I just started college, and all the sudden my truck just decided to start #$%^in up. I drove it ten miles and it lost all power, and backfired and barely idled or revved above a grand.
The computer at the shop said everything was fine, but it said "lean air/fuel ratio"...I've been online for two days straight trying to get answers before I go sinking money into a
$1700 truck. After it cools off it runs fine. Any hints?

Bought vehicle new in '95. About 2005 truck engine started to loose power after driving on fairly long trips. Engine would loose power, backfire a few times, idle extremely rough to the point I'd need to pull off road. After cooling down 10-15 minutes, vehicle would restart w/ no problem and run just fine until the next time it acted up the same way. Very intermittent but acts the same way everytime. Has happened off on on for the last several years. NO ONE seems to be able to diagnose it. Was told ECU was bad and needed replacement ($1,200.) but first trip out it acted up again. Check engine light indicated bad "ambient air intake sensor", replaced it but again, it acted up. Runs just great around town. Only seems to act up when on long trip on freeway.
