driveside low beam will not come on but high beam will
The high beam on the drive side but no low beam, no high beam on the passenger side but low beam I swith bulb and it still doesn't change the way they come on.

TIPM ISSUE: low beam on driver's side went out while driving at night in a rural area; after buying 3 new bulbs @ $16/each with no luck, having system scanned by auto parts store with no luck, took to a dealer who said it was a know TIPM issue and would cost upwards of $1,200 to fix, however part is on back order due to the number of trucks needing them; flashing the system apparently was not an option; commented it was not a recall item as it was NOT a safety concern. How are losing your lights unexpectedly not a safety concern, not to mention the rest of the issues this TIPM is KNOWN to cause AFTER this one...it is the BRAIN of the entire truck. I am now driving with high beams on praying the rest of the computer system is not in jeopardy while trying to resolve.
Chrysler needs to step up and own up to this poorly designed part, add it to the recall list and fix!

no high beam headlights 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT 2wheel drive. Bought Sept 2011 with 64,000kms. Driving home from work around midnight, following another vehicle. I passed the vehicle I was following and once cleared, I switched to the high beam headlights. OH! S&@T!! NO HEADLIGHTS!!! PITCH BLACK OUT and I can't see!! I quickly switched back and fortunately the low beam worked. The next day I checked the internet and it's either the switch or the TIPM. Most likely the TIPM from what I seen on the web. The dodge vehicles are awful with the TIPM problems on the internet. I went to the dealer where I purchased the truck and after an animated chat. He said the TIPM was probably bad and if I wanted to fix it. A new TIPM was needed and to program and install the unit would be about $800-$1200. This truck has other issues too, I don't abuse the truck and with just over 100,000kms (60,000miles) I can't believe the lack of reliability in this machine. I can't afford to fix it right now. I don't dare go out after dark without fear of my headlights not working. It makes me sick to think of the amount of money I spent just to get these problems. I should have bought a ?????????? Next time I will.
Update from Nov 7, 2014: Again as I said in my update the solution was to replace the FCM or Forward Control Module for about $50.

left low beam won't work 2006 DODGE RAM 1500 SLT 2wheel drive. Bought used Sept. 2011 with 64,000km. July 2013 changed left side headlight bulb because of non functioning low beam. New bulb didn't work. Took bulb back to supplier thinking a defective bulb. Changed again and still does not work on low beam. Next I took the known good high/low bulb from right side and put it into the left socket. I then took old bulb (that was not working) and put it in the right socket. GUESS WHAT, still no low beam on the left side but the high/low bulb on the right works. So now I expect a fuse or other problem. Funny thing is if I start the truck and put it in gear (without turning the headlight switch on) both headlight bulbs are on, I guess daytime mode. If I turn the headlight switch to the first indent, both headlights work with tail lights and front marker lights on. It's only when I turn the switch to the second indent or all the way is when the left low beam don't work.
To the internet I go to see where the fuses are located and GUESS WHAT, nothing but DODGE TIPM problems for one reason or another. NOW I KNOW, I should have bought a ??????
Took the truck to the dealer and after a short chat he said it could be fixed after I buy a new TIPM and have them program it to my vehicle, all for only between $900-$1200. I still have only one low beam headlight.
Update from Nov 7, 2014: Turned out it was not the TIPM but rather a miss diagnosis by the dealer. Reading dodge truck forums helped me diagnosis the problem and cure myself. Turns out it was the FCM or Forward Control module. I replaced the module and all has been fine.

my headlight went out and tried changing the bulb but still didn't work. took it to the dealership and they want 1200 plus tax to repair. on top of that i just got a 240 dollar ticket for it being out. i will never purchase another chrysler product after this. im even trying to trade it in for a gm or ford truck. what would make them wire a headlight into a computer that if it goes out your stuck with a bill that high. i have owned 7 different trucks since i started driving and this has to be the biggest load of bs i ever had to deal with. i had a 2002 Chevy Silverado that i blew the engine on and it cost me 1100 to fix. how can i replace an engine for less money than a headlight? as i look through forums hundreds of people have the same issue that just so happens to come up just after the warranty ended. me personally i think its a scam by chrysler, especially being that u can only purchase the tipm module from them and has to be programmed by them. i even found the tipm module for 550 threw mopar but when u try to order it a message pops up saying to call there 1800 number and when u do they tell u its a $858 part. im done with chrysler products. the sad part is that this is the second ram ive owned and never had a problem with my previous one which was an 03 1500

THE TIPM NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT ON ME DRIVING TO WORK AT 3:00 AM (IN THE MORNING) PITCH BLACK OUT. ALMOST WRECKED OR DIED. THIS IS NOT SOMETHING ACCEPTABLE. THERE JHAVE BEEN MANY COMPLAINTS AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE. DODGE HAS A PROBLEM HERE AND IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED NOW!!!
