After reading several problems with the 04 dodge rams and several other years I have decided to write this. My 04 dodge ram is doing the same thing as many others. About a year ago I suddenly began having rough idle after fill ups and sometimes the engine cutting out. Which is extremely dangerous...extremely! Afterwards my tank became a chore to fill with only being able to trickle gas down the filler neck. After speaking to a dodge mechanic I was told to replace filler neck...BS....then the tank since it was more than likely a valve in it. Since Dodge engineers who decided to mold the check valve into the tank...idiotic. I would have to replace the entire tank....rip off....yes, especially since the tank is on a waiting list. I popped off the evaporation hose running from the tank and vacuumed and blew air into the line. The problem went away, I broke something loose! Now after about another year at 75,000 miles....the same thing is happening again. I have swapped out several parts with evaporation system along with the same procedure. Now I have the vehicle filling fine, but the cutting out after filling up is back...even coasting the truck to a light etc it tries to regain power like it is starved for fuel. It has cut out on me going across intersections and at stop signs. I can't believe that a recall has not been sent out on these vehicles or even worse someone has been injured. At least the manufactures could make more tanks and engineer them with replaceable valves so that they can be replaced. Now onto the famous dodge rusting out!
