Just need to know what to do about it. It starts fine, but when I put it in gear it stalls. Seems to go away after it warms up. Replaced throttle position sensor and Idle Air control valve and thought it was ok, Started fine and went in gear fine. Today it stalled twice when put in reverse, but has not done it again so far. Almost afraid to take it out anywhere as to this may happen again. It did it quite a few time a few days ago when my wife and I took it in town and stopped at a light and it stalled while in gear with my foot on the brake. Finally got in the gas station, fueled up and had to keep my foot on the gas and revved up whenever I had to brake to slow down to make a turn to get it home. Drove it around the yard a while ago and it seems fine, that is after it stalled on me twice.

Have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9l 4X4, 170300 miles. Problem started two months ago. Intermittently stalls in slow stop and go traffic or when you slow down to take a curve or go downhill. When this happens, put in neutral and sometimes will start right away, sometimes have to crank 4 to 5 times. Odometer displays "no bu5", engine light, fuel light, abs light, brake light (parking brake not applied) are on, fuel gauge shows empty (even if tank is full). After engine starts, gauges return to normal. Have replaced fuel pump assembly, rotor, cap, spark plugs and wires, coil, pcv valve and hose, crankshaft sensor and battery. Truck still continues to stall. Noticed the fuel pump sound/hum pitch changes when brakes are applied. Need help. Cannot afford a new truck. Note: Transmission has been occasionally been going in and out of overdrive for over a year.

This was really a pain in the ass. The truck would die at the most wrong places like a red light or just driving down the road. It would start back up after about 10 to 15 min. It would turn over but would not start. I found a site called All computer resources that would send a re-manufactured computer for the price of $275 before tax. They would ask for the VIN and the mileage to set the computer that they send. Once you have it installed you send the one that came out of the truck back to them with the box that they sent the re-manufactured computer.

Problem is now a year later the truck is starting to do the same thing. After talking with the re-manufacturing company, they said that how do I know that it was the computer? My response was that it is starting to do the same thing. Their response was to take off the negitive side of the battery and unplug the computer for 30 min. Then plug it back up, re-connect the battery, and start the truck. While running tap the computer with a hammer lightly and if the truck does the same thing then it would be the computer. Today I will try that.
