Ram 1500

  • 88,000 miles
The contact owns a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 mph, she drove over a bump in the road and the entire the instrument panel lights failed. The contact moved the vehicle off the roadway and attempted to shift into park but the shifter was stuck in the drive gear. The contact attempted to move the shifter several times before engaging. The contact stated the failure would occur whenever she would drive over an uneven road surface. In addition, often when the failure would occur, the key would not turn in the ignition until after several attempts. The contact stated the vehicle was previously repaired under an unknown recall and the failures did not occur until the recall work was performed. The dealer advised the recall repairs were not related to the failure the contact was experiencing. The vehicle was not further repaired. The failure mileage was 88,000 and the current mileage was 91,000.

  • 54,000 miles
The tranmission failed on my 2001 Dodge Ram quad cab 4X4 at 54,000 miles (unbelievable!). well maintained! I had two different licensed mechanics look at and diagnose suspected problem (high quote of $2,500 for full transmission repair), incurred 2 tow charges, called Chrysler meadowbrook Dodge dealership (where vehicle was purchased)- they couldn't look at it for 2 days and told me since I was past my 3/36 warranty to take my truck to a transmission shop for faster service and better price. I called Chrysler customer relations and was told that a good faith payment toward my $2,100 bill would not be made because I was past my warranty and didn't have my vehicle serviced at an authorized dealer otherwise maybe something could have been done. I feel Chrysler should reimburse me. I leased this vehicle new, this well maintained vehicle only had 54,000 highway miles on it, the transmission should not have failed.

The column shifter has broken down a total of five times since Oct 2001. It has been fixed each time by antwerpen Dodge at no cost. Would like to thank Mr. Elliot abascal of antwerpen Dodge at 12420 auto dr., clarksville, md 21029, phone number 410 531 5701. This is the first Dodge truck that I owned and it's been a major disappointment, considering the fact that I paid over $21,000 of my hard earned money and have to repeatedly turn it in for service. This is unacceptable. More importantly, if I were to engage the steering colum and it malfunctioned, I may get into a serious accident. Somebody may be hurt or even killed. Don't know what else to say except that I will not buy a Dodge Ram again unless this matter is resolved. Will go back to buying Chevy trucks. I can be reached at 410 674 2667 or 301 429 5514 (work). Respectfully, ltc daniel L. bloom, jr.
