Ram 1500 5.2L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 90,000 miles

I have owned my dodge ram for 7 years now. I have had a few problems with it. I don't want to get into that now. The one constant problem is the tranny. Every time I put it in reverse it does not want to engage. Sometimes it goes in with no problem and other times I just sit there waiting like an ass.

When it finally goes in the whole truck jerks back and the transmission makes this horrible banging noise. So embarrassing. I love my truck ,it has treated me well over the years. I have spent too much money on it though. Its over 100,000 miles now and hope it last a few more years. Just hope the transmission holds up?

Ram 1500 Sport V8

  • Automatic transmission

hello all you dodge owners. look we all have problems with trucks, but I would say dodge does SUCK!!!!!! Ive taking my truck to many many places to get fixed and they all have different things they say is wrong. Even when they hook it to a COMPUTER. All i can say is WOW!! I have two Chevys; they run GREAT... its a CHEVY too! fix your fu-king problems

DON'T BUY DODGE. it cost to much to fix, mechanics are a joke ,they all have to many reasons to fix them. its ONLY A TRANSMISSION. I don't have $3,000 to throw a way 1-2-3-times to fix it. A match or a bic lighter is cheaper. I wish they would make trucks like they used too. My 78 Chevy is my mud truck. its big and bad. it has the same tranny in it from day ONE. only thing I had to replace was a gasket kit $120 now that's a tranny. new trucks cost way to much and to much to fix they always BREAK

Ram 1500 360

  • Automatic transmission
  • 175,000 miles

When the automatic transmission is shifting gears it works fine until it trys to go into overdrive. When it reaches this point it seems to not want to shift. But if you STUMP on the gas for a few seconds the RPM's get up high enuff and you let off the pedal it seems to finally go into overdrive and it runs perfect. Can someone tell me why the transmission is doing this or how to fix it???

PCM had to be reprogrammed by the dealer, that stopped the transmission from getting stuck in 3rd gear but it took 700 to find out that's what it needed from the beginning.
