Refueling the truck has become a "pain in the ass". Pump shuts off repeatedly while trying to put fuel in tank, similar to when tank is near full. Takes 10 minutes to put < 10 gals. in tank. Not much help from Dodge dealer except : "bring it in & we'll check it " ?? Checked the obvious things like fill line blockage, pinched connector hose, etc.
If I pour fuel in via a 5 gal. can, it seems to accept fuel without issue ?? Problem began approximately a month ago & still continues. Any fix ideas out there ??

Truck was fine getting gas then one fill up time problem started out of the blue.
Gas just backs up into filler tube and shuts off gas nozzle so fueling becomes very slow process when fueling truck. Took to a Dodge dealer they could find no problem said just buy a new tank to have installed.

This is my first dodge ram i owned and i purchased new and i spent so much money on it for repair. Truck body look good but everything else sure sucks, not gonna buy dodge again product again. My problem included exploded intake manifold, rear end replace, front hub bearings replace 3 times, now fuel filling problem.

I find it hard to believe that a major US truck manufacturer, such as Dodge, can't make a fuel tank that works for the life of the vehicle. My 2004 Dodge Ram became so that I could not get gas into the tank. I knew the problem was that the air was not getting out. I even tried to stick a plastic tube down the fill pipe but the valve at the bottom would not let it into the tank. I was told the only way to fix the problem was to install a new tank. Tank cost $850, not including the labor to install it. Reason the tank itself needs to be replaced as the valves are press fitted into the plastic tank. THESE VALVES SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE REPLACED IN THE FIRST PLACE AND THE TANK SHOULD BE MADE SO THAT THEY CAN BE REPLACED IF NEEDED. I had the mechanic get a tank from the junk yard and install that one. Now I can fill the tank about 3/4 of the way full before the fuel pumps cuts off. It takes over 30 minutes to slowly, very very slowly fill the remaining 1/4 of the tank. Again I think it is the air getting out problem. Since this is two tanks I have had problems with I suspect this is a rather large problem. I'll bet I am not the only one that has or had this problem. Dodge should have done a recall on these tanks and replaced them free of charge as it is their poor manufacturing or poor selection of valves that is causing this problems. I have owned many vehicles over the last 55 years and not one of them ever had a problem where I could not get fuel into the tank.
