I experienced sudden and total loss of all steering function while driving which almost led to an accident. Prior to this, I had the high pressure power steering hose replaced and the system flushed. I never experience a system failure like this at only 48k miles. My truck has had no accident other than a minor rear end fender bender. I bought this vehicle new. I don't see myself ever buying a MOPAR made vehicle again. I plan to fix this problem and get rid of this truck. My overall confidence in all american vehicles for that matter is low. I see why they are in financial troubles. I plan to buy Japanese made vehicle for a long time now.

While driving down the highway at 70mph, the power steering failed. Luckily I was approaching the exit that leads directly to the dodge dealer. I was able to muscle the car into the dealership (barely). The pulley literally flew off the pump. It cost $1500 to replace the pump, they screwed it up and I had to return 4 times to get it right.I later still had to pay to replace the serpentine belt (apparently that was not part of the $1500).
a few months later, the radiator failed and they wanted $1000 to replace that. I had Pep Boys tow it down the street and replaced the radiator for $600. Dodge is bankrupt and deserves to be. Now a marriage made in hell -- Chrysler /Fiat two crappy quality automakers joining hands to fail again in the future. I will never EVER buy another Chrysler product. I felt I was giving Dodge a second chance when I bought the RAM and it has disappointed mightily for 7 years. I didn't know that 1500 on the back of the truck was a forecast of how many trips I would make to the dealer for repairs over the life of this Dodge DUD.
