Ram 1500 Slt, Sport, Off-road 5.9L Magnum V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 69,000 miles

I serviced my truck's transmission just like it recommended in owner's manual and never abused it but with under 80000 miles it went out. No drive gear at all. Paid to get it towed to repair shop where I was told that drive gear "welded itself to the case...". I'm a Mopar man but Chrysler dropped the ball with their 46re transmission. Also with others like 44re, 47re, etc. Bring back the bullet proof 727 torqueflite! Now transmission is acting up again!!!

  • Automatic transmission
  • 131,000 miles

I recently purchased my truck and I really like it. It is very clean and the engine runs smooth as a sewing machine. But about a week after I purchased it I noticed something, when I turned to the left and give it a little gas the transmission slips. When it finally catches up, it hits like I've been in an accident. This forces me to turn very slowly which is painful for me and anyone unfortunate enough to be behind me. The fluid level is fine. Someone please help.

Ram 1500 V8 Magnum 5.9L

  • Automatic transmission

I just got done paying my 2001 dodge ram off after 72 months of almost $ 500. a month and less than a month later the tranmission started making a grinding sound when shifting from first to second, but it's funny it doesn't do it in 4 wheel drive I contacted chrysler and they said oh well we only warranty vfor 32,000 miles, I let them know that the American public bailed them out, but they won't stand behind their product that they know is faulty. I am a single woman who has to work to support myself, I can't afford to get it fixed, so it sets in the driveway, I ended up buying a 94 ford explorer for $ 500.00 as to get back and forth to work. I love my dodge but what do I do ?

Bought this truck use from a Mitsubishi dealership far from where I live as I was out on a job when I saw it. It's 7 years old but only had 100175 K's on her. She is super clean, still has all the bar tags on all the factory parts, even on drive shaft, springs, links, underneath etc. Looks like it was hardly ever used. Only had this truck for 3 days when the engine light went on. Call the dealer, & they said they would take care of it. They said they topped off the tranny fluid & the light when off. Remember now I have to take time off work to get there, as they are in another municipality of our city. Anyway, the engine light came back on the next day. Back to the dealer & another day off work. this time they changed the transmission fluid & filters, the light went out. But of course it was on again the next day. This time I took it to a Chrysler dealership & they said it was torque converter & maybe something else once they got a deeper look. They said it could cost from $1200 to $2500 depending on what they find. I called the Mitsubishi dealers where I bought it from & they said Chrysler was just trying to rip me off. They said that they deal with a Chrysler dealer out where they are & to bring the truck there. Even further than where they are! ..Once again another day off work, & the Chrysler dealership they sent me to replaced some module, light when out for about a week, then came back on. Here we go again, back to them, this time they did a tune-up saying that they needed to eliminate any mixed signals in the diagnostics. Well guess what the F-ing engine light came back on again! I haven't had an enjoyable drive in this truck since I got it! ...well not counting the first three days before all this sh*t happened. Now I am being told that there might be leaking seals in the shafts internally as now if you drive it for over an hour or so the Over Drive light also come on & if you drive it a bit longer the Tranny Hot light comes on as well! I would shove this truck up their asses if I didn't fall in love with it! ...The place I got the truck from said they would only put another $1200 at most toward fixing or replacing the transmission. ...not sure what to do from this point????......any body have any ideas??? ...would be gratefully appreciated.

Many thanks for listening to me cry!

Ram 1500 SXT 2DR CAB 5.2L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 127,700 miles

I have a 01 Dodge Ram 1500 with 127,000 mile on it and has a bad automatic transmission its a replacement though Jasper transmission. when I switch out of Reverse and into drive the gas pedal becomes really hard to push down and it won't switch into third the RPM's just go up. but I put it into neutral and then back into drive didn't help at all after it switched out of second and went to first for no reason at all. I went to the same auto shop before when it first happened and again they can't find anything wrong with it. they said there might be something internal but they don't know or something is inside of doing it they also checked the throttle cable and the cable running to the trans but nothing was wrong with it.

Ram 1500 SLT

  • 26,936 miles

I purchased a used 2001 doge ram 1500 from a Chrysler dealer with 26,936 miles. I drove it a day and a half and the check engine light came on. I brought it to the dealer and they said the torque converter was slipping. It has been in the shop or scheduled to go into the shop for the past 12 days. They keep trying new parts in the transmission to fix the problem. They put in a new torque converter and that fixed the problem so they said but I still can't get the truck back because now they found something else wrong ( some governor body for the transmission). I tried to return the truck but they said I had owned it to long. Yes, I had owned it 11 days but only 1.5 days with no problems. The dealership did give me a free 8 yr 80K mile warranty, but I would still have rather given them the truck back. They said I couldn't because the sales tax on the sale had already been sent to the state. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER CHRYSLER PRODUCT AGAIN.

if you have the same issue in your truck just change the fluid and filter then adjust the bands. turn them all the way till tight and turn back 2-1/4 turns it should correct the issue but you can turn them back to what you may like but this worked for me.

Ram 1500 1500 5.9L

  • Automatic transmission

Since I've had this truck I have put new solenoids in the Transmission, had the belts adjusted, and it runs fine, stopped the shifting problem. Then I replaced all ball joints and u-joints just for peace of mind. Ive replaced the door handles on the back doors twice because the crappie clips keep breaking and guess what they don't sell the clips seperately. Then my air conditioner quit working and now thats gonna really cost me because I can't find the leak after putting dye in it meaning the only other place to look is the evaporator. But now guess whats going on, "p1740" yes the stupid Torque Converter, pump, input, output shaft seals all that junk gotta be replaced. Please Dodge I was allways a loyal fan until know, give me a break. o yeah sway bar links allways the first to go. Chrysler corp owes me a new/used truck in my eyes

Ram 1500 5.2L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 98,000 miles

I bought my Ram 1500 pickup 2 years ago. After routine maintenance on the U joints the reverse gear went out. I mean within a week of this. Dodge will not acknowledge that there is a problem. My husband works very hard to pay the large payments on this truck so when this happened I ran a search on these transmissions and found a website that has documentation that they are using old style transmissions not made for trucks in these trucks. They have known for a very long time that this is the case but refuse to do anything about it. I am so angry and frustrated because we can not afford to have it fixed yet and he needs to use it for work. He still drives it but can not park like most people he has to be able to pull out straight. Please be careful when dealing with Dodge, they are slick, as much as I love my truck, I will never buy another one. Tazzie, Ashtabula, OH USA
