My complaint isn't so much with the fact the part needs to be replaced, but that there is a NATIONWIDE backorder from Chrysler on over 8000 tie rod ends. If that's the case, shouldn't there be a recall!!!!!!!!!!!! Just my two cents worth.

Front driver side tie rod end was bad. I had a dealer look at it just after I got the truck back after having a line-x line installed. Said it was loose and need to be changed. Drove on it for a couple of months. then took to a Les Schawb for free check or another problem. Found out it had a lot of movement. Changed both myself to save the money. The alignment will be done tomorrow after the failed shock is replaced.

Lower ball joint went out with upper and both outer tie rod ends.

I have a 06 Dodge Ram 1500 Bighorn edition that only has 21,000 miles and has never been taken off road. This is not the only problem with the truck. So much for ever buying a Dodge again.

This is the last complaint. A total of three on the same day, including the struts, wheel bearings and tie rods, a $1300.00 day that was not covered by extended warranty. Will think twice about even buying American anymore.

Took the truck in to get inspected, failed due to tie rods.

Was taking a trip from Chicago to St.Louis. Decided to drop into our local auto repair place for an oil change and to check a slight noise coming from the front end when I made a turn. Note at this point the truck was out of warranty by three months. To this time, I have had no problems except for two recalls on things I hope I never have to use, air bags and child seats. Upon checking the truck I get a call that the outer tie rods are loose. I trust these guys and if they say they are bad, I'm not driving the truck. I tell them to replace the outer tie rods. The parts will be ordered for pickup the next day and installed. Easy enough right? No...it gets better. I'm informed the next day that these specific parts are so back ordered that it will be close to a five week wait to get them through the dealer. It appears I'm not the only 2006 1500 owner looking for tie rods. They try and order them through Napa but the threading is not right.
Now the old tie rods have been pounded off and they (the local garage) are not about to re-install them. They now have a vehicle taking up space that they can't repair. After about four days (weekend included) they are able to get the tie rods from the Dodge dealer in the next town. The Dodge Parts Manager tells our local guys that some dealers are stock piling these tie rods and are not entering them as inventory on the system. He states they have not shown up as inventory for cross checking in several weeks through the dealer network. He won't say where he got them but they are the correct ones for my truck. There is something to be said about living in a small town where a favor is valued.
In checking the net, there appears to be a BIG issue with tie rods on the 2006 1500 models. Not sure of other years but if you own a Ram 1500, have the tie rods checked at every oil change.
BTW...I did make it to St.Louis via a rental car.

this took several months and visits to the dealer for them to actually fix this.
i had to show them the problem myself. tie rod nearly fell apart when removed from truck , it was so worn. Chrysler please just throw in the towel.

i found out about my tie rods were bad at 38000 mile only 2000 out of the warranty and that they had been this way for a long time.this truck has never been off road or towed anything. I no help from dodge, and there customer service staff was extremely rude to me and refused to help and even hung up on me

I bought a 2006 Dodge Ram Big Horn Edition brand new and never took it off road. After 30,000 miles I find out that both inner tie rod ends need replacement. This was covered under warranty but it's still bull sh*t that they need replaced. I've heard that Dodge released alot of tie rods from the factory that were potentially bad. You would think that if you spend 40,000 on a new truck you shouldn't need to start replacing parts after 30,000 miles.

I bought my 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 in June/06. Within a month of driving, keep in mind the roughest terrain this truck has seen is my front lawn, I heard knocking coming from the front drivers side and through the steering column. After several trips to the dealership for diagnosis, finally I found a tech that would acknowledge the noise and subsequently target a faulty tie rod end. The part finally came from the factory floor five weeks later and I was told it would be another two weeks as they have to test and inspect the part because they have been found to be faulty right out of the factory....WHAT! I couldn't believe it! They know there are faulty parts and continue to put these parts on new vehicles coming of the floor? Can you say liability? Regardless the part was installed and the noise went away for about three months and guess who's back? That same god damn noise. I have had it and I am taking Dodge to court over this problem along with several other problems with the truck. Someone needs to hold these idiots accountable if they are going to continue to knowingly install faulty parts on vehicles people are assuming are safe.

Dodge does not want to fix the problem, we have to pay $1000 for insurance deductible. Dodge said that our truck does not fall under the recall. It was the left front tie rod that almost killed us and and is costing us thousands. They say that our vin # is not one of the trucks, but it is. Dodge will not help us, they are trying everything they can not to help us. My 8 year old daughter almost died and is very afraid to ride in a truck again.
We have not had the truck for a month, that is my means to take the kids to school, get food, etc, and we are paying a big payment on the truck and full coverage for them to not fix it. They want us to say that we ran into something, we did not ,it happened a mile from our house and had to have a tow truck come and get it. We like Dodge trucks but the company is a -------- joke, they will not help their customers, this is sad.
Ours is a 1500 mega 4x4 2006, had it only 7 months and have only driven it for maybe 3 sad, sad, sad days. Somebody please help, making payments, ins.,and having to pay to have it fixed ? And still have no transportation?
