Ram 1500 SLT 5.7L V8 Hemi

  • Automatic transmission
  • 34,000 miles

As I was going down the road the other day, one of my defroster vents fell to pieces into the duct work. I then noticed a crack all the way across the dash front to back. As this was a 2005 model that I purchased new, only had 34000 miles, and still looked new (besides the dash that is falling apart) I was sure Dodge would do something about it.

I emailed Dodge Customer relations, and received an email and a phone call from "Amanda". She explained that I needed to take the truck to the local Dodge dealership (Efirds-Florence SC) and they would diagnose the issue, and she would follow up. Well I call Efirds and told him the issue. He said to drop it off next week and they would do a cost workup on the expense to repair, and that if I didn't want to fix it, they would CHARGE ME $85 to look at it!!!! I hope I am not the only person that thinks having to pay the dealership $85 to look at a manufacturer defect is the damn stupidest thing I have heard to date.

I told the guy to forget it, I would contact Dodge back. I emailed "Amanda" told he what I thought of the "charge". She said the dealership had to "diagnose" the cracked dash and if I had it repaired the charge would "usually be waved". But if I didn't want it fixed, she would just close the file. Great customer service there Dodge. In my opinion, they are saying "buy a Dodge, and replace your dash every 6 years."

I then emailed her that basically I am going to make it my life's mission to let the world know the treatment I received and that Dodge and customer service should not be mentioned in the same sentence.

At this point I am pretty pissed, after purchasing 2 new dodges in past I am done. And I will NOT be paying Dodge to look at their manufacturing problem. Anybody want to buy a slightly used Ram??

Ram 1500 5.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 116,000 miles

The dash cracked shortly after I purchased the truck. Several cracks from one end to the other. pieces of the dash fell into the defroster vent and rattle every time I turn the defroster on. Very annoying. I don't want to pay the money to fix it if it is just going to happen again. Need to have a recall!!!!

I can't believe that you can google this problem and the number of complaints dating back to early 2000 year model Dodge trucks! With the severity of this problem, there is no way that the consumer should have to foot the tab to have this obvious manufacturer defect corrected. What will it take for Dodge to step up to the plate. Perhaps the fear instilled in a woman when her dashboard collapse causing her to lose control of the vehicle and being seriously injured. Can you say lawsuit? Don't let this happen, Dodge. Do what is right. Fix the problems!

Ram 1500 5.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 38,000 miles

When we bought the dodge ram we asked what to put on the dash board and they said nothing this was at dealer its made to last. model 2005 so in 2009 the dash board gets a crack in it small but then the crack spreads and now its beginning to crack all over at only 4yrs old. I look on internet for dodge dash repair and I see all the complaints on dodge dash boards cracking on all dodge trucks all yrs and models. They all are wanting a recall on this problem and so do I. So what is it going to take I know dodge has to know about this problem their are so many shame on you dodge for not making it right and I hope you decide to do so in a recall to correct this problem and replace the dash board. I'm with everybody else Please Stand Together To Get A Recall On This Matter. Keep me informed THANKS LUMPKIN

so far Dodge said they are looking in to it. They need to do a recall and get it over with. Google "local 6 news Orlando, FL" to see the complaints.
