I don't remember the exact date or mileage as the first failure's were low in frequency. The truck dies after filling up with fuel. You can be up to speed but normally happens shortly after fill up and entering traffic. No trouble lights are showing on the dash and truck normally starts back up fairly easily, although sounds flooded. Now the truck does this at almost every fill up. No code diagnostics are showing. I have replaced the egr and spark plugs, no change.

Vehicle stalls after a gas fill-up. Dealer had filled the vehicle up and it stalled repeatedly for about 10 miles and then was fine. The next time I filled it up it stalled repeatedly again. I returned it to dealer for repair. They replaced the charcoal canisters and purge valve solenoid. After the next fill up it did not stall. However, after the second fill-up it started missing at highway speeds and then stalled on an exit/entry ramp of short curvature and had to be hurriedly restarted while turning at high speed. This is a definite safety issue and should be a recall. Social media is rampant with this issue with Dodge. Not filling the tank with gas is not a solution to this problem as some would suggest. This needs to be rectified!!!

When braking, the vehicle engine stalls as I slow down. The issue was intermittent, but now happens each time I break. I have to pull over with no power steering and restart the vehicle in P or N. sometimes, I have to wait a few minutes before it will let me restart.

Truck lost all power, throttle lamp blinking. Stalled on roadway, would start but would not give throttle to move the truck. Turned key off then back on a few times and would let me apply throttle for a few seconds, then back to no power. I did this a few times just to get off the roadway. There is no throttle cable so it is a computer control problem.

Dodge has a known history of fueling problems causing gasoline to flow out of the filling tube while at a pump. This is a hazard cause by their poor venting components. Check the internet and see the number of complaints about this. I've never heard of this with other manufacturers, but with Dodge it's a familiar occurrence.

I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 crew cab 5.7L hemi 2wd and it continues to stall every now and then at low speeds or at a complete stop. Vehicle will start right up with no problem but battery gauge takes a few seconds to rise to operating levels. Transmission also feels like it wants to slip at time of stall. Had engine and trans changed, battery and alternator checked out okay as well. Did some research and found that a lot of incidents happen after vehicle transmission ha been serviced or transmission fluid is low; other individuals who have experienced this problem have said they had the erg valve, tps sensor, map sensor and even software. I don't know what the problem is but you end up spending hundreds of dollars trying to figure this out. I don't know why Chrysler doesn't address this issue.

In the fall of last year the check engine light came on in my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. The code that came up was misfire in cylinder 8. I took it to a mechanic and they said it was the fuel injector which they replaced. A few days later after getting my truck back the light came on again. This time the code was misfire in cylinder 6. I took it to a very trusted mechanic who stated it was a rocker arm that had come off due to junk in the engine. Once it was fixed again the light came on saying misfire in cylinder 8. the mechanic said it was the rocker arm on that cylinder and replaced it. This happened 4 more times in the next month. The mechanic, who is very reputable, believes this is a manufacturing defect that will continue to occur no matter how often it is repaired. He also stated he has seen this in many many Dodge trucks and most notably in the 474 engine. It is an engine and safety issue due to loss of throttle which occurs very often when the problem is on going and is definite risk of causing an auto accident. This code is coming up every other day now and I believe it needs to be recalled.

I filled up all the way until the pump clicked at the gas station and then upon pulling out of the gas station the truck stalled into traffic while leaving the gas station. Less than a mile later I had to stop for a red light and truck stalled again. I bought the truck on 2/9/13 and the issue occurred on 2/11/13. I took it to the dealership but because a code was not thrown it is my issue to deal with. I have avoided topping off at the pump and have to watch the amount of gallons of fuel I put in order not to have the same situation occur again. This is not a valid fix in my opinion. I can see the situation exists with other owners of the same year of this vehicle as well. Why is this not being addressed"!?!"

Unable to fill gas tank because of defect in gas tank.. it appears that a roll over safety item, designed to cut off fuel from pouring out of the filler pipe, malfunctioned and caused the fuel pipe to be blocked at the tank. This is an expensive repair, as the gas tank, fuel pump and sending unit need to be replaced, I called Chrysler and lodged a complaint, and was told there are no recalls or service bulletins for this problem.

Went to fill my vehicle tank and gas began to suddenly flow out of filler hose. After removing and visually inspecting the filler hose and removing other hoses during testing it was determined that a replacement tank was needed. The on-board refueling vapor recovery (orvr) valve stopped working. After consulting a dealership with the details it was confirmed a new tank was needed. While placing an order for the tank, I was told from a few dealerships that I was on the waiting list. After another call from a local dealership I was told I am number 85 on back order list to receive a new fuel tank and that was just from his dealership. He quoted " they have no eta on that tank.right now they are working on trucks that are vor concern from other dealers first. Just wanted to keep you informed." Between fuel spitting out of vehicle, taking 15 minutes to put only 10 gallons into tank, and most of all a large back order number. I am wondering or requesting a recall to be possibly placed. The orvr valve can not be replaced do to being plastic welded to the fuel tank.

Truck began to overheat when stopping for more than a few minutes. Taken to the shop and they replaced cooling fan motor and temperature sensor. Three weeks later it did the same thing and all parts we're replaced again. This time it has lasted for six months but truck has begun to overheat again.

Check engine light is on. Strong smell of gas when vehicle is shut off. Vehicle stalls at slow speeds. Can't tell the engine quit as the rpms bottom out and engine dies. Very dangerous for driving. No control after the engine stops. This happened twice today. First time was in traffic in a town at a stop light. Couldn't restart the engine for awhile and couldn't get the truck out of traffic. Second time slowed to turn around in a driveway entrance and backed up when I came to a stop to shift to D the engine stalled and I didn't know it. My truck was at an angle crossing 2 lanes of traffic. Luckily, I was able to get it restarted. I googled the problem and it seems to be very common and dangerous with limited success on finding a repair solution.

My truck stalls as I come to a stop. This happens probably about 4 times a month since the date above. The dealership hasn't been able to find the problem. I have read on forums online that a ton of other people are having the same problem. Some say it has to do with erg valve and it should be recalled. They said they replace the egr valve and the problem is fixed.

My 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 pick up with a 5.7 liter engine began to stall upon braking and coming to a stop. The engine would lose RPM and die (stall) leaving me with no brakes or steering. It would restart easily but occur again frequently. Took the vehicle to a repair shop and after extensive and expensive diagnosis was found to have a failing throttle body and associated electrical failure. A new throttle body was obtained from Dodge (different part number from original) and installed. Total cost for the work was approximately $2,500. My research shows that this problem is extensive in this model and is dangerous.

The contact owns a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that when refueling the vehicle, the vehicle would only allow him to add one dollar worth of gas at a time in order to prevent the gasoline from spewing back out from the filler tune. The manufacturer was contacted in regards to the failure and informed the contact that he possibly would need to replace the fuel tank. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer who informed him that he would need to replace the fuel tank as well, but was unsure if it would correct the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 119,000.

My 2004 Dodge 1500 Ram truck has a defective valve on the fuel tank. Dodge told me the entire fuel tank needs to be changed to the tune of about $900! however, Dodge does not have any fuel tanks & I'd be # 83 on a wait list!!! in the meantime, I cannot fill my tank with gas !!! I called Dodge 800 # three weeks ago, but have still not heard back. Local dealers are not helpful either.

I have a 2004 Dodge 5.7 L 4X4 I have noticed that when I run the truck down to "E" and refill it to full the truck will stall when coming to a hard stop. The RPM goes up and down between 1000 and 2000 RPM. This only happens once after I fill the truck. I have looked on the inter net (edmonds/car "Dodge trucks stalling problems" and have located other the same problem. I also have a friend with the same truck and he is having the same issues. There are no codes or dash board lights coming on after it stalls. I am taking to a dealer to have it looked at and I asked if there were any reports of this truck stalling and they never heard of any. If you have had any complaints like this please let me know. My 2004 Dodge ram1500 V8 5.7 L engine 2wd stalls at intersections in cold temperatures. Also at times when the accelerator pedal is pressed there is no rmp increase. The stalling is extremely dangerous as I am at an intersection, I have to quickly restart the engine and hopefully not get rearended. I first noticed this problem at approximately 60K. I talked to my mechanic who informed me that there was a fuel system problem with Dodge 2003 and 2004 1500 V8 5.7 L engines for trucks. He directed me to a web site were I discovered several sub sites with people describing the same problems I am experiencing. Engine stalling in cold temperatures at intersections with their 2003 and 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 V8 5.7L engines. Some of them did get into crashes unable to avoid getting rearended. I was also informed by my mechanic that both 2wd and 4WD trucks with the 1500 V8 5.7 L engines had this fuel system problem. My truck stalling is numerous daily, some times 2 or 3 times in the morning on the way to work, and again 2 or 3 times on the way home. What I have discovered is if I allow the engine to warm up, approximately 10 minutes, I won't stall. To be safe from getting rearended it's best I waste a little gas each time I start the engine. My mechanic also informed me that the problem has to do with an improper throttle body. The repair would be to remove the improper throttle body and install a proper throttle body. I did contact my Dodge dealership and talked to the service manager, (who shall not be named per your request), who informed me that there was no recall on my VIN number, of my truck, but would not tell me if their were any recalls on any 2003 or 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 V8.5.7 L engines for an improper throttle body causing stalling in cold temperatures when coming to a stop at an intersection. I am going to pay my deductible at the dealership and get my truck safe, but I also want to be reimbursed. This is unsafe and should be recalled. Thank you!
