Ram 1500 5.9L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 150,000 miles

I have 3 Dodge trucks in all. I have a 1995 dodge ram 1500 with a 5.7 in it and parts of the dash is gone, I put a carpet pad over it. I have a 1994 dodge ram 1500 with a 5.7 in it. A lot of the dash is gone. Then I have a 1995 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 5.9 in it that the dash is mainly gone. I have only seen 1 dodge ram 1500 in my life with a good dash in it. Whoever designed it needs to start school all over again from the first grade, then they may learn how to make things that need to last to last. The person is a moron that did this. The Dodge trucks are the only ones that have this problem. I have never seen a GM truck or a Ford truck or any others with this kind of problem. Thank you very much DODGE, I like my Dodge trucks but not the dash.

The hole started small (should have never started) and once it was about fist size, it grew so fast I had to start calling it a factory optioned weight saving dash to make myself feel better about it. Now 99 percent of my dash is gone and I can no longer use my cup holders. I'm stuck using a sonic drink tray in the middle of the floor. Not only is the upper dash broken, but so is the lower mounting points for it above the glove box. So I can't just go buy a new dash (again shouldn't ever have to) and put it in. Nowhere sells the lower section of the dash. So I am stuck with a very ugly interior that can't be fixed.

I know Dodge has the resources to fix second gen dashes. Even if they are 20 years old (mine is) they should still fix them as a courtesy for releasing this crap in the first place. The whole truck is great and still runs strong accept the dash. As far as them calling it just cosmetic, I disagree. If the vehicle were to be in a wreck and the air bags deployed my passenger is gonna get a nice face full of sharp plastic shards from the dash that shouldn't be falling apart. And its literally just falling apart. Takes zero effort to reach up and grab a piece of dash. I've had pieces break when I've hit a bump in the road. I have a friend with an 89 Chevy Silverado 1500 single cab and his dash is in one solid working piece. There is no excuse for this issue. All I want is a new dash Dodge you can do it.

We have a 1995 and 1998 Dodge trucks and both of them have cracked up dashes. They just disintegrate! And because they are a known problem, you have to pay BIG BUCKS to replace them! It just infuriates me!

This is a normal thing for cracked dashes, but my dash is in 13 different pieces, and it's ridiculous.. Dodge needs to place a recall out, it's actually dangerous considering pieces are so brittle that if you hit a bump they break, and fly off

I also have this 1995 Dodge Ram 1500 that also has the same problem with the dashboard cracking in the middle and on both sides. Is this from the heat? I don't know what to do.

Ram 1500

  • Automatic transmission
  • 89,000 miles

I called dodge, they issued a complaint number and then called back (after 3 months) and said that the rep had contacted me. What a bunch of hooey, never heard from him. I called them back after the message was left. They wouldn't give me reps number, but told me that they would have dealership call me. Not holding my breath. They want me to pay for a dash that broke into 3 pieces and fell into itself. Now there is exposed metal, I won't drive the truck and I am worried that my husband will get seriously hurt if he get's in a wreck. I am looking for an attorney that has a class action.

I cannot afford to pay to have dash replaced. My husband has been out of work 2 years and I am making 1/2 of what I used to make.

Ram 1500

  • Automatic transmission
  • 125,000 miles

My dash started cracking, then cracked more, then more, then pieces started falling out, then the whole dash started shaking and looked as though it was going to fall in my lap, there was nothing holding it towards firewall as all the fasteners had broken away from the dash. What a piece of junk. I can't put a dash cover over it because it's not secured to anything underneath. A new dash is around $300 and that doesn't include labor to install it. You also must loosen the whole dash and steering column, trim, etc. to install another one. This dash is defective and Dodge should be liable to replace it. The plastic is too brittle. My dash ended up in about 15 pieces that I couldn't think about gluing or trying to fix.

Always had problems with Dodge. First off tranny went out at around just over 100,000 miles then the dash board just fell apart for NO reason at all. Every time I hit a bump just pieces would drop. It was so brittle. Dodge defiantly needs to recall these dashes.

I am not the original owner, but he told me the dash started cracking after just a few years, and now the whole dash is about to fall out. All the areas where the bolts are (next to the windshield) have broke off into little pieces and the dash is basically about to fall into my lap. I checked on any dash recall but found none. I searched for replacement dashes, found none that had stated the inferior material was not used. After seeing all the Dodge trucks around with cracked dashes, I'd say Dodge needs to recall and fix ALL dashes on any Dodge truck still road worthy.

Once my dash started cracking it continued until it fell into small pieces. I could not even let my grandson ride until I replaced for fear of him getting cut or a piece flying out of the AC vents. This was unbelievable. My buddy has a 98 Dodge and his did the same thing. I walked around a junk yard one day and all the dodge pickups had cracked dashes. Not a coincidence I promise you.
