Ram 1500 SLR V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 165,000 miles

The seat belts are in the retracted position and will not come out.

Also, a few years ago the plastic dash board cracked and a large piece fell in.

Ram 1500 Sport 360

  • Automatic transmission
  • 26,000 miles

I see there is no campaign for this, (seat belts), but there was a service bulletin I was able to find online several years ago. I am also having to throw the loose retracted belt up into the drivers seat before I close the door. I tell you what, I never drive off without my seat belt on anymore because invariably if I do, it's hanging out the door dragging. (A dead giveaway).. Ever heard of a service bulletin? They are reports distributed inside dealerships that outline a problem that is a good candidate for recall, but hasn't been admitted to yet. The reports have red and white barber pole stripes around all the edges with a warning to technicians that "showing this bulletin to anyone outside the dealership will be considered breach of confidentiality, and will be punished". I know, because I worked in a new car dealership, (not Dodge). As a tech, I would get a big stack of these every month. (don't tell)

Update from Nov 2, 2012: PS. Want to see alot more info on items that should have been recalled?

Ram 1500 8 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,500 miles

Just bought this used Dodge Ram 1500 with 80500 miles. Tried to use the seat belts on the front driver's and passenger's side and they both do not work. They stay in the retracted position and cannot be pulled out. Has this happened to anyone else?

Ram 1500 SLT V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 69,343 miles

after servicing my battery posts and charging the battery, the seat belts would not release from the retracted position. after driving several times without seat belts which is illegle, i am trying to find a solution other than taking it to a shop and getting screwed. i know that there are designed in problems to make service technicians able to separate you from your money. example service engine light at certain milage whether a problem exist or not.
