I have taken my vehical to the dealership because the air bag sensor keeps turning off and on. When I get there it off. The say they can not replicate the problem.. I am afraid the airbag is going to deploy while I am driving. Next the power that control the radio amd bluetooh will justbstop working while driving. The screen will go black and then power cycle itself as if I just turn the car on. I believe there is a major electrical problem.

Passenger headrest deployed. The vehicle was sitting in the driveway and my toddler was getting into his sit when it just popped out. I took the vehicle in for recalls and asked about it but the vehicle was past it's warranty and since it is not a recall they wanted $600 plus to replace it. Upon further inspection, it was a plastic piece that just broke overtime. Aprox mileage at the time was around 32,000.

My daughter and I were driving on a smooth street, when suddenly the passenger side headrest popped forward. It struck my daughter in the back of the head quite hard causing her to have a sore neck, and possibly need medical attention if it is not better in a day or so. This is completely unacceptable. In the long line of problems with this vehicle and numerous recalls, there is now an injury. I feel like I have to worry about my driver side headrest doing the same while I am driving. This car is literally falling apart. As a life long Dodge owner, I don't think I could ever buy another.

Journey

  • 87,000 miles
The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Journey. The contact's vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 17V432000 (air bags). The contact brought the vehicle to the victorville motors dealer (14617 civic drive, victorville, ca 92394; 760-733-8484) for the recall repair. Approximately two days after the recall repair, the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The contact called the same dealer who informed the contact that the recall repair was completed, but they were unable to show her the removed parts. The dealer also informed the contact that the air bag warning indicator illuminating could mean several other possible air bag failures, and the vehicle would need to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A VIN search was completed and NHTSA campaign number: 17V432000 (air bags) was still listed as recall incomplete. The approximate failure mileage was 87,000.

In an accident where front and back end of the car were hit. Airbags deployed. Manual says that knee airbag is just below steering column. Actual airbag deployed down by feet - directly in line with emergency brake pedal. Since drivers foot was on the brake, the airbag crushed the drivers foot against the brake pedal causing permanent damage to foot. Driver was going straight and in the process of stopping when hit in the rear causing driver to hit the car ahead. It was on a 4 lane city street. 4 cars involved in accident- all going straight at a light. 2 older cars with no airbags were able to drive away. They were the front cars. Dodge Journey was 3rd. Driver of Dodge Journey was the only injury. Getting ready for 3rd surgery. This accident has caused a permanent disability. Driver will never walk normally again...updated 09/26/17...updated 10/03/17 updated 7/19/18

My vehicle started flashing the airbag light any time I would turn right, now it stays on at all times. When calling my local dealer, I was informed that they sell nearly 20 clock springs of the same part number a week. If this many of the same part is being sold, clearly there is an issue with the original part.

The contact owned a 2014 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that the dealer repaired the vehicle per NHTSA campaign number: 15V675000 (electronic stability control and service brakes, hydraulic). After the repair, there was a loss of vehicle stability and no traction while driving on the highway during inclement weather. The contact felt as if the recall remedy failed to provide a solution, which resulted in a crash. While driving approximately 65 mph on the highway, there was a sudden loss of power and the steering wheel seized. The vehicle crashed into a wall and flipped upside down. The driver sustained head, neck, and lower back pains. The front passenger was suspended upside down, restrained in the seat belt, and had to be cut out of the vehicle by a responder. The rear passengers sustained bruising and whiplash from the impact. One of the two rear passengers was medevacked due to the injuries sustained. The curtain air bags deployed after the crash. The front driver and passenger side air bags later deployed with a low level of deflation and a smoke residue filled the vehicle. The vehicle was destroyed and towed. A police report was filed. The insurance company provided no inspection and diagnosis to determine what caused the crash. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures and the crash. The failure mileage was not available.

While driving in normal conditions on the highway, the vehicle brakes were applied and I began to loss control of the vehicle. The vehicle then flipped over on its side and airbags eventually deployed. I was taken to the hospital for potential injuries from the incident. No citations were given for the loss to indicate negligence on my end. I believe this may have been resulted from the current recall on the vehicle.
