The spring clip mechanism that holds the mirror in place is actually what breaks. Has happened about every 6 months, & both mirrors were affected within 3 months of each other. The NHTSA web site has several similar complaints. Looks like a bad design, but the service people at the dealership deny that it's a design defect.
UPDATE: Just got off the phone with the Chrysler Customer service rep. What a waste of my time and humanity! Basically, the agent told me I should have know better and signed up for the extended service plan. I have been a satisfied Dodge owner for over 6 years... never more!
