I had an accident related to the driver's side grab handle. I never usually use it to get into the truck, but decided to use it on June 7th, 2017. The truck is hardly ever driven and in very, very good condition. The grab handle was not loose in any way prior to the accident and had never been worked on or replaced. When I grabbed the handle to pull myself into the truck, which was stationary and parked in a driveway, the whole panel ripped right off and sent me falling hard to the asphalt driveway. I fell about 3 feet. By the way, I only weigh about 120 lbs. The fall caused me to break my left hip. I laid in the driveway screaming in excruciating pain and for help until someone found me. An ambulance transported me to a hospital. I had a partial hip replacement due to the hip fracture. Upon inspection, it looked like the panel/grab handle was secured into the body of the truck by plastic discs and clips! I was shocked and assumed something like that would've been secured by a more sturdy material. This accident has been physically and financially devastating for me.

I was on my way to work when I crashed into a dump truck and my car was pretty much totalled the accident was horrible and the air bag did not deployed. I constantly suffer back pain and although I was told by the hospital to get the treatment I lost my job due to the pain I get plus I did not have any transportation. And now I see that there is a recall for this vehicle for the air bag.

Approx. In 2012 I filed a complaint that the rear pinion gear had snapped on my truck. The dealership recommended installing a new / used rear end. I had the used rear end installed. On 5-7-2015 while on the highway the axle on the rear end abruptly broke. This occurred at approx. 60 mph. Almost causing a catastrophe. The wheel broke away as well as the brake caliper, thus loosing my brakes. As a result damage to the body also occurred. As I said I did file a previous complaint but was told that even though there is a recall on the rear ends on some of these models mine was not one. I paid the $2,500 or so to have that resolved. I feel this shouldn't have ever happened as this vehicle let alone twice. As of now my vehicle is awaiting a inspection from the dealership as well as insurance.

Dodge Ram have a big rust problem. Right over the wheels on both sides of the truck (wheel wells) they rust horribly because of them making a lip on the inside that holds water and debrit and erode the wheel well which eventually brakes apart. This is a problem with all Dodge trucks from 2003- 2008. There are hundreds of these incidents reported. The cost to repair is horrible for a person to pay also. This is a factory defect.

I noticed the paint puckering above the rear wheel well on the driver side last fall. Over the winter, the puckers gave way and severe rusting is visible the full length of the wheel well from the base to about 6 inches above the wheel well. Today I noticed the same thing happening on the passenger side. I have been informed that the metal has rusted out and both side inner and outer panels need to be replaced. The truck is kept clean and waxed, and has not been submerged in water nor exposed to salt water as it is used to commute on inland interstate highways almost exclusively. I noticed that other owners of this vehicle are having similar issues with the paint in this area. Is this a defect in the metal, paint, or welds that cause this problem..
