While the vehicle is in motion on the highway the check engine light and traction control light appear. When this happens, the vehicle loses all power and brakes. At this point I am unable to accelerate to move to a safe area where the car needs to be turned off and restarted. Once the vehicle is turned off and back on the check engine light stays lit and the traction control light will turn off momentarily. Upon driving the vehicle again, the traction control light will turn back on and the previous steps need to be repeated.

During rush hour, I was on the way to pick up my daughter from day care. As I slowed down into the turning/merge lane at an intersection, my car just turned off without prior warning. I came to a stop and attempted a restart, but it would not allow a restart until the 6th try. My hazard lights would not turn on, so I had to wave angry drivers to go around me. It was very stressful because I was afraid of being rear-ended while waiting for it to restart so I could move out of harm's way. I purchased this vehicle, brand new, in April 2016. I didn't have problems with it until it was 2 years old. For the first year, I even commuted to work 3 hours daily. Now, I am afraid to drive it 3 miles. The engine will simply turn off while driving. We researched it online and found it was most likely a camshaft or crankshaft sensor issue. Even after having both sensors replaced, the problem has continued. Mechanics are at a loss because the problem is intermittent. Sometimes, I can drive it a few days in a row without any issue. I simply cannot believe that my particular VIN was not part of the recall to replace the sensors and that there seems to be no solution to this dangerous vehicle. I cannot drive my 2-year-old car anywhere for fear of an accident!

The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Journey. Occasionally, while driving approximately 45-70 mph, the vehicle decelerated independently and then stalled. The vehicle was taken to towbin Dodge llc (275 auto mall dr, henderson, nv 89014, (702) 558-3800) to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to verify the failure. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 16V907000 (engine and engine cooling). The vehicle was repaired per the recall; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 30. The consumer stated the vehicle began trying to stall out then turned off while driving. At time the vehicle would not start.

Driving my daughter to school this morning, slowed from 25 mph for upcoming stop sign. Lost all power and steering. All electrical components in the vehicle were blank. Seemed a bit difficult to stop but not sure if that was a brake issue. Stored vehicle. Put it in park. Lights on components came back on immediately and button start indicator still lit in run position. Stepped on brakes and pushed the button and the vehicle started fine. No issues on return home. Almost exactly 2 hours later tried to take my son to school. Hit unlock button on keys, no response. Tried multiple tonnes and any/all buttons- no response. Used "valet" key to unlock door. No component lights or indicators came on. Left the drivers door open, opened hood, looked around, no obvious problems. Shook battery cables- all tight. Closed hood hazard lights started flashing. Got in and pressed on the brakes, pushed start button and vehicle started. Did not drive it at that time. Barely 2 hours later I started the vehicle too drive to work. Let it warm up for about 3 minutes, then took city streets. About 1 mile into the drive I stopped for a red light. Vehicle again lost all power, no lights on components, nothing. Had a vehicle coming up behind me so quickly put it in park and restarted the vehicle. Oil indicator light came on. Looked at vehicle info and temps were all within mid-range. Got to work (approximately 1 more mile away) and turned vehicle off. I have started it on each break (every 2-3 hours) and none oil light is on and no other issues have occurred. I bought this vehicle on January 5th, have driven it practically every day, put almost 400 miles on it (now at 14,807) and no issues until today. Scared to drive it now but must get to work to pay for it!

I was driving 65 mph in a middle lane on the freeway when my engine suddenly stalled out. I lost the ability to steer or brake, and my vehicle quickly lost speed. I barely managed to get to the side of the freeway before it completely stopped. I called my husband to come get me, and he managed to restart it and drove it home while I followed in our truck. About 5 miles down the road, the engine stalled out on him. We took it to the Dodge dealership, and the mechanic who took it for a test drive freaked out when the problem happened to him with my husband in the passenger seat. However, they found nothing wrong with the vehicle and refuse replace any of the recalled parts from 2016 Dodge Journey's relating to the engine stalling out because they insist my car was manufactured a couples of weeks before the recall goes into effect. My concern is for my three toddlers who were sitting in the back seat and nearly got killed. I have called Dodge repeatedly about this, but they haven't fixed it yet or given me a reason why my one year old car is so dangerous.

Wife was backing out of driveway and engine stopped / stalled as she entered the road and started to turn while backing. Radio and electrical systems were working. Had to push starter button to off so I could start it again. Attempting to start it already in the run position failed with an error I don't remember and did not write it down at the time as she woke me up to tell me what happened and I went out to driveway and check. Unknown reason why and have not contacted dealer yet. Reporting this here as it may seem to be a trend after doing a google search. Has not happened before with this vehicle.

This is a common problem with the crankshaft position sensor (code P0335) and needs Dodge to recall on this and fix this lethal fault of complete lose of control at speed. The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that there was an internal failure and the radio shorted out. The dealer (lawton Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, 215 SE interstate dr, lawton, ok 73501, (580) 350-6000) diagnosed that it was due to a hardware failure, but provided no solution. The dealer advised the contact to notify sirius xm. The contact notified sirius xm and was informed to notify the warranty company to service the radio. The radio failure was not resolved. The vehicle was recently purchased less than 30 days ago and the dealer provided no reason as to why they had not completed the recall repair for NHTSA campaign number: 16V907000 (engine and engine cooling) prior to selling the vehicle. The contact was uncertain if there was also an internal electrical failure with other components besides the radio. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 17,300. Parts distribution disconnect.

"takata recall" on 4 or more occasions my vehicle has shut down while driving. This normally occurs when slowing down or after tapping the brake. The first time was about 2 months after purchasing the vehicle after leaving work and stopping at a stop light. It has died while slowing down to take a curve and also on a busy highway out of town tapping brakes in heavy traffic going about 50mph and almost getting rear ended. Each time I would have to come to a complete stop, put it in park and restart the vehicle.

The car stalled out with no warning on the highway. Luckily I was going slow because I was going on an off ramp to get onto the highway. The car siezed up completely I had no control I barely was able to limp it into a parking lot. I was lucky. The car restarted with no problems after that. I took it to the dealer and they spent 3 full days diagnosing the problem. They found nothing. I looked online and there are similiar complaints about this vehicle. And the same thing is said over and over again.........nothing is known about the problem thus nothing can be done about the problem. Meanwhile I am stuck driving a car that could at any time do the same thing again. It is like playing russian roulette. I do not want to drive this car again I do not want this car anymore.

I bought this car with 11 miles on it. A couple weeks ago I was going about 30 mph and I stopped at a 4 way stop. I did a complete stop the engine turned off the steering wheel locked and I was stuck in the intersection luckily I didn't get hit. I had to put it back in park and it turned on. Scary situation. Today I attenpted to turn on the ignition and it just turned and turned for 30 seconds and car didn't start. I turned it off and tried again the car started but check engine light is on still don't know what's wrong will take to dealer asap

While driving my brand new Dodge Journey just purchased almost 2 months ago, the engine stalls out suddenly while driving. This has happened 3 times now, with the last time being on a major highway almost causing a major accident. The engine shuts off, steering wheel and brakes lock and car just coasts to a stop. After a minute the car can be restarted. No lights come on to signify a problem during this time, it just stalls out completely causing a major potential for an accident. Brought to the dealership who says they can find nothing wrong with the car. I have 3 children and this happened with 1 in the car, putting us in serious danger.

Vehicle stalls randomly while decellerating, braking, stopped or driving. All electrical components remain operational (A/C. radio, gauges, etc.) but braking and steering become difficult. You must come to a stop, park and restart the vehicle. This has happened three times now, twice to myself and once to my wife. Two dealerships have found no issue so nothing can be done. I am at the end of my options and fear for the safety of my family. Please advise me of my options before one of us is hurt or worse.

I had 2016 Dodge Journey bought from superstition Dodge in mesa Arizona. The engine shuts off by itself while braking and one time while driving. When engine shuts off the car looses power steering and brakes. This could cause fetal accident and may be death. I contacted Dodge tempe Arizona. I went to them after it happen first time and they said no error code and it could be a glitch!! then when it happen for second and third time and I was about to make an accident, I contacted them again and contacted Dodge company. They open a case # 29588743. And tempe Dodge took again for over a week and they were not able to find the root cause. They want to give me the car back and I am afraid about my family safety and people and cars in the street. I contacted Dodge again and the case manager name is [xxx]. she said there nothing she can do and she wants to close the case. They do not care and they want to give the car back to me knowingly that the car could have an accident again if the engine shuts off and the car fail to brake and steer. What happen is when driving, sometimes "3 times" when brake "2 times" or when slowing while running "1 time" the engine shuts off and the ignition button still shows run and ac is still working on the battery. When engine shuts off no brakes so car keeps moving and steering is very hard to control because of loss of power. It is life threatening and could cause death to pedestrians and or passengers. Please help, I do not want my family to get injured or die and I do not want people in the street to get injured or die.
