- the contact stated that when she got into her 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 (failure mileage: 100000) the seat belts were retracted and locked. The contact took the vehicle to the shop and they notified her of the recall on the retractor. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who stated that they were not aware of the recall and asked her to make an appointment. Updated 2/22/2007 - both front seat belt were locked in the retracted position and could not be used. The seat belt light is illuminated on the dash. The water pump has been replaced. The air conditioning has been replaced. The brake lines have been replaced. The rear end has been replaced. The driver's side window would not roll down.

Chrysler Corp factory installed an odd, defective A/C compressor unit with a housing that disintegrated, creating a large hole and spread metal particles throughout the system. Because this part was one of only a few odd ones installed, a new one had to be purchased at the Dodge dealership at a cost of $700, which is more than 3 times cost of part installed in majority of vehicles that year. An additional $632 had to be paid to the Dodge dealership to clear the system of metal debris and replace parts damaged. I consider their deceiving the consumer by putting in odd, poor quality (and expensive to replace) parts without disclosing it, fraudulent and dishonest. When a vehicle is made, the parts installed should be the same from the first one off the assembly to the very last one, so that the cost to replace is fair and affordable to the buyer. I have sent documentation, pictures, and receipts and requested reimbursement (which they have refused to do) of the costs I have incurred because of their fraudulent practices when concerned about making more profit. Appreciate your assistance with this matter. Thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

I have had my vehicle back to the dealer for service several times due to coolant loss and odor in cab. They said, on at least two of the occasions, that they do not see a problem. On one occasion they did replace the thermostat but the problem persisted. Now the check engine light came on and the service dept says its the "intake manifold gasket". I asked if it was under warranty and was told no. I asked if the loss of coolant was due to this gasket failure they stated that the gasket had nothing to do with the cooling system.? I asked a friend of mine if the gasket defect could be the reason for the coolant loss and he advised me, most definitly. Needless to say, I needed the truck fixed, so I paid for the repair. Low and behold I'm still losing coolant.

Catalytic converter went out. Consumer was traveling on the highway and the vehicle just stopped. Also, transmission fluid and oil was leaking from underneath the vehicle. The dealer could not solve the transmission problem, but the vehicle was taken to the dealer 19 times for repair. Water pump was leaking and was replaced. The engine was over heating due to thermostat and gasket failures. The A/C blows warm air due to low pressure switch failure. The driver seat was coming apart. Rear lights blinkers and brakes were not working due to blown fuse. The rear right brake locksup on hand stop. The left door speakers malfunctions.
