I drove my 2006 Dodge Ram from On. to Florida on vacation, I was almost there when the rear axle started to make a weird noise. With it being on a Sunday all dealers I stopped at to have it checked out were closed. So I continued on to Florida. When I got to Kissimmee, my rear axle locked up, it wouldn't move forward or reverse. It had to be winched on to a flatbed and taken to a Dodge dealer, where they told me that there was nothing they could do for me. So I had it taken to PEP boys where they opened my rear axle up to see what was wrong with it. To our surprise the carrier bearing adjusters had loosened off, which allowed the carrier to shift and wedge itself into the housing.

The mechanic called a Dodge dealer in Orlando and explained what had happened to the rear axle. They basically said, not their problem and that they would not fix it or cover it so I was (sh*t out of luck). I had to get a whole other rear axle from the wreckers to replace it because mine was destroyed. 1 and a half weeks and $2800.00 later I got my truck back, just in time to drive home, my vacation was over.

I like the Dodge Ram trucks but I would never buy another one. Dodge knows that there is a huge flaw with their outdated rear axles but won't do anything about it. I was going to buy a new challenger but don't know how the rear axle is in it so I won't be buying another Dodge product ever again.

OK THIS IS MY SECOND ROUND WITH THIS PROBLEM. I HAD IT FIXED BY A DEALER AND A MONTH LATER MY BEARINGS WENT AND HAD TO HAVE THEM REPLACED. NOT YET A YEAR LATER AND THE EXACT THING IS HAPPENING AGAIN. THE DIFFERENTIAL IS A PIECE OF CRAP. NOW THEY TELL ME THE CLUTCH ES ARE WORN OUT ......WHAT THE HELL DID THEY REPLACE?. ANYWAY THE SOLUTION HERE IS TO BUY A DETROIT TRUE TRAC DIFFERENTIAL AND REPLACE THE DODGE CRAP THAT'S IN THERE. THE DETROIT IS ABOUT $420. AND THE LABOR TO REPLACE IS WHAT EVER THE PERSON DOING IT CHARGES. THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO FIX THE PROBLEM, GOT THIS RIGHT FROM THE DODGE MECH MOUTH. OH BY THE WAY HE TOLD ME TO CHANGE THE REAR END FLUID EVERY 30,000 MILES AND PUT THE DODGE ADDITIVE IN WITH IT. WOW......REALLY......NO ONE TELLS YOU ANYTHING AND THIS IS WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO? DETROIT TRUTRC.........CAN'T GO WRONG

My rear Differential went out on the way to Ill. Towed to Dealer. Have extended warrenty but they wouldnt cover, because I continued to drive after realizing there was a problem. I was in the middle of corn fields in winter and was trying to make it to next exit. Dealer replaced rear end with used. On way back to florida I realized there was a vibration in rear. Found out both back axles are bent. Now I have to take it back to dealer and they wont cover labor or rental car. Having to pay Dodge 2 times for same repair. Have to get fixed to get rid of it. Terrible service at Cornet Dodge in Peru Ill (using junkyard parts) and The people at Daytona Dodge in Florida just dont care. Will never buy from them again. You shouldnt either if you dont want to get ripped off.
