The first time only happened when going 65 or 70 miles per hour on the highway but now it happens on regular roads when traveling 40 mph. I don't know if this related but earlier this year, my car was sent to bob caldwell because it stall/ stop completely while being driven.... the problem with the RPM started 3 months later and just last month it wouldn't start. They said the changed the gasket this time but my problem persist.

From what I've researched my problem is with the tipm. Several months ago I started having problems with starting the vehicle. Push to start nor key would start the vehicle after several attempts. Then all of a sudden it would start. Dealer found no codes to diagnose and claimed they could not reproduce it. Dealer flashed something but did not make a difference. A month ago, the car stopped on a major highway, I was fortunate to be able to make it to the shoulder. Had it towed. Diagnosed as fuel pump getting no power. They replaced the fuel pump. Still having intermittent issues with starting. Now, with no warning the vehicle justs shuts down completely as if no power. Radio, everything goes dead for a fews seconds. Then radio, lights come on with no intervention. Car cranked up both times. Has done this twice in the last two weeks. Someone will get hurt or god forbid, killed if Chrysler does not stop lying and take care of this defect. Consumer's should not be forced to pay to replace this part.

Intermittent isues with not starting when the key is turned or the remote start is pressed on the key fob. There is a click that cam be herd but engine does not turn over, after several attempts it will eventually start. Not sure it is a safety issue but more of an innocence and inconvenience. With all I have read about this issue it would seem that Chrysler Corp. Would have a fix for it by now. The van was usually parked in my driveway, sometimes over night other times after driving it to the store and back, then trying to go someplace else like a dr.apt. Sometimes it sat only a few minuets other times after an hour or so. It has a new battery and is in good condition with no corrosion on either post.

Van would not start from it's parking place at a car wash. Message came up "accessory or ignition on". I had it towed to an auto repair shop. Diagnosed as failure of the tipm (total integrated power module). This shut down all power to the vehicle including fuel pump, computer, steering, engine, and whatever else. Good thing it was parked when it failed, for had I been driving I would not have had any control of the vehicle, according to the mechanic.
