About 3 weeks ago the wheel bearing and the upper ball joint went out in my truck causing an accident. When these parts of the suspension broke the truck went off of the road and hit a tree causing damage to the rear of the cab and the front of the bed on the passenger side of the truck. The shock stabilizer was also bent and now the truck is not drivable. The upper ball joint going out is a common problem in the durango's. There are a lot of this same model truck around here and they all are making the same noise that my truck was making before the front end finally broke. I just hope I'm not meeting anybody that has these same parts break in their truck.

I own a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab 4x4. I heard a 'thumping' noise coming from somewhere under the cab of the truck. I thought maybe the exhaust had come loose and checked it and the drive shaft a couple of times. This happened on and off over a day or 2. I had just left work and was on my way to the mechanics when I made a sharp turn out of the drive. The front passenger tire made a squeaking sound then kind of a light grinding sound. I drove slowly there until I had to go through town. I hit the brakes and they went to the floor. I had to pump them several times to get them to stop before I hit another vehicle (luckily I didnt). I went through town (which is small) and was going out the other side when the wheel suddenly jerked and the front tire started grinding. I pulled into a parking lot, and the wheel was slanted and looked like it was gonna fall off. I called my friend that's a mechanic and we had to load it on a flat bed and tow it to his house. The front right (passenger side) Wheel Hub Bearing Assembly had to be replaced (which he's doing now). Through all of the local auto stores, the cheapest place I found it was $115.00 with a one year warranty. I found it online through a Google search from an auto supply store for $84.95 with free shipping and a 2 year warranty. I ordered it, not sure how much it's gonna cost to put it on though. Was a HUGE pain in the ass to have to find a trailer big enough to tow it, then borrow a truck to tow it as well since obviously mine didnt work. If you dont have access to a flatbed, good luck getting a cheap tow bill.
