ok so i bought my truck with about 130000 miles on it from a dealer. the previous owner did not take care of the truck. when i went to change the oil it had so much sludge i could not believe my eyes. before that my truck was over heating. finally the radiator blew and had that replaced. after that it was still running a little hot. my friend told about sea foam (Gods gift to man) you can put it in your gas, vac hose, and oil. so i did all that. and it has helped soooooooooo much. my engine runs cooler i get better gas mileage and my idle is consistent. so i am just telling all of you guys that have sludge is use sea foam, every time you change your oil.

The check engine light keeps coming on, I have taken it in to be checked numerous times and they can never find anything wrong, and just reset the light and of course charge me for thier time. I have gotten to the point where I just ignore the damn thing

Ram 1500 318

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

The "check engine light" was on for quite a while before the truck began to start and then not start. Eventually it wouldn't start at all. It would wind like it was trying to start but sounded almost like it wasn't getting gas. I knew when it wasn't going to start because the gauges wouldn't move over. If they would move over, it would start. A local shop found a broken wire under the fuse box but they also said diagnostics showed the computer was bad and replaced it. They only charged me for the computer at cost, and no labor, as it took them several weeks to find the intermittent problem. If only all shops were as honest as Carquest in Winnie. I have to go back again for an ABS light that has come on.

i had a computer fault code check run and codes p1491,p0455, and p0422 came up. can anyone suggest any thing? I think the guy who read the codes said the p0455 code usually is a carbon clogged line and the p0422 is a gas cap problem but i've changed the gas cap twice and what the hell! on the p1491 code, do I need to chage a sensor? HELP! I'm trying to get my expired smog sticker done, no go with check engine light!

Ram 1500 4x4 5.9L V8

  • Automatic transmission

Check engine light came on, took it into the dealership. There was a blown fuse and said it might be because of a faulty a/c fan. If the light came on again because of the same blown fuse, then it would definitely be because of the a/c fan. The light came on again....

The emissions part of my truck is under warranty, but Dodge denied it. They should have covered this problem because my emissions are under warranty still but they denied paying for it because it was a hose not a can or something like that. They make up their own warranties as they go along.

Ram 1500 ST 4.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 33,000 miles

While I was on deployment in Iraq i received an email from a friend of mine that was looking after my truck and he said that my Check Engine light was on. When I returned to the states, i took it the dealership from where I purchased the truck. I had the codes checked from the diagnostics equipment ($65.00 fee). They told me that the condenser fan and wiring was bad. I had bought a extended warranty on the truck when I bought it. But my luck the warranty did not cover it. $385.72 was the cost of the total replacement of what was diagnosed. Luckily that is the only problem that I have experienced with my Dodge.

I took my truck in because the engine light came on and to have the brakes checked, when they called with the bad news. They told me the reason for the engine light was the condenser fan $385, the front brakes needed pads and rotors $287, the rears $185 pads and turn rotors and then the leaky rack and pinion $865-$900 transmission fluid change $119 beat that!
