Vehicle simply turned off on its own while I was driving. I had just began accelerating from a stop light and in the midst of a turn when the vehicle failed. After stopping then the check engine light illuminated. I was stuck at a large intersection for a few minutes as trying to turn the vehicle back on resulted in it just kind of jerking/stuttering initially. Eventually I was able to turn it back on and drive a bit down the road when it turned off again but at least I made it to a business' parking lot. I had the vehicle towed to a repair shop and they could not find an issue. No error codes and would not cut off on them as it did me. I still had them replace the crankshaft sensor as the technician said that is usually the issue when a car cuts off during driving.

The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Journey. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle shut off without warning. The contact was forced to turn on the emergency lights and depressed the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. In addition, the check engine warning indicator illuminated as the vehicle was restarted. The contact drove to freedom Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram by ed morse (815 E camp wisdom rd, duncanville, tx 75116, 972-427-4019) where she was informed that the crankshaft and the other wiring needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. A year later, while driving 55 mph, the vehicle shut off again without warning. The contact turned on the emergency lights and depressed the brake pedal, but the failure continued. The contact restarted the vehicle and continued to drive. The manufacturer was notified of the failures and provided a case number. The contact was informed to take the vehicle back to the dealer. Upon taking the vehicle back to the same dealer, the contact was informed of had two other unknown and unrelated recalls on the vehicle. The dealer stated that the failure was again due to the crankshaft; however, the repair would not be covered under warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 32,000.

Engine stalls while driving causing vehicle to shut off with no warning. It has to coast to a stop as power steering and brakes go out once shut off. This is very dangerous and could cause a fatal accident. I have taken the vehicle to the shop and nothing could be found wrong with it. This is very frustrating and potentially fatal.

Journey

My 2016 Dodge Journey experienced a crankshaft position sensor "a" circuit malfunction (obd code P0335) while I was driving, resulting in an engine stall and total loss of power. Nearly resulted in a crash. I've since observed from other drivers that this is a very common failure on the Dodge Journey, and a serious safety issue. A recall for this problem (safety recall S89 / NHTSA 16V-907) was issued in February 2017, but applies only to a limited number of vehicles built from may to July 2016. Based on my own experience and that of other owners as reported online, I believe the issue is more widespread than the NHTSA apparently believes, and I suggest that the existing recall be expanded considerably.

At the end of Jan/beginning of Feb I contacted Dodge cares with catalytic converter issue and my car was just at warranty of the that 30 miles from warranty and wanted them to give an extension because as soon as the light came on I could not get to the dealership. I have a 2016 Dodge Journey and have long commutes. I was able to have a mobile mechanic diagnose for me. Dodge was unhelpful and would only take their dealerships diagnostic. Then 6 weeks later it comes out that Dodge 2016 Journeys are having catalytic issues but mine will not anything mailed out if affected until Q4 of 2019 and Dodge is also telling me at this point my car which is a V4 Dodge 2016 with catalytic failure at the mileage I told them is not part of the recall. It really does not make sense that mine would not be. I already paid to have a mobile diagnose. I have been treated horribly by 2 of there dealerships and ripped off which is why I avoid their dealerships like the plague. This needs to be addressed. This car has had so many expensive repairs. All right out of warranty!!! the code P0420 came on and I notified Dodge of the problem in Jan 23 2019 and then in March they start with cat problems. I have attached the Dodge cares messages and also the Dodge chat support. With the information on 2016 Dodge Journey having cat issues I only get the run around from them as this is not the first case I had with them. I also had the camshaft recall they tried to not give me as well. Case escalations have never been helpful and always come up with a reason to fault me not them. The carbon minoxide can kill

While driving my Journey will stall and I lose power steering and brakes with no warning. It also randomly happens when stopping. This has happened while sitting in traffic at a red light and when it turns green my car doesn't move. Had to put it in park and restarted with no issues. This happened when stopping at a stop sign. Had to put it in park and restart. This happened when slowing down to turn left. Lost all power steering and brakes. Almost had a head on collision and rear ended with 2 children in the car. After I got the car to stop I had to put it in park and start. Every time this issue happens I have to put it in park and it starts right back up. I have taken to the dealership twice, same issues and they say nothing is wrong because they are not getting an error code.

The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that the vehicle completely shut off while driving 25 mph. In addition, the check engine indicator illuminated, the power steering seized, and the brakes stopped working. The contact steered the vehicle to the side of the road and it rolled to a stop. The vehicle was towed to fred martin superstore (3195 barber rd, barberton, oh 44203, (330) 753-4444) where it was diagnosed that the crankshaft position sensor failed. The dealer confirmed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 42,194. Consumer stated there are recalls on other 2016 Dodge Journeys for problems with the crankshaft sensor. I think they need to include other models.

I was driving my 2016 Dodge Journey crossroad and the ABS lights came on and then I felt my car jerk like it was going to stall. I tried to get off the freeway and my car stalled out. I put it in drive and it would stall again. It sounded like the engine was going to fall out of my car. It would stall out even in reverse. It would only run in park. The tow truck driver said it sounds like the crank shaft or transmission. My car is only 3yrs old and well taken care of. No check engine light came on, the scanner wouldn't read any error codes. I am currently waiting on the mechanic to look at it this weekend, my 9month old niece and I almost died by being rear ended by traffic coming off the off ramp.

For the past week, while taking my children to school, on a residential street, the car stalls. I will be on the road and go to slow down because I am coming up on a car at the stop sign and the car stalls out. I have to put it in park, turn it off, and then turn it back on again. Again, this happens every day.

Vehicle was in reverse. As soon as the gas was pressed the engine stalled out. We were pulling out from a parking spot when it happened. This is now the fourth instance in 4 weeks this has happened.
